Good images, a little concerned!
Got the camera JUST before 16 day trip to Scotland. Easy enough to use, but lost battery charger at first stop. Three batteries I carried were depleted WAY sooner than I expected. Even turned off large screen and used eye finder only. Also lens cover stuck once, needed a touch to fully open, never near moisture or sand, dust. Would recommend depending on needed size, etc. Four other Lumix owners on tour, none had matching batteries to use their charger. Images are OK for price.

Great, full-featured camera for the money.
Bought a refurbished Lumix because it fit my budget. No other small camera offers a viewfinder, and trying to take pictures without one drives me nuts. This one, with the diopter that switches from lcd screen to viewfinder when it senses your eye, is neat, and has incredibly sharp detail. The camera itself is easy to use, though it's easy to hit the wrong button (video instead of still). Excellent picture quality, from what I can tell after only ... Show More

Whole lotta camera
Incredible for it's size the 30x brings it in and the auto intelligent mode wows me every time I use it. I am an advanced semi-pro who just wanted a simple on the go device without over analyzing the finer details. This camera at this price point is amazing, I don't expect perfection but a very good overall performance with a fairly intuitive menu and 2 setting selection knobs AND an optical/focusing viewfinder...WOW.

Great travel zoom camera, highly recommend it
This refurbished camera looks, feels and works like new with all factory accessories, documentation, etc. included. It is a wonderful travel camera with a powerful optical zoom going out to 720mm. Auto focus and auto exposure is accurate and reliable, a bit slow but only if compared to larger and more expensive bridge cameras. The view finder is small and needs getting used to if you wear glasses, but it is tack sharp and clear. Getting GPS information by employing Panasonic's smart phone Image App is easy.

Great bargain
I bought this to carry around when a DSLR is not convenient. I know the shutter lag is there but not as bad as most compacts and phones. The only real drawback is that the case does not have a belt loop or clip. I will resolve that with a strap and rivets.

It was an excellent purchase, especially from B&H.
The ZS50 is a wonderfully compact point and shoot camera with all the advantages of automation and plenty of opportunity for customization. Neatly fits into purse or a case around the neck, and ready in a jiffy to take a picture and plenty of it in stills or full HD-video. For security and preparedness do buy a spare battery, and all will be well.

Great little package!
I have a larger DSLR for use when not traveling that takes wonderful photos. However, I needed a compact P&S to take on vacation this summer that didn't take up much space or was very heavy. Research showed me the way to this little Lumix. As of right now, I'm thrilled with it's size, the quality of the photos and the large zoom that's packed into the little package. Am still working out shooting in lowlight situations, but so far, am very pleased with the results. I think I've gotten a winner and will get some great shots in Italy this summer.

Does everything I wanted it to do
I was looking for a compact camera to take when I travel to avoid having to take my DSLR and lenses. My requirements were that it needed a viewfinder and it needed to shoot RAW. This camera fit both of those requirements. I had a little trouble navigating the menus at first because they are different from the Canon menus that I'm used to. Definitely take a peek at the Advanced manual that comes on the CD if you're looking for anything other than ... Show More

Best Camera I've Ever Had
I'm thrilled with this camera. It's remarkably well-designed and approachable, yet loaded with easy to find and access options that bring together the best of point-and-shoot, manual, and custom settings. It's lightweight. The grip is perfect. The Leica lens exceeds my expectations. I just love it.

More or less OK
I purchased this mainly for travel, for when I don't want to carry around my DSLR, or when my real cameras and lenses have to be stowed. My very old Lumix DMC-FX580 was starting to have intermittent playback issues and I feared for its survival. Actually, I think the old one may be better. It has fewer features--doesn't shoot in RAW, for example--but I think the quality may be just as good PLUS it's truly a pocket-size even with small pockets. Th... Show More

Sleeper, excellent camera
Excellent camera, I didn't think that the 750mm telephoto would be usable but it is very sharper. See the photo attached taken at 15 meters.

