Great wide angle for the A-mount
The lens lives up to the Zeiss logo. Has very good build quality, excellent contrast and colors. The autofocus motor is very silent too. However, my copy back focused and needed micro-adjustment. This is the second Zeiss lens I own that came with back focus problems out of the box, which is why I am only giving this a 4 star. Issues like this are ridiculous for such as high priced lens. However, Sony support has been good with servicing the lens ... Show More

Beautiful lens
I love how wide of an image it can take. I have been wanting a wide lens for a while now and this was a perfect choice for me. Have not had a chance to take it outside yet to take any landscape pictures. Type a few pictures inside and be lens lets a lot of light in and the quality is amazing.

Great Lens
Great Sharpness, works best in manual focus, very little to no distortion at the right distance, and great durable design. Best Lens I've used for wide angle and landscape photos.

Very very good
This lens is very sharp and has no distortion, the wide view is superb. It is a top of the line piece of glass. The build quality is excellent and I like the small size.

Very good wide angle fast lens
On my A900:In absolute term, this ZA 24/2 is not as good as ZA 50/1.4 and ZA 85/1.4. Mainly due to the wave like field curvature, and it makes this lens looks much wrost on a flat target test shot like map on the wall. However, this weakness becomes much less a problem in real world 3D subject with selected local focus point. When compared to a similarly spec lens like Sigma 24/1.8, the ZA 24/2 clearly has better sharpness, contrast, focus speed, and focus accuracy.

You can judge this book by its cover
I write for an online magazine and in the process of writing about restaurants I discovered that I did not have a wide angle lens to shoot the interior of the restaurants. I purchased this lens after doing much research and I have not been disappointed. I use Sony kit and this lens is as sharp as a tack, with great resolution, very little distortion and vibrant colours. And the best thing about this Carl Zeiss lens on a Sony is having autofocus. Very happy with this lens.

I love it.
It is such a well made lens, solid, easy to use, I was trying to shoot a picture hanging on the wall in an interior room on my computer screen, I can get so close to my computer screen and crop the picture on the wall, I got exactly what I wanted. I was debating should I buy th less expensive E mount 24 mm f/1.8 lens, it is much lighter, but I don't like the filter screw mechanism, finally I got A mount 24 mm f/2, I love it.

Great lens but watch out for flare
Great lens, performs well with little distortion. Relatively sharp wide open, light, and high focus speed. One down side is flaring, which may bother most users.

Awesome Lens!!!
Use this lens on my Sony SLT-A55v and DSLR-A550. Images are extremely sharp. Focus is fast and works great when shooting video. It is a little pricey, but I no complaints about the quality.

got a poor representative of this lens
After pre-ordering this lens and reading all the excellent test results I was not happy to receive a lens that produced out of focus images. after much testing and comparing the results to other lenses for my Sony 850 I had to return the lens. It seems that quality control can be lacking even for a relatively expensive lens.

The best Sony Zeiss yet....seriously!
I own all of the Sony Zeiss and Sony G lenses and use them extensively on my A900. All I can say is this is the best lens I have ever used - period. I suppose you'd need to upgrade to a Leica M system to find anything comparable. Having used Canon for 15 years, I can say that there isn't a lens in that lineup that can touch this lens for color, contrast and across the range sharpness in this focal length. It sports amazing build quality in a dens... Show More

A Great Sony Ziess Wide Angle Prime

Probably the best 24 you can buy!
I'm a professional photographer for over twenty years and for most of those years, shot Zeiss lenses on either Rolleiflexes or Hasselblads, I bought the Sony a900 the week it was released and, before that, shot the Canon 5D with Zeiss MF lenses. This is the lens I wanted when I first moved to Sony and it sure took long enough for them to release it. Fortunately, the wait was really worth it. It's actually my first ZA lens as I mostly shoot wider ... Show More

I love my Sony CZ 24mm f2.0 lens
I preordered this lens after long time of anticipation. The lens resolution is excellent; the file size from my Sony a700 is above 12 MB. The lens is slightly lighter than my CZ 85 f1.4 lens. Depth of field is nice. Silent motor that I can hardly hear, accurate fast focusing, no hunting. At 7.5 inch minimum focucing distance, you can use it as a close up lens. Having a large diameter, I thick helps minimize distortion associated with wide angle. ... Show More
