Amazing Camera
This camera has a fantastic image, with the ability to get pretty descent Shallow DOF. With ND filters, XLR, image stabilization, and 4K imagery, one can use this camera to quickly capture uncontrolled action compared with a DSLR. I give this camera 5 stars!!

It's a complex camera with wonderful strengths & weaknesses
I loved my HPX170 and shot a whole series with it. Moved on to 4K. I must confess the camera's great when you're in its sweet zone. And can be a challenge otherwise without an external data recorder. I so wish it had 4:2:2 color natively. Check out our video here. All kinds of dramatic shooting and styles. https://youtu.be/05T4oBJZwyY

An extremely capable camera that delivers great images
For run and gun productions and news or documentary style filming, this performs well. I have a couple decades experience using camcorders, almost always in manual mode because the auto capabilities were not good enough. I took this cam into a building being constructed last week to get video of workers doing all kinds of jobs and moving quickly, shooting by myself with no crew. I decided to put into full auto and the results were pretty amazing.... Show More

Great point and shoot
This is a great grab and go camera that will give you some sharp footage. Bought to use for client Youtube videos/social media, but clients are wanting to use some of the footage for their television ads. It adapts very well to different lighting situations and gives you that nice crisp 4k clarity.

After more than 2 years it is still my go to camera
i shoot informercials and interviews. I have a pair of these as well as a GH5. All have been updated with Atomos recorders, Ninja Infernos on the DVX200s and a Ninja V on the GH5. I am just finishing the edits on a recent trade show collection of show floor interviews. This was my first production shot entirely in 10 bit UHD Vlog-L on the Atomos recorders. The color is stunning. I apply the Lemming LUTs designed for the GH5 and have little if any... Show More

LOVE THIS CAMERA!!!!
I'm an old Sony guy then graduated to HD with a Nikon DSLR. Once I got my hands on a demo of the DVX-200, I was totally blown away. It does EVERYTHING that I need. I'm a corporate, talking heads, video kind of guy as well as event video. This camera has held it's own on every occasion. The V-Log is AMAZING and when edited with Film Convert, you can't go wrong. I did a corporate video, shot in V-Log and gave them an option of the "Video" look and ... Show More

My goto camera
I have had the DVX200 for a few months now and I love it. I shoot a lot of reality travel shows, and it works very well. It replaces a Canon 5D Mark II as my main camera. Though I really like the death of field the 5D offers, the DVX200 does a pretty fine job also. It is a much better camera for the type of work I am presently doing. When a tripod I use it with a VariZoom VZ-ROCK-PZFI for zoom, focus, and iris control from handle on the trip... Show More

I shot an entire feature film with this!
All I can say is that, this is the best run and gun camera for multiple purposes. I shot an entire feature film titled PRIMARY HITMAN with this camera in 4K DCI. The image quality is stunning. It's very well built. The menu is simple and clear. The functions are very useable too. The integrated lens has a powerful motor. You can get wide shots, zoom shots, and touch a button for macro shots. This camera did everything. If there is a drawback, I'l... Show More

Solid
I've used Panasonic camcorders for the past 25+ years. This is a solid professional camera with a lot of different options. If you don't like the way it looks, you can change it. There are many options to customize the unit the way you want or you can select the standard default settings. For best results you'll have to spend time to get comfortable with it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because it might struggle in extreme low-light situations...and even then, it has a high sensitivity mode that gives more light. There is a lot to like about this camera.

Great potential but horrible results
Although I have purchased many items over the past 20 years from B&H, I bought this camera from my dealer in India. However, I thought I would review it here for the benefit of others. I'm a professional cameraman with over three decades of imaging experience, and have owned and used many cameras. I was excited about this camera, and bought it after reading many positive reviews. To make sure I was using it right, I read Barry Green's excellent g... Show More

Learn it. Love it.
I've been a still photojournalist for nearly 35 years, only recently working on short documentary projects. I've shot video with the Canon 60D and the Fuji XT-2 with fine results. A few weeks ago, I was sent to Mexico on a week-long mission trip. Knowing I would be working long days in a variety of locations and would be required to shoot on-site interviews, I needed a run and gun camera. There would be little time for switching lenses or syncing... Show More

