Great for saving face

Jun 11, 2015

I use my DJI Phantom 2 for Real estate, and short films, and recently purchased the prop guards to help protect those curious (and somewhat clueless) people around me. I'm so glad I did! After flying in NAZA mode to get some more precise shots, I was bringing it in for a landing when a spectator came out of nowhere to ask me a question, and walked straight into my landing zone. the quad copter descended right into him, and if it weren't for the p... Not so good

Nov 30, 2015

I wanted to like this product very much. Unfortunately the experience did not match my hopes. The Good News: Phantom 3 Advanced remote controller and quad-copter perform as advertised. Nice videos and still shots. The (Very) Bad News: The DJI Go application worked poorly at first ... then not at all. Without the DJI Go application you have no way to see what your flying camera is actually capturing in real time. Also almost all of the really neat... Show More

Only use when necessary.

Jul 1, 2014

The product itself meets expectations. It is easy to mount and if you have a little landing tipover/similar, it will help save your props. However, for Phantom 2s, it is not recommended to fly with these all the time. Firstly, I get about 2 to 2:30 extra flying time with no prop guards. (I keep a log of all my flights.) But most importantly, prop guards create instability. Especially on gusty days, you will find that occasionally, your Phantom wi... Show More

AVOID - Adversely affects flight!

May 5, 2014

Good in theory, but not worth it. Props were seemingly a good value, easy to install, and I'm sure do their job when putzing around, but these guards sit just below the props and affect flight. On my first flight with the guards on I cut all the way back on the throttle (to initiate full descent) and it immediately caused the copter to completely lose control. Fortunately I had a lot of elevation and was lucky to regain control just a few feet ov... Show More

Just Get Them

Dec 17, 2014

For beginners, until you get the hang of flying your drone, I highly recommend these. Also recommended for intricate flying (near trees or other structures). Beware of knockoffs! There are cheaper versions out there, but apparently they cause a lot of instability and are not a good fit (props hit the prop guards). Biggest CON: This is not a quick installation/removal process. There are 2 screws that need to be removed from under each of the drone... Show More

guards or no guards?

Apr 15, 2015

Did you just buy your Phantom but you're not sure if you should get the prop guards or not? Well, here's my advice: get 'em. They're $ and they're good for one thing...peace of mind. Put mine on the first day and learned to fly with confidence. Never even came close to crashing. I've taken them off since, but that was because they're big and they get in the shot when you accelerate quickly. And for those who say they cut down on flight time, I don't find that to be true at all. So... what's the big deal? You just spent a $ on the quadcopter, what's another $.

Must own for all DJI Phantom owners

Dec 3, 2014

The prop guards from DJI are an absolute must own for any Phantom owner. These create a physical barrier between your props and any hazard that you may and probably will come in contact with. These will save you from breaking or chipping props and help keep your Phantom flying even after contact. I have had the unfortunate experience of crashing mine with a tree it couldn't recover and fell 30 feet to the ground. Two prop guards were damaged as well as three props were destroyed but there wasn't a scratch on the Phantom itself. Thanks to these prop guards.

Do the job, but only good for one hit.

Jun 23, 2014

They do the job I guess, but are not able to sustain even a moderate hit to any hard object without busting. I hit my garage door on takeoff, and broke two of the three struts on one guard. I really didn't feel that the impact was that great. I suspect that the best application is for use around dense foliage where you might brush weeds or a few leaves.I will replace the broken guard, but I hope this will not become a regular thing. When the guards are going for about $$ for four, and props are only about $$ a pair, you have to wonder if it's worth it.

Necessity for DJI Phantom 2, P2V, P2V+

Apr 25, 2014

Smart to use when Phantom 2 blades are activated. Semi-protects fingers, which semi-protects the props themselves. Also protects props from close encounters with trees, shrubbery, and just about anything else. Very light-weight but plenty sturdy. Easy and quick to install for flights and to uninstall for storage. DJI should be include these as standard equipment. PLEASE NOTE that these DJI Prop Guards are for the LONGER blades of the Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision, and Phantom 2 Vision+. The prop guards for earlier Phantom models are too small to work.

Way too hard to install/remove

Jun 3, 2014

These prop guards are great for protecting your investment, but once installed, your copter becomes so big that it won't fit in any case/backpack! Each of the 4 guards is held in with 2 little screws that are super easy to lose, and require a tool to remove. If you plan on leaving the guards on, then you'll find them useful. If you plan on removing them after each flight so you can easily cary/store your quadcopter, you'll hate these. A smarter, quick-release system would be so much better and deserving of 5 stars.

Better Than Any Other Factory Prop Guard

May 26, 2015

Very sturdy, lightweight prop guards.Bought these with a new drone after an unfortunate incident with the previous drone, a tree and some concrete. They were much better than ones available *(which I had previously bought). With the DJI prop guards, you can immediately feel the strength and durability in the lightweight frame. It hardly adds much weight to the drone, but it does, however, extend into the line of sight of the camera, so that just has to be accounted for by tilting the camera down a little farther.

