Distorts at 96kHz, Poor Software
Bought the MAYA22 to replace a Creative sound card that had been used to digitize vinyl and old cassette tapes. Immediately tried recording at 96kHz using the ESI-supplied ASIO driver and was greeted with horrible distortion. Switched to 44.1kHz and everything was fine. Works and sounds great!
The MAYA 22 USB is a great little interface for people in the go and features 1/4 balanced outputs. The quality of the device as well as the sound quality is quite good and based on years of experience in professional audio hardware design. When running audio USB devices, one needs to be mindful of running higher sample rates on CPU load. As well, users need to ensure they are using a USB 2.0 port many systems have older ports or ones that won't sufficiently power a USB bus powered audio device reliably or offer enough bandwidth for higher sample rates.
