Unacceptable for the price.
The autofocus is so slow it's laughable. I'm serious...I didn't know what else to do but laugh about how horrible it is. This lens shouldn't even be available, it's almost unusable.

You get what you pay for
Auto focus is extremely slow and unreliable. I am extremely disappointed, but then again it was cheap. But I wish I hadnt bought it. The moment is gone by the time the lens focuses.

Much better than expected.
...yes this lens does hunt at times, but not that often if focusing over an area of contrast and when it nails it the resulting file is sharp and lovely even wide open, on my a7ll.

Very recommended!
Bought this lens today, in Sweden. While not up there with the Zeiss 55, its more than good enough for my needs. Well worth the price, and i paid more with our taxes, roughly 340$.

Mixed bag
Excellent optical quality, amazingly small and light. Slow, clumsy auto-focus, with lots of hunting back and forth. It's time for Sony to upgrade this lens to a modern design.

Decent lens at a decent price
Using it on my A7III. It does AF hunt a little and the AF motor is a bit noisy. The picture quality is excellent overall though. For the price it is actually worth it.

Very good for the price.
Inexpensive and optically very good. Typical low end construction but not bad. Slow focusing for a modern lens but Ive seen worse. Dark day, f/4. Converted in post.

Get what you pay for
Very cheap prime lens with great depth to field but its not the sharpest lens out there. Very good piece of glass for any Sony photographer considering the price

Good, but not great
I've owned the Zeiss 55 1.8 and considering the prices I'd say this Sony 50 1.8 is more than a fair deal. Good looking bokeh and image quality. Very light.

Good but not as fast as I thought
This lens has a really good bokeh but the focus is not as fast as I would like for taking pictures of the kids but for others purposes, it is really good.

Nifty Fifty!
Slapped this on my Sony a7sii and it is great. Such an awesome little nifty fifty! Great Fstop at 1.8, crisp and sharp at higher fstops, really impressed.

A Must-have 50 MM Lens for Sony Camera.
One drawback: When I focus on the lens with a closed down aperture I hear the short clicking / grinding noise, which is not a deal-breaker for me. A7iii.

Great budget fast lens
I'm very impressed with the images I get from this lens, it's not the fastest autofocus or the best built quality but for the price, you can't go wrong!

Super lens!!!
Wonderful lens!! I made wonderful pics at night, for northern lights in Iceland. Very nice colors and very sharp pictures. Excellent acquisition.

This thing is a beast.
Very affordable and functional 50mm. Great for interview style videos and portraits. Now, I will be using this more than most of my other lenses.

Not Quite what I expected
IQ is good in most cases. Bokeh is excellent , but it is slow to focus and noisy ! I returned it to explore other options (Zeiss or Sigma).

Quality glass for the price. Haven't tested it in a lot of situations, but it's a must have for the budget filmmaker or photographer.
