I bought mine more than 15 years ago from B&H and they are still going strong. Super-small, super-lightweight, terrific and accurate sound quality. Anyone who finds the sound lacking is not putting them far enough into their ears. Reach around the back of your head with your other hand to pull back on your ear while you insert the Etymotic deep into your ear canal, then do the same on the other side. Great Headphones
These sound fantastic, they have very strong high mid response that can accentuate vocals in a useful way, but makes some recordings a little strident. Physically they fell a bit fragile, with very small, non replaceable cable, for the drivers. It's been fine though. The assortment of tips they come with offered enough options to make them fit well in my very large ear canals.

more is more when relying on reviews
primarily for IEM with band, ipod sometimes , checked headfi and lots of reviews in advance. on first use not a positive feeling , holllow and not in line with expectations.however change from default silicon sleeve to foam ( all supplied) and things greatly improve.i think they would benifit from portable amp for ipod and custom ear seats ( not inc) , very uncoloured , nothing added to make it sound better but neutral is what im after as the artist intended and not as the EQ department imagine.

For the price not good. Very clear and the noise attenuation is great. Good phones but not the best in this category.

Best noise suppression of any headphone
As a professional Sound Mixer for Films I own and use a wide variety of headphones for critical monitoring. My large, over ear style phones are extremely comfortable and convenient for all day use but lack decent noise suppression. The ER 4S phones offer me amazing isolation from outside noise with very decent sound quality.