Must have for phantom

Mar 9, 2015

I use these with some 3-d printed quick-attach mounts I bought from Atlanta Hobby. I'm able to put these on and take them off to fit my drone in my case. These have DEFINITELY saved me from crashing by deflecting branches and other obstacles. Also, the times I crashed they've protected my props and motors and probably helped cusion the fall. I'd recommend these for ALL pilots, not just new. Probably would protect bystanders if a drone went out of control. I dont use with the string since take them on and off.

Pretty Good

Mar 21, 2015

They aren't quite as strong as I would like them to be. They saved several blades as I was learning to better land, tipping over once on the ground was a bit of a problem. On mild crashes they bend upon hitting the ground and allow blades to chip and break. I gave them four stars because despite allowing some blades to break, they protect more blades than they allow to break. As an added bonus they help the drone roll on the harder landings. I certainly would suggest everyone pick up a pair of these.

Prop guards are a No Brainer!

May 14, 2014

The prop guards for the Phontom 2 are something you should buy without hesitation. I bought them and installed them in 5 minutes before my first flight and they paid for themselves right away. Although easy to fly, the Phantom still takes a little getting used to. I did crash mine into a tree, twice, it just bounced off the branches and I never damaged a prop due the the guards. It also makes it safer to operate when flying around other people. Great insurance at a low price!

Good Protection, Decreased Agility

Apr 28, 2014

They do a great job of adding a little protection. However the underside of the guard is hollow on one side, basically making like an air scoop. Makes the flight less controlled and flight is more affected by wind. I had my hardest crash ever because of these guards. When descending they caught wind and the whole Copter lost control and slammed into the concrete. I am on the fence about using them again. Good in theory however feel like the design could be more aerodynamic.

PV2 Prop Guard

Jul 15, 2014

I bought my Phantom from a reseller that put together a big package with lots of extra parts, including Prop Guards. Since they were the first Prop Guards I'd ever seen, I didn't realize how flimsy they were until my Phantom drop out of the sky from about 30 feet and all 4 were destroyed. Then, I went to B&H to buy replacements and they sent me authentic DJI Prop Guards and they are MUCH beefier than my original. They already survived one impact with no problem.

A nice addition for NEW Phantom Pilots

Oct 4, 2014

These official prop guards are great. Don't expect to be able to use these if you've purchased a fancy case for your Phantom as they add too much bulk and they're not the clip on type. You have to use the provided screws to connect them to the motors. You don't need to keep them on forever of course, that's up to you and your level of confidence but it does add some extra prop protection if you're prone to ground loops and getting too close to trees/fences/etc.

Excellent Product! But could be easier to remove..

Jun 11, 2015

These props are really good for what they do. they will absolutely protect your propellors and are a must have for any beginner or someone flying in an area that in close proximity to people or objects. the only downside is that you literally have to screw them in to attach and unscrew to detach. If only they would create a version that allows to to click in and click off I know that knock offs exist like that, but not official ones from DJI.

Not really needed

Oct 19, 2014

While I can see that they would be useful, the design of them requires that they be screwed into the unit. By doing this, you will not be able to store the P2V/P2V+ in any of the cases that are also purchase-able at B&H. So, if you want to store it out in the open, by all means, they could be valuable. Otherwise (and I was a complete novice when I purchased my P2V+) the flying is simple enough that you should be OK without them.

Need Protection

Mar 6, 2015

They certainly help extend the life of blades. I have still managed to break blades, but they keep it from happening every time the drone tips over on landing. I managed to make my drone roll across a parking lot like a soccer ball and the guards only allowed for two broken blades and soaked up a lot of the energy from the crash. The will not be leaving my drone until at the least I get very good at flying. They also look nice.

Phantom Prop guards.. A Must!

Aug 21, 2014

Prop guards are an important safety feature for the Phantom Quad Copters. I am an experienced RC enthusiast and feel that they ought to be considered required equipment. I know people that have gotten their hands or fingers caught in the props and they were cut up bad. Also they will save you lots of money and grief when your Phantom tips over in the wind on a landing or when you inevitably bump into a tree or car or house....

Saved my propellers

Feb 2, 2016

I had just bought these for my Vision 2 Plus, threw them on (which actually takes a little work unscrewing the pieces with a small allen key)...My first flight with them on went without a hitch, but my second flight for some reason, unknown to me, the back to motors didn't fire as strong and the drone flipped vertical and came towards me, if not for these guards I would have most likely broken all 4 blades instead of just 1.

Does the job

Jul 24, 2014

The product works well in protecting the phantom 2 from minor bumps into obtacles but they are a hassle to put on and take off especially if the phantom doesn't fit in the case with the guards on.I would reccommend the prop guards but keep in mind that they are NOT fullproof. You're phantom won't be able to survive flying full speed into an object. Also, the top of the props will still be vulnerable even with the guards on.

Highly Recommended - Saves Props

Jun 23, 2014

I purchased prop guards when I purchased my Phantom 2 V+ and I believe it was a very wise decision. I've only had one tip over landing but it saved the props. One consideration is that I beleive the added weight of the prop guards causes the Phantom to use up the battery quicker. I am getting 15 - 20 minutes versus 20 - 25 minutes. However, I am willing to sacrifice 5 minutes to save my expensive OEM props.