Great first 4K camera
While some of the functional design might be slightly less than perfect, the images are great. Overall, once we mastered the operation of the unit, we have been quite pleased with the results. We came up thru the Panasonic ranks from a DVX100B, HVX200, to an AC160, and now the DVX200. Going from the 100 to the 160 was a breeze, but moving to the 200 has been a little slower. Again, the images have been very nice: sharp, deep, rich color, incred... Show More

I love this camera...
Best bang for the buck of professional features and ease of use. The menu structure takes a while to master. Just read the manual and watch all the online videos.

Fantastic if you read instructions
This is one of the best looking cameras I've ever used, but unless you read the manual and really understand video, you may get lost. Those who simply want to grab the camera out of the box and begin shooting will have trouble. Panasonic has built in a lot of professional engineering features that make the 4K picture one of the best on the market. This is not a low-end point and shoot camera - it is intended for professionals. But when set up pro... Show More

Focus Issues, not Parfocal and Sensor Crop makes this a 1
This camera is effectively useless when it comes to actual shooting. First the focus is herrendous, Panasonic claims it is parfocal when it is not, the camera frequently looses focus when zooming. The auto focus is just bad, it will focus on random stupid things and then go bezerk and just go to full blur. Unless you plan on stop filming, refocus and then resume filming you should look else where. there are far cheaper alternatives when it comes ... Show More

It grew on me, now I love using it.
I bought this camera back in March of 2017 and kept having mixed feelings about it so I waited to write my review. After practicing and working with the scene files, I finally got a picture that I really like. I had the Panasonic HMC150 for 5 years and it was my work horse camera. I've also been using a Canon 60D for video and that DSLR look made it hard to go back to more of a 'video' look. But after going through Barry Green's guide and trying ... Show More

So glad I bought the DVX200, perfect for many shoots
I can't say enough good things about this camera. The image quality blows me away every shoot, and isn't that the most important thing? I see people complaining about strange things with this camera, such as I hate the red color. Really? I've had mine for about 6 months, and I'm still saying wow every time I shoot with it. The LCD is so good, I am using my SmallHD AC7 monitor less frequently, which saves setup time and weight when holding the cam... Show More

Watch out for timecode
Over all it's a pretty good camera. But I have a bit of a gripe. The time code in is preset which means you can only sync your time code by going through the menu and syncinng manually AND only at that moment. After syncing, it is left to drift over the day. This is a pretty annoying inconvenience for those of us who record sound seperately (which you should all consider if you are contemplating cameras of this kind). This is a replacement to our... Defective Neutral Density Filters
The ND or Neutral Density filters for the Panasonic DVX200 will burn if you shoot video of the sun in certain conditions. Beware. A fatal flaw for my shooting abilities and needs. The ND filter will burn a hole and render this camera useless in a matter of seconds. Beware. I tested three different new cameras and they all burned. Sorry for the bad review, I was looking forward to using this camera. But the ND filters cannot withstand heat of the sunlight.

Footage has a Green Tint
I just bought my DVX200 4k and I shot on 2 productions (Dance and Theatre) and for the same production. My settings were generic..Scene 1; 3200 preset. Why is the camera putting out a Green Tint? I have used my HVX200 on these same productions for the same production and never had this issue. Has anyone experienced this problem or is my camera a lemon? Thanks in advance for any advice....Jimmy

Good value, ugly red plastic
This camera has many great features. Not so good in low light, because it's a 4/3 sensor. I just have to figure out how to cover that ugly red plastic! It fits in the Pelican case I got for my HVX200.

Out of the box there were problems! That should never be!
I urgently needed a 4k cam immediately. I had a positive history of purchasing b'cast gear at BH so I turned to them for the first time in years. I discussed with the 'pro' gear advisor the choices available to me. I was leaning toward the HVX 1, but it is new on the market, and there were no reviews available. The bh guy steered me toward the much more expensive dvx 200. He warned me that the others were being returned in droves, and that they h... Show More
