I don't consider myself a audiophile. But when I replaced my HTC 10 with a Pixel 2, it was clear I wasn't getting the same quality or loudness using the little DAC that comes with the Pixel into my 58-ohm Senal SMH-1000s. It Does Little if Any
I purchased a Fiio K1 DAC based on a recommendation by Steve Guttenberg on CNet. When I first used it, I felt that it made music with more body. Without the DAC, music from my computer: MacBook Pro for work and Dell for home, was quite thin. After one month usage, I, however, can't tell much difference with or without it. Incredible
Hard to believe such a small device can have such a dramatic effect! I use this at my computer to listen to my iTunes, with Sony MDR-7506 phones. Incredible sound. I cannot tell the difference between this and my other DAC's; I suppose lab equipment could. Only caveat is that it (apparently) changes a few settings on my computer. Nothing major, and I can't say for sure, but it seems likely that the software that downloads automatically when you plug in this guy makes a few minor changes in the settings. But for forty bucks this thing is a steal.

Great if you know what your getting
First off its important to understand how to change the quality of the sound in your Mac and Windows. When you hook it up it will default to not the best settings this unit is capable of producing. That said, sound is a lot more balanced, pleasant then what my card on Mac mini or my macbook pro produces but it's not a huge upgrade. However when connected to my surface 3, it makes tons of difference. Either way it was worth it to me and I am very happy.

Terrific Little DAC / Headphone Amp
Awesome and inexpensive device for its intended design. I purchased it on the advice of an in-house audio writer and, as he told me, it has really cleaned up and focused the audio signal from my iMac. It sounds equally great through headphones and the Klipsch 2.1 speaker system connected to the computer. The before-and-after difference in sound quality is palpable.

Nice little work DAC or for on the go
Inexpensive, cleans up the audio significantly at work. Finally my ears can rest all those hours at the ax. Just a reminder, this little unit will only amplify slightly and does not have a volume dial on the device. Recommended for those that can and want to have clear audio when not at home enjoying their stacks.

Can't ask for more.
For its price you are not gonna find any better. A solid pick for entry-level of hifi audio world. Anyone should upgrade their low-quality integrated audio source right now.
