I purchased this to add shotgun capability to my Sony UWP plug-on transmitter for wireless shotgun while shooting weddings. You can't always attach a lavalier mic to the bride due to her expensive gown--sometimes you just need a Plan B. A non-conspicuous shotgun mic on a non-conspicuous stand can be just the solution you need. This mic is better than a Rode mic and offers the option for wireless. Great job, Sony.

Very good microphone.
This microphone is a very good value for the money. It is quiet and has good sound, very little handling noise witch makes it great for camera mounting. The mic is short but still quite directional. I am using this on a PMW-EX1 and it is a nice improvement over the camera's onboard mics. The mic is finished with gray paint which doesn't seem like it will hold up too well, but this is a minor thing to me. A very good product overall.

Bought this to use with Sony HVR-Z1U and work very well.Do not need battery.Do good job for weddings.
