Lens

Jun 27, 2018

I wanted to purchase this lens for a while but when looking online at other suppliers sadly it was out of stock. Nevertheless my perseverance paid off when I came across your website simply out of chance hence browsed your webpage and saw you had it in stock. Placed the order accordingly but to my amazement I saw that it was a next day delivery...hooray. The lens does exactly what it says in the box, good quality photos with great results. Very pleased.

Amazing lens for the price

Oct 28, 2015

I use this lens when I travel. I carry a FF Nikon and it gets to be too big and heavy at times. I am amazed at the quality of the pictures that this lens produces. The 150mm gives me very similar pictures as my 28-300 FF lens and it is so much smaller and easier to handle. There are many places that I travel that I do not feel comfortable, due to crowds and/or distance that I walk that the small size is very desirable. Great lens for the price and size.

Don't let price fool you

I use this on an Olympus E-M1, came in a bundle along with the Olympus 12-40MM F/1.8 Pro series. Like having a VW in the garage next to the Audi, yes it's not all what the Pro line is, but for great shots around the yard, portraits of the kids or the dog, it will certainly give better result than that smartphone.I think more users would rate it higher if the price point was $$--just as people believe that Audi with VW parts is a better vehicle!

Good Travel Lens

Jun 26, 2013

I've used this lens now for several weeks and I'm very happy with the results, primarily for outdoor shooting while on vacation. It's very sharp and produces beautiful results. I primarily shoot without a tripod and have no issues with the quality of my pictures. It is not as diverse as the 14-150, but I have to expect that given the price and it being the 40-150mm version of course. Overall a great product and I'm happy with the purchase.

Big reach but not much to carry

Nov 10, 2016

I wished that all my lenses were as well built, lite, and easy to operate as the M. Zuiko ED 40-150mm zoom. As travel photographer that takes nature and wildlife shots, I travel with minimalistic intent and that carry-on weight is on my mind for long voyages. The lens is well built, but not with a lot of metal; it does have metal where it counts, however. What is amazing is holding an equivalent 300mm lens in the palm of your hand.

Excellent and Inexpensive

May 1, 2013

I bought this lens to complement the 14-45mm lens that came with my Panasonic Lumix G5 kit. I was concerned about an Olympus lens working on a Lumix body but it works great! The AF works without any problem. It produces some nice, clear photos. The zoom range is quite usable for many shots without having to resort to another lens. I found that I cannot produce a small depth-of-field shot due to f/4.0. Overall, I like the lens.

very lightweight for a very sharp lens!

Dec 24, 2012

Perfect for carrying in a small camera case, or pack, or purse for the ladies. Although it does almost double in length when zoomed to maximum focal length it still balances well on the smaller cameras (my E-PL5). 35mm equiv. = 80-300mm zoom which is perfect for portrait length to moderate telephoto. With a good quality close up lens this will capture close ups of small insects or flowers. Making an inexpensive macro lens.

Slow but good image quality

Jul 30, 2019

I bought this lens as a replacement for the original version which had quit working. I was very happy with the original up to the point that it failed to work. The zoom ring on this new lens is not nearly as smooth in operation as my old one & has a stiff point around the 100mm mark. Other than that it is equal to my old lens. It would be nice to see a faster intermediate lens between this model & the pro model.

At this price its hard to ask for more

Nov 20, 2015

This lens is a phenomenal lens to buy as your first after the kit lens. It provides excellent telephoto reach and is quick to focus and produces sharp and pleasing photos. The build quality and slow aperture are the only real downsides but at this price you can't for more than what you get. Bear in mind there is no IS so I only recommend buying this you have an Olympus camera with in body IS or panasonic's gx7 or gx8.

Meets and goes beyond my expectations.

Apr 9, 2013

I love this lens because it enables me to take pictures of birds and plants, i.e. cactus blooms so I do not have to go in the field to shoot. This lens is very easy to use for the purposes I needed it for. I was able to obtain this lens by trading in my previous camera. This has enabled me to be a step closer to my goal of becoming a better photographer. The only thing I do not like is the fear of losing my lens cap.

WOW update

Jun 3, 2016

I've already given my review. Had a chance to do some shot locally and wanted to share a couple images that show off how nice this lens is. Both were shot around 2 pm and it was very sunny. You really do get a lot of bang for your buck. It is a plastic, light weight lens with great glass, but take care of it and it will last a long time. Images are very usable SOOC. Only some minor basic editing done. No cropping.

