Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens

Good but not great
Comparing it against the Canon 70-200mm IS f/2.8 ii I can't help but wonder why this lens cost so much. It's not as fast as the Canon not is it as sharp as the Canon. It's still a good lens I would recommend buying if you need a native 70-200 on a Sony FE mount.

Amazing!
this is an amazing lens, would not change it for anything. I know the 2.8 G Masters version its coming out but this is an amazing light lens. I do action sports and landscape photography so I barely go down f4. This lens is portable and the quality is amazing.

No complaints...
I've had the pleasure of shooting with this lens for 2 years now and each time I'm reminded why I love this lens. Nothing but good things to say, the f/4 is ideal for my beach volleyball shoots and even portraits with off camera. You won't be disappointed.

LOVE this lens!
This lens is not heavy, making it easy to use all day long. It focuses quickly and the images are beautiful. We've put it through its paces at our outdoor wedding venue with horses and I can tell it will hold up just as well as our other Sony equipment.

Quality lens
I just received this lens and have had a little chance to put it through some paces--wonderful. The clarity and ease of use is extraordinary. Definitely worth the price. Im planning a trip to Norway and cant wait to put this lens to work!

Very Sharp and Responsive
I purchased an A7RII last fall and have been slowly purchasing lenses for it. I finally purchased this lens and have been very impressed. It's easily the equal of its Canon counterpart. Very responsive and sharp as well as well-made.

Very happy with the accutance of this lens
I use this lens primarily for landscape and natural subjects. Used with the A7RII it focuses neither front nor back at both ends of its focal length. Construction feels solid for such a light lens and the controls work smoothly.

I love my Sony FE 70-200 lens!
This is the first zoom lens I purchased for my A7r since I am a prime lens guy but the quality of this lens is so good that I am finding very little difference between this lens and my Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 lens which I also love.

Superb Quality
I compared this lens to my Canon f/4.5-5.6, 100-400mm lens, the Canon 70-200mm F/4 and the Tamron f/4-5.6 70-300mm lens and in each case the Sony lens showed superiority in sharpness, color contrast and quickness in focus.

Great lens for the size and weight!!!
I just returned from a trip to Europe, my first. This lens was just what I needed for the river cruises. The hand held pictures are very sharp. I would recommend this lens to anyone who has a Sony a7 camera. It is great!

Very good!
Happy with this buy, compared to the average 70-200mm, this is a very compact design. Wide open, it is sharpest at around 135mm and weakest at 200mm. It does perform well everywhere stopped down. OSS does a good job!

lens is fantastic
had the GM 2.8 but hated the size and didn't find myself using under 4 much. personally I like this lens a lot more, works on my gimbal for some unique shots, easy to carry all day, great build. filter is trash tho.

Poor build quality
The screws that hold the bayonet on (and therefore support the weight of the lens) connect to the main frame through tiny plastic sleeves. Not a robust design at all. Also there's a cyan cast that I don't care for.

Sony FE 70-200 f/4 G OSS lens
Purchased this lens December 2019...and I love it ! It is a great lens, sharp, good resolution ! Great for street photography, travel and wildlife shots. This is my go to lens is on my Sony a7III all the time.

Very Very Nice
Beautifully built, strong and solid feel in hand. Dense but not heavy. OSS really completes the point of capture. Rewarding. Great colors. Very sharp. I'm using on the A6000 and am more than pleased.

Fantastic Lens
I have been delighted with this lens. Great clarity, fast focusing, surprisingly light. It is a wonderful match with the Sony a7Rii. It is excellent for wildlife shots and also a good portrait lens.

Perfect fit.
Just used this to take pictures at RodeoHouston in NRG Stadium. Low light and sitting up high. With the combination of ClearImage zoom and the A7RII, I was able to get some great shots.

A pleasure
coming from Canon 70-200L 2.8 II i was really not expecting to much from this glass but I'll have to say it is pretty impressive and of course a fair bit lighter in weight and money.

Great quality!
I ordered this lens in both f4 and f2.8 versions. The quality is impressive in both but I elected to return the 2.8, due to the weight aspect and being extremely pleased with the f4.

A solid 70-200 option
With the new GM lens out now, this lens may get over looked. In fact, I canceled my GM order and went with this one in stead. It is plenty sharp and also has a nice size and weight.

Very sharp and very fun lens
I am a jet pilot and this is an excellent in cockpit lens. I have only owned it for several months and am impressed with its quickness and sharpness. Lot of bang for the buck.

Very Nice lens

Excellent Lens
Mainly used for concert photography, this lens is stellar throughout the zoom range. I haven't needed it to be brighter than F4 so for my needs, it serves me very well.
