Great idea... Falls short expectations
Thought this would be a great diving in point for integrating the power of iOS in guitar playing. Built well and the app (AmpliTude) is very cool. But...big insertion loss! If you had thoughts of running the bypass as your clean channel and thein as your FX channel, it ain't gonna happen. It's, uh, OK I guess?
The product is well made and the apps are cool. I own MANY IK products, but... If you want to use the iRig as the FX channel and Bypass to use your amp's clean tone, there is a very big insertion loss. IK Multimedia was great about getting back to me and I tried all of their suggestions, but to no avail. However you try to make up the gain, it results in unwanted distortion. Great Idea..... but needs work
I use the pedal for live performances as a bass player. I love the fact that you can tap your Itunes music during a break and go right to a playlist. As far as being useful as a bass effects pedal, its very noisy and emmit a constant hiss. Use the noise filter and you get no tone from you bass. I think it is more of an issue with the cable more so than the pedal itself. I get a lot of pops and cracks when the cable is disturbed even the smallest bit.
