Music to my ears!

I use them to practice guitar with my sound equipment. I like it loud and the neighbors don't.. They sound as good as my amps and can handle the distortion as well as the clean. Clean clear highs, mids, lows, and sound good just listening to music. Built good, adjustable at all angles, light and very comfortable. Nice isolation from any outside noise. They are a good set of headphones with a nice carrying bag. I would buy them again.
Quality Headphones, Priced Appropriately

Build Quality: I haven't gotten to use any of the AT headphones available at lower price points than these, so I'm not speaking from experience here, but I've heard that the cheaper models are lacking in build quality. That's why I went with these, and I have to say, I'm not disappointed. The build quality is about the best you can expect from this price range. The band seems to be really durable, and the casing of the headphones is made of an extremely lightweight, but seemingly quite rigid plastic. The reduced weight helps keep neck strain down from extended wear, and I can't imagine these cracking or even scuffing in any significant way from a light drop. Comfort: The cushions leave a little to be desired; they're not super shallow, but my ears still touch the back lining of the cups. They're soft enough, and they feel sturdy enough that they're not going to get weak or brittle without quite a bit of wear. I personally wouldn't be able to go more than 2-3 hours of wear without taking a break from the, but realistically we should all be taking breaks every few hours anyhow. They still feels appropriate for a product at this price range, and it's worth noting that I've seen others who found aftermarket cups to fit these headphones, so that would always be an option down the road. If you desperately need headphones that you can wear for 8+ hours or more, I think you're gonna need to look at a higher price point, or look at some replacement cups. Sound Quality: Overall, sound on these is awesome. I do notice a very subtle "airy" quality in the treble frequencies that I don't remember getting in any of my other headphones. It's hardly noticeable, but can be a little distracting. I notice it most in raw vocal recordings; I've listed this as a con, but honestly, it could be a pro to some. If you're an engineer, be it recording, mixing, or mastering, noticing those extra frequencies in a raw vocal may help you with more precise vocal processing or room treatment. ... More

I actually like this better than the ATH-M50X, the M30x is better suited for my need, which is vocal recording monitor. With this, I can hear my voice clearly, the bass is not overwhelming, trebles is clear and not overly harsh. I would say the M30x is the equivalence of having a pair of JBL LSR305 for your ears, it is that wonderful. I ended up selling the ATH-M50x and got another pair of M30x when it was on sale, I don't regret my decision. Here is the problem with the M50x, it is expensive, it is bassy, mid range feels more recessed, it is heavier than the M30x, so with longer listening session the M30x is more suited. I would suggest buying the ATH-M30x for monitor use, and get a set of Shure se215 for your portable music nirvana. ... More

I'm very pleased. I produce local TV commercials, so having monitor headphones is very important to get the sound perfect. These have performed very well. Actually they are truly great! If you want them for music, you will also be pleased. They are comfortable too and you can't beat the price for professional headphones like this.

I've been a pro live engineer for 35 years. I've owned multiples of the Sony V6's ,7506's, V900s, Sennheiser HD280's, Shure SR440's and have tried countless others. Currently use ATH-M50x but am also going to buy the M70x. However, I previewed these M30x's in a store was immediately impressed by the intelligible but well balanced presentation. Bought a pair on the spot. They don't have the low end oomph of the 50x's which I still use for gigs, but I love them for getting detail out of things and they're excellent for watching movies and casual lower volume listening. One star off as they don't have a coiled cord and the left channel had just perceptibly less presence than the left which hopefully was only that particular pair. I recently bought a Cowon M2 player and I use the Audio Technica headphones in conjunction with this player. I am not an audiophile and in fact my hearing was somewhat damaged by a stroke I had a few years ago. Still the combination of the headphones and the player has given me a fresh appreciation of the music I listened to before I had the stroke. In many cases it is as if I am hearing the music for the first time. I am surprised and pleased.

I've been doing audio and video producing for a little under two years now, and I started with basic level headphones for both. That converted me to using the beats by dre, however with the cost and the slight lack of midrange provided by beats, I began looking for new products. I wanted some studio-quality headphones to practice guitar for late-night playing while the kiddos slept. These work great—I picked these over other similarly-priced headphones due to mainly comfort, as they sounded fairly similar to other brands. I wear glasses at times, so the pressing of the ear pads can cause discomfort, but these are perfect. The audio is clear and not overly bassy, and the chord is nice and long—another issue I was trying to resolve! Great product for the price overall.

