Beautiful photos and easy to use so far
My wife & I just got this camera - we are beginning photographers, with a bit of knowledge. So far we are impressed with the quality of photos we have taken, along with the ease of use of the camera for a beginner who hasn't really read the manual yet or figured out the fancy stuff yet. I think we'll enjoy it when we get there, but my point is that this camera has advanced features, but is still simple enough that someone dumb like me can use it basically straight out of the box.

Great Little Camera
This camera is small, light and handy. It takes great pictures and video. It does exactly what it's advertised to do. I use it mainly for handheld video and with a grip it is the ultimate 'run and gun' rig. I had to attach a dslr shotgun mic and a small recorder to get good audio so I wish the a5100 had a microphone input. I don't miss a viewfinder, the screen works fine. Low light is great but video only goes up to ISO 12,600, which isn't that bad. The lens seems sharp.

Perfect size camera for travellers!
I absolutely love that this small camera give me so great images. A lot of features that I'm still learning but I fell like I have a professional camera in my hands with the sixe of a point and shoot!I did regret not having a viewfinder, on the sun you cant see on the LCD, but the a6000 was too big for me. Its such a shame on sony that they didnt do this size camera with a viewfinder, i would have paid $ dollars more for that, but I wanted a small camera!!!

Very happy
I have been wanting this camera for a while now and it was a toss up between the 5100 and the 6000. I chose the 5100 because the 180 feature of the display made me very happy. That feature is the best part of the camera and it was well worth the extra money to get the deluxe version with the extra goods. I plan on using this camera as much as I can especially in the summer when the weather is nice out.

Nice and Small, Good Photos
Was looking for an alternative to a DSLR when not wanting to carry a big camera. The large sensor gives excellent low light picture quality just like a DSLR, the size is nice and small. Its light and inconspicuous. Only minor issue is the kit lens is a little soft in the left corners. 16mm is nice and wide, wish it went to 70mm but then it would be larger. Very good and exactly what I was looking for.

Best Camera at This Price Range!
I'm doing a video review because there's just too much to talk about for this camera. I compared this to my Canon T3i and it's like apples to oranges. Pros *Small form factor (BOTH A PRO AND A CON) *Easy to use *Beats my Canon in low light Cons *No hotshoe or mic input (EVEN THOUGH I NEVER USE THIS FEATURE, I RECORD DUAL SYSTEM SOUND) *No viewfinder

little wonder
it's so easy taking a beautiful shot with this camera, even in low light. paired with the 35mm f/1.8 OSS it's like a dream. i prefer it over the a6000 who has very poor battery life and lcd screen. better in low light and autofocus than the Nex 7. i had issues with the touchscreen and had to disabled it, that's why i don't give 5 stars.

Quality
I bought this camera in order to shoot my sisters graduation and I am pretty disappointed in how the pictures turned out. The quality is nothing like that of a $400 camera. I took better photos on my iPhone. The wi-fi capability also did not work. Loved B&Hs customer service, the product just was not good.

Previous version was better
A little bit disapointed. I had the previous version the NEX 5 It looked better, screen bigger, and with manual zoom. This one has a Digital zoom, which makes it feel " cheap " and anacurate. Was expecting better. Photo quality is OK. Wifi photo extremely slow. Not a big fan at all !!

Light and capable camera
Great little camera. Makes pics as good or superior than Canon 80D in a tiny package. Would buy it again for sure. Only downside (for me) is processing time after taking a long exposure. Too long. Other than this, just awesome. For vloggers, this is the ticket.

Picture quality
Bought this camera for my sisters graduation. While loading the pictures to the computer I noticed the picture quality was definitely not that of a really expensive camera. Not only that, but the internet feature did not work. A little disappointed.

Great camera!
I've been wanting to purchase this camera for a while and I'm glad I did. I love the size and the flip up screen is great and convenient. Image quality and video quality is very good. I would definitely recommend this camera!!

This camera is answer my needs. Straight away i really amaze ...wonderfull and great picture results compare wth the rest of many brands and compare wth the price. This is really beyond expectation. Worth to buy and have it.

The camera I s great for vlogging. The flip screen is perfect for vlogging. The still photo setting has a 2 and 10 second delay. It cannot be removed. If you wanted to do more than vlogging I suggest a600 or a6300.

LOVE IT
First camera. Have had many since. I have enjoyed none of them as much as the a5100. Small, light, no viewfinder, nice screen, good audio, nice picture and more. Im still waiting for a comparable upgrade in 2019.

My favorite On-The-Go Camera
I love this camera, the quality is amazing! I like the auto focus and the vibrancy of the pictures. This camera is the perfect thing for taking pictures on the go and even for vlogging.

Unbelievable camera
I've had many SLRS over the years 20 years and counting this one takes the cake and then there's the video quality that new format that Sony uses looks like 4K video quality to me

Dont count as a pro camera for videos-too much overheating
I bought it for use with the gimbal Zhiyun Crane, because of the video in 1080 60p. But always when I'm using at work, it superheats. Unfortunately I'll have to buy another model.

Small and handy
I have not tried the video portion, but the point and click picture quality is outstanding. The low light feature is also a very handy tool and it wasnt even my present! LOL

Cool Travel Camera
I bought this camera for my wife. I usually use Nikon with big lenses, but I tried this Sony a5100 , a very cool camera especially on travels. Now only with Sony I travel.

A great buy for a great camera
I have the a6000 and wanted a similar model with slightly different features for indoor group pics. The a5100 fits the bill. I can dedicate the a6000 to landscape work.

Very good sensor in a small package
I use the camera for aerial photography from a drone. The image quality is excellent, and is particularly good for the relatively small size and weight of the camera.
