Very effective at noise control
I wanted these to use in a motorcyle helmet with an intercom and with my phone. Because of how small they are, that they go directly into ear canal, and the fact that if you use the foam tips they fit very snug, it really isolates a lot of sound. These work better than a custom fit earpieces that I had made for my ears. They also do not get shoved into my ears further with my helmet.

Clear but thin
Mk5 have very clear sound, fit well but have very little base tones making the sound seem a little thin.

Fantastic!
I purchased the mk5 earphones to wear while riding my motorcycle. They fit in the helmet fine as long as the helmet has speaker cavities built into it. The mk5's bring rich sounding audio and fantastic noise isolation. The fit of the silicone tips in my ears is perfect and more effective than most of the foam earplugs I have used for reduction of high speed wind noise. Very Specialized Ear Buds
I purchased these earbuds to wear under my motorcycle helmet and they work great. The variety of ear pieces makes a good fit certain. These earbuds are very specialized. The frequency response of these buds is tailored to speech. If you play music through them, you may be disappointed by the lack of bass response. I was unable on my Sansa Fuze MP3 player to find a custom balance setting that sufficiently improved the sound when playing music. But the clarity of speech is excellent.

Excellent Product, this is my third pair.
This is my third pair, too, too rough with the first, lost the second. Didn't hesitate to purchase my third Etymotic Isolator earphones. Comfortable ear seal and sound, great for airplane, can't say enough.

Disappointed
I've owned two other (more expensive) pairs of Etymotics and have liked them. This pair fits nicely but doesn't sound very good. The high frequencies are really rough, even after 20 hours of playing. Bass is light weight as expected but combined with the strange high frequencies these headphones are hard to listen to for any length of time.