Didn't Fall Into the Trap
I loved my Canon SX50 and when the SX60 was released I jumped in and bought it thinking it would be even better--big mistake. Canon raised the MP's (and its price) but kept the sensor small size amounting to lousy pictures. So when Panasonic did the same thing I didn't fall for it. My ZS50 is great. I have all the super cameras--the 5d's and the 800 and 810 and the RX-1, but I need something I can conveniently stick in my pocket. I'm not certain ... Show More

SMALL AND VERY CAPABLE
The photos were better then expected. Many great features in a small package. Good job by Panasonic! Do not get it if you do not like reading manuals.

Great buy!
Nice camera. I bought it for travel & I love it. Excellent value for the $. Can't tell from new. Only difference is the plain brown box it came in. So far I'm very pleased with the images, nice & impressively sharp. I also love the RAW capability where the value (to me) is in the cleaner images (meaning no jpeg artifacts). Professional reviews state that RAW images don't contain much more shadow or highlight detail than out-of-camera jpegs, and they're right. I just prefer the look of processed RAW files more than the jpeg output.

Excellent as always
I had ZS7, two ZS10, ZS25 and finally I got this one. Very impressed with nice bright screen, EVF, manual focusing, 30x zoom and other nice features in such small and beautiful package. The only pros - made in China. All my previous ZSs were made in Japan, but not a big deal. Definitively can recommend for everyone who wants quality pictures and video without carrying tons of equipment.

Manual difficulties
Some difficulties in interpreting the menu system and the settings for Manual focus. It works fine in P A and S but I can't get the focusing ring to work in M and MF. Also ISO auto doesn't appear in M mode.

Great zoom and convenient size.
This camera has an excellent optical zoom range along with a viewfinder (good screen too). It is compact and not heavy. The only drawbacks are that the battery must be charged while in the camera and the image size is not very high. However with the excellent zoom capacity, the subject matter can still retain a reasonable amount of detail.

Top notch Compact Camera.
I purchased this refurbished Lumix DMC-ZS50 for my wife, she has a DSLR but likes a compact camera for candid round town shots. Because her vision is less than 20/20, she really needed a compact camera with a viewfinder which are hard to find, when I saw the refurbished Lumix for sell at B&H at such a good price, I decided it would be a perfect match for my wife. When it arrived we were amazed at condition of the camera, it was indistinguishable ... Show More

Great Camera!
This small, lightweight camera has a long lens that can really bring in those far away objects, birds, flowers, trees, etc. It also has WiFi built in along with a GPS so you always know where your pictures were taken. You can operate it in fully automatic mode and get great photos or you can get creative and go to full manual to make photos look the way you want, i.e. stop action, blurred background, etc. This is a very nice camera for someone who wants good pictures but doesn't want to carry or learn how to use a DSLR.

Does What it is Supposed To
I got this puppy to replace a new one I got about 6 months ago whose screen died--it is currently being repaired by Panasonic under Warranty, but I needed a pocket camera for an upcoming trip, and couldn't wait for the repair. I've had 3 of these model's ancestors, replacing each when the new one came out. This is a game of diminishing returns, as the last ones are already about as good as this genre can get. My real camera is an Oly E-M1. Are th... Show More

Good as Expected from Panasonic
Got this for making-of video during our feature shoots and for snapshots. As with the other Panasonic gear I use the design is great. Everything works as hoped for. Much better than the camera it replaced. Video is good and the audio is good. (This replaced a Canon S110 which had an awful clicking sound in the audio when shooting video. Had to remove it with de-clicking software to use the footage.)

I will NEVER buy Panasonic again!
This camera was great for the first few weeks i had it. It suddenly stopped working and I was instructed to send it to Panasonic for repair. They've had it for 2 months now and can't seem to find out what's wrong with it. I call and they keep asking me the same questions ie what's wrong with it? Panasonic is THE WORST company to deal with. They have basically stolen my camera! DON'T BUY PANASONIC
