Tremendous Camera!
This is tremendous camera for a small church ministry like us! The full auto mode makes it impossible to make a mistake when it comes to managing lighting and focus. It almost feels like cheating because it is so easy to get such great quality. For us this is an expensive camera but this is worth every penny. Glad for all the help from B&H too!

Just getting back into video. A good choice
There are some things I don't like (like the button controls and the buttons on the data control selector are hard for me to feel;) but the camera is so strikingly familiar to the former Sonys I've owned it's like seeing an old friend. Picture is stunning, sound without an external mixer is better than just useable, and it's a heck of a lot lighter than my Canon 5D Mk4 with a 70-200 lens. Money well spent.

A welcome return to dedicated video cameras
After years of shooting with DSLRs it's nice to return to a well-designed camcorder for shooting video. I missed the dual XLR audio inputs, zebra level displays and tactile controls that let me quickly change major functions on the fly. That makes the Z150 a lot easier to adjust in the field versus scrolling through a myriad of menus. And, with the servo lens I can once again do gentle zooms, even hand-held, during the shoot. I shoot scripted, dr... Show More

Great al around camera
If you have ever used any previous Sony Camcorders, Like the Z5u or Even PMW200 style, you will love the Z150. The Z150 with its 1 inch sensor has excellent video quality in both 4K and HD modes. The 12x optical zoom range is adequate for many situations, the clear zoom performs very well in both 4k and HD with no noticeable artifacts. In lower light the Z150 even with gain up to +12 or 15db. The camera feels balance for handheld use either loo... Show More

In general a good camera.
Not a good camera if used indoors with not enough light. I do use it indoors, but I have to put a Frezzzi light on a pole and a Fotodiox Led light on the camera accessory shoe. Plastic caps/covers in the rear (covering USB, LAN, Headphone jack etc.), and XLR caps are not closing properly. They are loose and can be a bother during the operation time. I do not find the menu to be user friendly. Stay away from using full auto option. For those reasons, I give this camera three stars.

Not worth the money.
I am not sure how some reviewers are giving this camera five stars!!!!! Worthless on auto mode. Menu? Very confusing.

Riddled with problems
Like many modern video cameras, the image quality can be great but the PXW-150 is riddled with problems. I lie awake a nights, thinking how much I hate it. The biggest problem for an operator is that the focus, zoom and aperture rings are not connected to anything other than by a drag mechanism. You cant set a focus or zoom mark because the rings turn freely at any time and dont represent the zoom, focus or iris positions. Even though the sensor... Show More

A Real Gem!
If youre looking for a high quality, versatile and reliable camcorder, that outputs stellar images, has many features, and is easy to use, then look no further. In my opinion, Sony hit it out of the park with this camera. You could easily spend lots more and get a lot less. Ill probably end up buying a 2nd one soon.

Unprofessional camera line
I purchased this recorder a few months ago for a special project. I am a photographer and this was my first intro to video assignements. The sony recorder works as advertised but the remote that came with it was defective out of the box. I did not realize this until my first shoot, battery was dead. Replaced the bettery, tested the remote but on the next shoot same problem battery dead. I called B&H but was told this is a warranty issue after 30 ... Show More

Works well for stage and drama productions.
Now that I have been using this camera for over a year, It performs very well for stage and drama productions. I find that low light is not a problem when leaving the camera at 0dB Gain while leaving on the auto iris. I have used it as a wide shot and as a zoom camera. It is harder to find the correct focus as a wide camera but once set, it is great. I do not like where Sony put the controls, but I just get used to it. I use a Sony RM1BP Rem... Show More

Ease of operation
This camera handles well. All the controls are visible and logically located. A lot of camera at a very reasonable price.

Good Camera for the Price
As some reviewers have stated, it's not great under low light. But you can push the gain and it's not too noisy. The menu can be hard to navigate and the LCD/Viewfinder viewing options are annoying. However, it can produce some amazing video. I also like the fact that it has a 1" sensor, records to SD cards, shoots 4K, records slo-mo, and costs only $3000.

Terrible in low light
For cinematic shoots I use a variety of cameras including DSLRS which of course I can change out lenses. I wanted a run and gun type camera for the other shoots, videographer types, conferences, etc. While most of these type of shoots are inside, this camera is horrible in those situations.. The lowest I am able to shoot even in lighted scenes, is 18db/ really? It looks like the iris is closed when in 0db, while other cameras would do just fine. ... Show More

I was misled by high-praise reviews
The reviewer who said that this camera is not for indoor work due to its poor low light performance was spot-on. I should've put more stock in that review. This leads the list of things I'm unhappy with. True, in full daylight (or well-lit indoor situations), it can be really amazing. But indoors, where the lighting is iffy, it fails miserably. Not that it doesn't film indoors it just gives you more noise than anyone would want much of the time. ... Show More

Data Transfer
I have made recording using the Sony PXW-Z150 camcorder but have not been able to download to my computer or view recording. I am at a point to decide within the next week to keep camcorder or return. Been unable to get any information on how to transfer data I recorded and use to make DVD's. If you are reading this and know what I need to do to transfer recording for viewing on my Lab top I would appreciate it. I have a Dell Lab Top with windows... Show More

A bit disappointed, but will keep the camera
I'm happy enough with this camera, but would not buy it again. It has a good, clean picture, shoots UHD to an SD card, has 2 card slots for spanning, has multiple ND filters built-in, good audio, and I love the 3 rings upfront. It feels very study and well-built. However, it has fallen short of expectations in a number of areas. First, you should know that I have about 3 years experience with the X-70. Great camera!
Some people say that the PXW-Z150 doesn't record very well in low light. It's not as bad as you think. I shot plenty of times in low light and never had an issue. I just did a day in the life shoot for an attorney and the attorney got back to me and told me that the insurance company past on congratulations to the videographer for such a well-made video. If you don't want to spend the money for the FS5 or FS7 then you'll be happy with the Z150!

Not good enough
The Bad: This camera is almost unusable for handheld work. The ergonomics are terrible. Unusable for low light work. I would NEVER use this indoors (I've tried, not worth it). Menu system sucks (not easy to back track your navigation path) Full auto mode is useless because autofocus is terrible. I have a ten year old camcorder that is way better at autofocus than this. Mic mount is laughable. It's the same mount as my FS7, which is also laughable... Show More

Really Bad body design
The body is very poorly designed , it is unbalanced, lopsided, crooked, off centred and much much too small for semi pro use. There is no room for anything, for me to hook up my lav mic system, light etc. is a disaster, so so difficult to work with, just not enough room for anything. too release the XLR you have to stick your finger between the the mic holder and there is not enough room. So i grind my finger every time. There is a big auto focus... Show More
