12mm-24mm
Great lens minimal vignetting, tries the 16mm -35mm like this 12mm -24mm better. Great, great lens. B&H best place to purchase. Longtime customer from the 70s. Use to walk in and dream about all their cameras then bought the first one April 1980. Keep up the great work. Shalom

Im impressed.
This is an excellent lens for architecture and landscape photography. Im blown away by how well the distortion is controlled even at 12mm. The 12-24 is sharp through out the range and holds its own against the 16-35 GM. I most appreciate the size and weight of this lens. I own the holy trinity in G Master lenses (16-35, 24-70, 70-200), but when shooting landscapes, travel or just out adventuring Ive been carrying the 12-24G and the 24-105G. I com... Show More

Using this lens with Sony Digital Filer
Before buying this lens, I read some reviews which complained about the difficulties to fit this lens with filers. I decided to see if I can use the Sony digital filer application with this lens. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. Now I dons have to buy an expensive filer system and carry it around with me on the trips. This is a great lens, if you use it carefully. I dont think it has too much of distortion. It is very sharp ... Show More

Nice superwide
I really dont have anything bad to say about this lens other than the trade in value is about 25% of retail. Had I seen that when I was looking at the lens, I probably would not purchased. That said, the results from this lens are great. Its fast and accurate focusing. images are sharp. Probably will be great for landscapes and night sky images. The build quality is good. If you are looking for a super wide lens, this one works well. Other than the abysmal trade in value, The lens is a recommend.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!
Excellent sharpness even wide open, especially between 12mm and 14mm. I must say if this lens took filters, it would be the Ultimate landscape lens. Still, I give it 5 stars. Brilliant.

Lots of Distortion
There is a great deal of distortion around the edges wide open. People look like flat cardboard figures. Still going to use until I find a better option at this price range or less.

Sharp
I have not seen the vignetting that others have reported... The focus has been accurate and fast... Mounted on an a7rii, this lens is a joy to work with... These images have been cropped and minimally processed in PSE 2018

Best single wide lens for Sony FS7
I bought this lens after trying many wide lenses for my Sony FS7 including other non Sony glass, this lens is so sharp and so forgiving if you dont have the focus spot on that I believe it has to be the best wide you can put on your Sony FS7. You can leave it on auto focus and its brilliant or just follow your depth of field on screen and your scene will always be correctly focused. I have used it now for architecture, landscape and traveling TV ... Show More

Handy wide angle
Been using this primarily for landscapes and exterior shots for work. Does quite nicely with minimal distortion even when shooting at 12 mm

A very special purpose
Having never used anything less than a 24mm wide angle (full frame), I was curious about the effect that a 12mm would give. I was expecting tons of distortion and the like. This lens while creating some distortion is no where near what I had assumed. It renders a scene true to form and for me is best used in landscapes. I live in NM where we have big skies, clouds and mountains. The vignetting on the corners is next to nil. In fact, I did not really notice any. I bought this lens for a trip to the Tour de France in July and am looking forward to some dramatic shots in the Pyrenees.

Switched from the 16-35 F4 and imhappy with it
I really liked my 16-35, but I felt like I just needed to get a little more wide. I always edit in LR so I was able to fix some of the distortion but I shoot a lot of first-person stuff and this basically turns my A7RII into the worlds best gopro. I dont like that you cant put a traditional filter on it, but most of the time that's not an issue and ill live with it. Overall im very happy with it, it doesnt shift weight a lot so great on gimbal and its very light.

Really Wide
I have not seen the vignetting issues reported by other reviewers. The lens is sharp and very fast to focus. Recommended.

Sending it to Sony for repair/replacement
Great lens except that it won't focus. Snaps into "focus" quickly, but the image is soft across the range of apertures.

Amazing Lens
I came from Nikon where one of my go to lenses was the 14-24 and have been missing it enormously when I switched to the Sony system. Now all is well and even much better because of the 12-24. This lens is amazing . I recommend to all.

Very compact and very sharp ultra-wide zoom
The FE 12-24mm f/4 G replaced my beloved EF 14mm f/2.8L II. I started my move from Canon to Sony in August 2017. Even though my 14mm functioned very well on my Sony bodies, the adapter that I used didn't allow eye-detection and a few other focus modes that the G and GM Sony lenses can provide. I had tried out an EF 11-24mm f/4L, but went with the 14mm, because the zoom was incredibly bulky. One of my rules is, "if I can't carry it, I'm not buyin... Show More

Great Lens but overpriced
The pictures are looking good from what little that I used it so far , but I do like the 12-24mm range and the lens appear to be good quality .

Great for real estate / architecture!
Let me first get out of the way my only complaint: light flares.... Closer to my 10-18 Sony than my Zeiss Loxia 21. If this lens handled light flares like my Loxia, it would be a 5+ star lens. That aside this lens is in every way a huge upgrade over my Sony 10-18 f4. I've used that lens for my wide angle real estate work and it's done fine, but I wasn't truly happy. This lens is a huge step up. In fact, I probably won't take it off my A6300 at ... Show More

Great Lens!!!!
I use to work with Sigma 12-24 on A mount and it was a great experience, When I switch to E mount I bought the converters from A to E mount. The Sigma keep doing a great job on my A7RII but Sony decide to launch the 12-24 native e mount and I just have to have it.... With both in my hand I took several pictures to compare. Sigma always was a great and sharp wide angle for Sony A mount, I use to love that lens, but this one is more sharp, is bette... Show More

Best wide angel lens!
After reading many review on this lens I decided it was time to upgrade. While the 16-35 f/4 is great, the extra 4mm that this lens gives makes a world of difference. It's super sharp and I seeing this lens being my go to 99% of the time.

Useful as part of toolkit
I found that I was able to take new photographs from new perspectives with this lens. I normally travel with the F4 24-70, and F4 70-200, so this lens added focal lengths and perspectives that I wasn't able to access before. Great for architecture, and on a recent trip to New York, I was able to get all of buildings in, without having to tilt the camera upwards, which would cause converting Lines issues with a focal length of say 24mm

Impressive!
After hearing a lot of good things, I decided to give this lens a try and ordered it last week. I've tested it against several other lenses; short answer is that it's as good or better than any of them, including the 12mm setting. I'm very impressed. It replaces two other lenses - good in their own right - but it's a little better on the ends and corners, it has considerably reduced vignetting compared to the others, and it has virtually no CA. I love this lens!
I've been a fan of wide angle lenses for years, ever since 40 years ago, I put a cheap 21mm on a Pentax. I shot film for years and loved the Rodenstock 35mm and 45mm Grandagons for 6x9cm format. This lens is just as good. Some reviewers have complained about flare but it's to be expected with the front element curvature required for short focal lengths. I also own a 10mm Voigtlander but the Sony 12-24mm is on my camera most of the time. I tried to put up a couple of photos but the upload timed out three times.
