Fantastic camera for street photography
I love this camera. I bought it as a secondary camera when I don't feel like carrying my GH4. Pros: -The built-in stabilization is fantastic for walking around. I was able to snap photos as I walked that came out sharp. -Love the tones on the new L.Monochrome setting. (Images attached, all straight out of camera) -Electronic shutter is super quiet, and unlike the GH4, the higher ISOs aren't cut off with the silent mode on. -Cons: -I wasn't a fan ... Show More

What a great camera it was
I had this camera for 3 months and I loved it. I took it with me everywhere, isn't that the point of a range finder type of camera? Well after 3 months the auto focus assist light would stay on when the camera is on. I always shoot manual with AF and other gadgets off.. Called up B&H photo they told me to contact Panacare wich I did, and here is their response: "Unit has impact damage to bottom right corner of rear case- removed rear case- fo... Show More

Big Improvements overall
I own a GX-7 and still enjoy shooting with it. Since then I have bought the 12-35mm and 35-100mm f2.8 lenses. The GX-85 adds several performance improvements over previous bodies. The new electromagnetic shutter is much smoother and quieter, the 5 axis image stabilization combined with the image stabilizer in each lens gives you incredible flexibility before resorting to a tripod. Shooting with the 35-100 at full zoom (200mm equivalent and gettin... Show More

Panasonic GX85
Ive had the pleasure to pick up a new panasonic gx85 a few months back. I was so surprised with how compact and how durable the camera truely is. It handles low light so nicely as well. Perfect camera for walking around in everyday situations. The focal length on the cameras kit lens is actually pretty nice to with a good zoom range from 12-32mms. This camera really opened my eyes to how clean and how much quality can still be kept within the pho... Show More

Fantastic Compact Camera !!!
I bought this as my compact travel camera and the results for both photos and video have been excellent. It's an absolute bargain at the current price with two kit lenses. For my work I shoot with Panasonic GH5 cameras ( mostly video, but some photography too ), but for general purpose photography and video recording the GX85 produces extremely good results. The 5-axis stabilization is great for both photos and video, and makes a huge differ... Show More

Lumix gx85 - It was definitely worth the wait.
I am so happy to finally have this camera. I have had a number of Lumix cameras and still one of my favorites is the GX 1. The GX 85 is really a very close form factor which is what I was looking for along with the advanced 4K video and photo functions. I had owned the GX 8 but found it was just a little too cumbersome as I use a meta-bones Canon EF to micro 4/3 adapter. I use these with my VoigtLander lenses. The GX 85 also works great with the ... Great Camera
I bought this as a smaller replacement to my Canon Rebel T4i that was stolen. Truth is, with the larger lens on the Canon, it was always a pain to carry. Getting used to this, but awesome quality pictures and easy to change lens' on the fly. It's a great size. Still would rather have a smaller case, but if you want to carry both lens, not much of an option. The only drawback is that you have to change lens to get to a 150 zoom (which is a better ... Incredible Value for a small micro four thirds
I bought this compact camera with extra lens primarily for its 4K video capabilities, compactness and image stabilization. As others have noted, it has certain limitations, but it is PACKED WITH FEATURES and cannot be beat at this price for 4K. The 12-32mm less is so small but good. Its my current go to camera for travel and everyday shooting. Put the 25mm f1.8 lens in your pocket for low light for $150 more and you have a formidable package. I... Show More

Great Camera, Fantastic Value!
I've been using the Micro Four Thirds format for over 8 years now, and I purchased this, GX85 knowing what it's limitations were, and knowing what most of its abilities were. I am absolutely satisfied with the GX85. It is such a fun camera to use, and the 5 axis stabilization, and Dual IS, for use with Dual IS lenses, is amazing! The two lense combination, 12-32mm and 45-150mm, make this a kit ready to hit the road, or city. The 12-32mm lens is... Show More

Love this camera
After shooting 35mm for decades I dropped out of the photo thing when it all went digital. Just wasnt right anymore. For the last couple yrs have been thinking of getting back in. Liked the rangefinder styling. After researching, the mirrorless design appealed to me as well. Finally pulled the trigger, and glad I did. The lightweight size is great, and the digitalness of it all, well, isnt all that bad either. I can point and shoot in P mode, or ... Show More