Exactly what I needed

Apr 4, 2019

I had hoped that Olympus would come out with a zoom lens to go with my Olympus Pen F. When I saw this one advertised by B&H and the excellent price and overnight delivery I did not hesitate to order it. That turned out to be a smart move indeed. I have a Leica zoom lens with almost exact focal lengths as this lens but much heavier and larger by far. I would highly recommend this lens to any Olympus customer.

does the job

Jul 2, 2012

Does what it should and does it reasonably well. Focus is fast enough and pictures are fine. Compact and light. All in all I think it's good value for money, but there's a few shortcomings. This is my first Oly m43 lens, and I don't think the built quality is as good as the Pana lens I have (14,20,14-45). Plastic mount probably works fine, but I'd prefer metal. I'd also like to see a bag and hood included.

Nothing better for the price

Mar 25, 2019

I needed a lens to record a wedding ceremony on my gh5s. I knew I would be near the back of the venue, and that I would need at least 100mm to get close to the action. I was surprised to see this lens on sale for only $100. It is very sharp and as long as the lighting is sufficient the variable f-stop wont be an issue. I would recommend this to anyone who intends to use it on a tripod with manual focus.

Great lens for the Price

Nov 18, 2015

I bought this lens on sale. I wanted a telephoto lens for OMD EM5 Mark II to compliment the kit lens that I bought with the camera. It works very well so far. When I use the macro adapter that I also bought with it, I can now take macro shots and get some great bokeh! It's not a Pro lens so it's not as sharp as I assume the Pro version would be but for my purposes it fits the bill at a very good price.

Great Lens

Sep 4, 2012

Used for sports photography at equestrian events. Not the best lens for dusty environments (not sealed), but that was known up-front. Handled itself well. Bokeh is OK at 150mm across a riding-ring. AF gave me some trouble when pointing at a subject from a distance, but my lack of experience is probably to blame. Not a great low-light lens. This amateur photographer gives this lens a 5-star rating.

Great lens for price

Jan 2, 2014

This lens gives me what I wanted-good, smooth zoom, and functionality. It feels a little cheap compared to other lenses as far as materials on the outside, but that isn't a problem to me. It is not a good lens for Macro use, but you shouldn't be looking at a 40mm lens for that anyway. At the lowest aperture setting, it is a little tough to use in low light, but I still think it's a good value.

Quite good for the price

Apr 25, 2018

A really good lens considering price. Of course the EV or ISO has to be cranked because of the aperture limit but for $1300 less than the pro model I can live with it. I use my MFT mostly for travel and it should be noted that my FF kit has all pro glass. The one thing that I hate, hate, hate with Olympus is that the lens hood is sold separately. Just add the 18 bucks to the price already.

Good value lens produces nice images

Dec 12, 2017

This cheap telephoto zoom makes a great complement to the kit lens that comes with your Micro Four Thirds camera, allowing you to zoom in on distant subjects. At f/4-5.6, it's not great in dim lighting conditions, but when the sun's out it gets the job done fine. Optically, it is very good for a lens at this price point. Images are sharp, and optical aberrations are minimal. Recommended.

Great Bang For Buck

Dec 15, 2013

I was looking for an inexpensive zoom when I wanted the convenience of a zoom with decent enough IQ. Great bargain, purchased for $ during a special. I don't know if I would pay the normal $ retail price. IQ seems decent enough, it certainly won't be replacing any of my MFT primes. Lens is light weight and construction isn't heavy duty but certainly inexpensive enough to replace.

Excellent Lens for the $$$!!! Fast AF. Sharp images! Slight blurring edges towards the long end of the bottle. Nothing unusable. I tried in a few situations. Long lens outdoors. Long Lens for my son's hockey game. I got some great action shots. I'm using with Lumix G3 so no image stabilization. I would recommend this to all the micro 4/3 community!!! M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R Lens (Black) by Olympus The zoom range of the lens is quite good in practicable shooting situations, however the reletave apature of f4 is quite slow. in full frame 35mm size (24x36mm) it is equivelent to approx 80mm to 300mm, an ideal and very usefull lens apature would be f2 across the zoom range Jerry Creaney D.O.P MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA

Nice addition to my micro 4/3 kit for my BMPCC

Aug 25, 2015

I own a couple of Blackmagic Cinema Cameras that use micro 4/3 lenses. I have a Lumix 12 - 35 mm 2.8 which is awesome. This 40 to 150 takes me pretty far given the crop factor. It is best to use this lens on a tripod because it doesn't have IS. And it is not a fast lens, so you will be limited to well lit scenes. The good news is the price. For the money it is a great lens.