I use the m30x's for listening to music, playing guitar and watching youtube videos. I think the m30x's are a great headphone. They sound crystal clear and have great bass mids and highs. I also own the m40x's and have to say the m30x's are more comfortable and sound just as good as the m40x's. The m30x's seem to have a little more mids where the m40x's are a little flatter more natural sound. The only downside for me but maybe not everyone is the m30x's have a permanently attached cable where the m40x's have a detachable replaceable cable. Headphones sound great. They fit my ears perfectly. They fold up nicely and come with storage bag. Cord could be longer but an extension fixes that. They do get hot on your ears next time i will buy ventilated or open back headphones.

Got these for my home recording studio. Good for budget studio work. They're doing what I need them to do. Good clean sound. I have them hooked up to my ZoomR16 multi track recorder. My vocals and acoustic guitar come through just fine with these headphones. Could be a little flatter though. Just a little too much low end. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 pros that were similarly priced which I also got from Guitar Center. They sound better for picking up each instruments tones and are very clean and crisp for the price. Very even tones across the board. I chose to get these Audio Technica headphones because they had a straight cord as apposed to a coiled one. Makes it much easier to play guitar with them on. I have monitors but like to use the headphones when I need to keep things quiet. Not disappointed in these Audio-Technicas at all. Good value! I use the Sennheisers for final mix on my computer. ... Lightweight, Comfortable Monitors!

These headphones are light, the ear pads are super soft and comfortable, and the sound quality is excellent for the price. I use these for field video shoots, and while the isolation isn't amazing, it gets the job done and the audio is clear and accurate. And with these being well below $, I can beat them up a bit and not stress about them. They fold up neatly and the included carrying bag is a great addition. Highly recommended.

Home studio, just love to screw around with music and have fun creating. Use for monitoring vocals, acoustic guitar, conga, etc.. Closed design isolates playback pretty well depending on the sensitivity of your mic. IMO decent throughout entire audio range, I hear everything. I forget I have them on. Nice long, straight cord for studio, gold plated 1/4 phono adapter supplied, and a little carry bag. Earpieces flip up so the hole set is just about a semi circle when not in use.

I'm truly surprised at how great the ATH-M30x headphones sound. I felt I was making a good purchase, as I have other Audio Technica devices and have been happy with the quality. When purchasing the ATH-M30x, I knew there were higher end models, but they just weren't in my budget at the time. I have no regrets with this purchase. They sound like high-end headphones, they are comfortable and the build quality seems very good.

I bought these headphones primarily as an upgrade to replace my old pair. As a video editor, I needed something with much more clarity, in order to get the best results out of my recorded audio. The ATH-M30x headphones are some of the best I've come across. They deliver clean, isolated audio, without sacrificing comfort or price.

Audi quality is superb for the asking price. I primarily use this headphones for fieldwork as well as editing. After 12+ hours of continued use, they remain comfortable, and my ears never felt sore. A good investment for sound engineers on a budget.

Nowhere in the description did it say these were only for small eared people. I compared them with another audio tech headphones I have and these earpieces are much smaller. Stay away unless your ears are small or else they will hurt to wear

Just bought these for my home studio, and I'm kind of blown away at how good they sound for the price..or any price. I sort of consider myself an audiophile, and I'm just thoroughly impressed. These sound great plugged into my iPhone as well. Buy them. Great separation and soundstage. Flat response. This is the first review I've ever felt compelled to write.

This is one of those items that just work immediately with how you do right out of the box. I felt myself not having to adjust to any quirks in function. The cord is long, but what I do is coil part of it closer to the 3/8 jack, secure it with a velcro cord management strip, and it behaves nicely around your camera. It sounds great when listening to music, but it was a great monitor headset on my last shoot- I could hear A/C and other room noise clear as day and was able to reduce those before taping. These headphones are superb for the price! I love how flat their profile is! listening to movies, T.V. shows, and youtube videos with these sound amazing. Once when I was watching a movie a door opened in the movie and I took my headphones off because I thought someone had come into the room, they sound that good!