Great M43 camera to check out the format
I was tired of lugging around my Nikon set up, looking for something lighter, but better than my phone. I also purchased the Oly 12-40 zoom and the Panasonic/Leica 15mm. I also used a Nikon lens adapter for my legacy 50mm. I enjoy being able to manually adjust settings, and have the option for auto. I just finished a trip into Yellowstone on snowmobiles, so found a couple of issues. When it was cold, the lens release button would not latch on a ... Show More

I bought this camera for UHD video and I'm pleased
I bought this camera for its ability to do UHD video and I'm pleased with the results. Why? 1. One battery in my tested lasted for about 1 hour 19 minutes (USA version) of non-stop UHD video 2. The camera didn't overheat 3. When the camera ran out of battery power it gracefully stopped (produced a single 40+ GB file that was closed properly by the camera software). IMHO that's an excellent behavior for video camera. In addition, IBIS, great, shar... Show More

Great Compact Camera
This is the first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera I've used. In the past, we've primarily shot with the Canon 5D Mark III for photos/video and Sony RX100 IV for video. For stills, I love that it gives me something in between to shoot with. Although I haven't done much in terms of switching the lenses yet, but I've liked how the photos have come out with the kit lens. You get great manual control and the camera shoots well in low light. I bought this as a smaller, lighter alternative to my DSLR for still photography. I tried a variety of micro 4/3rds and APS mirrorless cameras, including Olympus EM10 ii, Panasonic G7, Canon M5, and Fuji XT20. 4K with IBIS in a small bpdy
Initial impressions: Straight out of the box, I was impressed with how solid the camera feels. The shutter is quiet. Perhaps not as quiet as the Olympus E-M5 II but still quiet. Swicth to electronic shutter and the camera is silent. For me, the main attraction of this camera is the IBIS for video. I liked the E-M5 II for its IBIS in video but other aspects of the video quality were a problem, such as moire. The GX85 works very well using IBIS in ... Show More

Fast and capable
The two biggest reasons for upgrading to me were lens and speed. I have a 12 year old Fuji that was fantastic (I plan on keeping it), but it was cumbersome and very slow. A lag time of nearly a second on many types of pictures, and the exposures were slow also. The mirrorless construction of this camera allows nearly no lag time after the shutter press, and a quiet and vibration-free experience. The lens is not a Leica, but Panasonic does work wi... Solid
Before buying please try. I loaded the battery, turned the camera on then looked through the EVF. The 'tearing effect' reported in reviews was very apparent for me, making the camera not workable for me. The colors of the EVF are also cartoonish bright. I have a pana GM5 to compare it too (whose EVF is small, but seems to be a different technology). Panasonic make great cameras. But haptics matter too and even one thing (in my case the EVF) can ... Great image quality, poor ergonomics
I own this camera for about 2 weeks. I have and use several Nikon cameras including D810, D7000, and D5300. So I can compare. I like the camera so far. The image quality is really good. There is one real problem (for me): the layout of controls. The camera is not as light-weight as many cheap point-and-shoot. To handle it one has to use not just thumb but the palm (as you do with SLRs). All controls are on the right side and get pushed with your palm as you hold it firmly. It gets really annoying. If you can learn to hold it without pushing multiple buttons then it is a great small camera. :-)

Oner of the camera systems for us
4/3rds is working out well for us. Have Nikon and Sony FF which are great but the Lumix features and lenses being more compact and less expensive have become the equipment of choice for jobsite and brochure pictures. The GX85 is a versatile camera. the lenses could be a bit faster but are more than adequate for most of our work, and the quality of both the camera and the cost overall acquisition cost are relatively low which allows us to purchase additional equipment and remain within budget. B&H has become our preferred supplier and recommend them without any reservations.

Great price.
I bought the Panasonic Lumix GX85 back in February 2019. It was a great price at $497 at the time. I have since bought the Olympus 17mm f2.8 lens and it works great with the camera. Hope to buy the Panasonic 30mm f2.8 macro lens which is on sale. A note that seems to turn people off... you do have to charge the batteries in the camera. I have solved that by buying a charger that cost $9.99. So i highly recommend this camera. One last note, I do have big hands, so you have to watch what buttons or wheels you accidentally push - I have a few times changed the settings.
