Compact Powerhouse!

Apr 27, 2016

First I'd like to say what a revolutionary camera this truly is. The RX1RII not only builds upon the mark I, it solidifies itself as a real contender with the likes of Leica rangefinders. Having a fixed 35mm F2 lens might deter some people, since the lens is not interchangeable, but 35mm is a wonderful focal length to work within. I find myself consistently pleased with the results in various situations. This little camera packs astounding 42MP r... Show More

Very happy!

Mar 23, 2016

Having read many articles about this camera, I decided to bought it. I have been taking photos with mi 5ds from november and was very satisfied, but needed something lighter for dairy street photography. I am happier than a kid with a bag of candy!. What liked the most in this camera is the capacity of handheld shooting at nignt, and, the capacity of pushing shadows at lightroom to get an incredible DR. It is not a perfect camera, but there is no... Show More

Much Improved over RX1R

Mar 21, 2016

I used an RX1R for about a month and while it was a great camera, the AF was a huge drawback if anything in the frame was moving. Fast forward to the M2 and the focusing on this thing is fantastic. While it isn't perfect, it does an admirable job of keeping up with my 1 year old for those days I don't want to get the DSLR out. IQ is fantastic and the file sizes haven't been too bad to deal with. Battery could be much better, but there are cheap extra batteries readily available if you don't mind 3rd parties.

Great camera in small form factor

Mar 8, 2016

I have used full frame cameras for a long time, but I wanted to have something smaller for Carry everywhere camera. And RX1RII is indeed significantly smaller than traditional full frame cameras. The 35mm focal length is great for everyday usage, since it allows portraits as wells as nature photos without too much compromise with neither of them. Also the F2 lens has really nice bokeh from portrait distances In summary positives -Great image qual... Show More

Little Powerhouse

Mar 8, 2016

The images from this camera are some of the best image quality that I have ever seen in any camera. The battery life isn't the greatest but it forces you to be more selective about the shots you take. Camera functions are a breeze because you can customize pretty much all the buttons on the camera which makes the camera very easy to use. It's relatively more expensive compared to other point and shoot cameras but it is totally worth every penny i... Show More

Perfect, my favorite camera now

Mar 7, 2016

I've been hauling huge dslr's all around the world to shoot with. Now I don't. This is a beautiful camera especially well suited to street photography but Im using it as well with a Beeworks 3-axis gimbal for video work as it saves a ton of weight and makes it easy on the arms. I can own any camera I want and do own a couple 7d MK11's and 5dMkIII and an array of lenses. My everyday, never leaves my side camera is this. I just couldn't be happier ... Show More

90% Pro Camera in a Point and Shoot Package

Feb 8, 2016

Great everyday/travel/casual camera for me. Sure this is probably not the best choice if you are into fast action/sports photography, but for my everyday family/travel use, it's perfect. Small, great pictures, better AF, and 1080p video. It's just what I was looking for.

I Love It!

Feb 4, 2016

I've been out of photography for many years. My last serious work was with a Hasselblad film camera for photographing wedding and fine art black and white printing. I've been checking out digital cameras for quite some time but haven't found one that really drew me back into photography until I ended up purchasing the RX1RII. I purchased an A7RII last year for my daughter and had a couple of weeks to work with it and test it before giving it to h... Show More

Great improvement of RX1R

Jan 20, 2016

I loved my RX1R but the slow focusing was a bit annoying. The Rx1R II is much faster and is a great camera. The images and versatility of this camera are ideal for me. The new viewfinder is a welcome addition as is the tilting back display. People have been talking about short battery life, I just carry spares. The new case is also great because you do not have to remove it to gain access to the battery compartment. Overall I love this camera and highly recommend it.

Had To Send Mine Back

Jan 11, 2016

My $. camera arrived and within ten minutes I found it defective. From a distance of three feet, the autofocus front-focused by more than two inches. This would be a terrible performance even for a cheap camera. How can a unit like this leave the factory? For that price do they not test each camera? Apparently not, and now there are no replacements because Sony has stopped shipping them (but will not say why, which is unfair to owners of this camera, and really disgraceful.I suspect there are others like this out there. If you buy one, be sure to test autofocus immediately.

The RX1 Concept Made (Infinitely) More Usable

Dec 22, 2015

The original RX1 was not fun to use. Yes, the camera was something of a ground-breaker. Its Zeiss lens was wonderful and the full-frame sensor was top-notch for its day. But the AF was slow and unpredictable, the rear screen did not tilt, and if you wanted a viewfinder you had to buy an expensive shoe-mounted EVF that made the camera far less convenient. (I used gaffers tape to secure the EVF, since it had a tendency to become dislodged easily.) ... Show More

After months of research and waiting for this camera; I can say that I'm more the pleased with the image and build quality! I come from using the canon 5d iii with prime 50, 85 1.2 and 16-35 2.8 and I will gladly leave all this canon equipment at home and take just my rx1 rII. What a great bring anywhere camera

Dec 18, 2015

So small you can bring anywhere. Image quality is excellent, better than the rx1. Even the videos taken with the camera is better. Auto focus is fast and very sharp. Love the built quality and the tilt screen. Only con about the camera is the battery life. Worse then the rx1. But battery is cheap. Overall, very happy with purchase.

I've been a photographer for nearly 60 years (yes, I started way early ;)). If may be early to say, as I've only had the camera for a couple of weeks, but this is the best of the bunch... and I've had quite a few! The size makes is easy to handle and carry around, and makes it far less intimidating for subjects - especially important for a street photographer like myself. Eye focus that tracks the subject? Amazing camera, but bad copies exist

Dec 11, 2015

Having owned the original RX1, I was anxious for this successor's release. I pre-ordered mine within the first minutes of its pre-orderable status, and received it as soon as it was released. I was very saddened to have received a copy with a terribly calibrated lens: real-world results and stringently-controlled tests proved that the lens was decentered, producing very soft images on the left side of the frame. I would've have asked for a replac... Show More

Set the custom buttons to toggle between the lcd screen and the viewfinder, otherwise you'll have to dig into the menus to change these settings. Better yet, set a custom button to deactivate the lcd altogether. That way the screen doesn't eat up battery power when you're just walking around. 3. Turn off Pr... Show More

An Amazing Engineering Achievement with One Fatal Flaw

Sony had fixed the most glaring issues plaguing the first RX1R--terrible AF performance and no built-in EVF--and done so in a meaningful way. AF is now quite useful and fast in most situations and the EVF is designed to pop-up in a significantly more robust fashion than in the RX100IV, although the design of the removable round rubber eye-cover is an option to be forgotten by most users as it is a challenge to mount and you can't close the EVF wi... Dec 8, 2015

I do a great deal of street, public event and travel photography. My kit has long consisted of two full-frame bodies, one with a 35mm lens on it all the time. I use that for about 80% of what I shoot. And the other that more often than not has either an 85 or 135mm lens on it - occasionally a 20mm.
