Great Pocket Camera
A very small, handy, and effective camera for walk-around use. Im a pro and sometimes dont want to lug gear around, like riding the bike on the trail or woods walking, so this was the answer with a RAW format output and file size. Operation is easy, the Zeiss lens is quality, and its easy to stow. I like having this along every day for when the moment strikes for spontaneous shooting. Highly recommended.

So far, so good...
This is my first Sony camera, and I purchased it specifically to serve as a quality travel camera and I chose it after some hands-on research. My Canon G12 was stolen on my last day of a trip to Stockholm, and I found its rugged but portable versatility hard to replace. The R100 VI so far fills the bill, as the RAW images have been easy to convert to DNG in Lightroom (I'm mainly a Pentax user), the images are wonderfully sharp, and the battery li... Show More

A better case
I would have added this to my previous review where I commented on the excessive size of the case included with this kit, but I can't edit it. I've found a case that fits like a glove!: The Lowepro Adventura CS 10. This is a soft case, but fits the RX1006 perfectly.

So Far, So Good
I recently purchased this camera, have not used it much yet, but did attend an event where I was taking photos for the organizers. I left my full frame Nikon DSLR at home this time, used only the RX100 VI, and am totally satisfied with the images I made with it. Having the 200 mm zoom meant I could get good closeups of speakers without being intrusive. I also have the RX100 III, but it has become "glitchy" after 4 years. Sometimes it no longer zo... Best carry camera
Excellent quality, great chip - as long as there's enough light. Controls are limited, but due to the size of the camera it's understandable. Overall, I can now carry around a decent quality camera. Make it a full-sized chip and I'll make it 5 stars. Or more.

Best Travel Camera ever!
Excellent photos, focus and tracking, and 24 frames per second for stopping the action. A little pricy. However, no one else makes anything like this for any amount of money. I highly recommend.

What's missing!
The Sony DSC-RX100 VI is incredibly complex and comes with virtually no written help for understanding how to harness it's amazing capabilities. Fortunately. help is available from White Knight Press. I have no doubt that this is the best pocketable travel camera ever made if image quality is a main consideration. The principal issue aside from the lack of documentation is holding on to it because of it's small size.If you get one, be sure to use the wrist strap. A drop would be expensive.

Great small camera
I normally shoot with Sony a7RII and their f4 lens and find their quality to be outstanding. I wanted a small pocket camera for my wife when we travel. I first rented the RX100V6 and then purchased it. My main reason for purchase was small size and image quality. Small size: It is about the size of a cigarette pack. Easy to fit into a pocket, purse and etc. In this regard, it is perfect. Image quality. While it is not as good as my a7RI... Show More

Very versatile and wonderful portability
I bought this to replace my DSLR which had just got too heavy and awkward when I am hiking with the dog and trying to handle his leash, my hiking stick and all our "accessories". I shoot mainly landscapes and the zoom lens is a very strong performer. I'm very happy with my choice - this camera really does fit in a pocket unlike the mirrorless and micro 4/3 models I considered. There are compromises. To use a filter you need to add a third party m... Show More

A fantastic pocket camera!
Thiis is by far the best and most versatile pocket camera I have owned. Tack sharp, with a terrific focusing system for action photos. There are numerous mode options. I think I will generally end up using Manual mode with my preferred shutter speed and aperture. In Manual mode when ISO is set to Auto it will adjust the ISO to get proper exposure. Also, you can still use exposure compensation. I have been using an Olympus Pen F with the 12-4... Show More

APS-C, Point and shoot, or it's in the middle on its own?
Beginner, Enthusiast, Semi-Pro, Pro, I guess it depends on what kind of photography you do. For me I've been in photography for 26 years, except the last 5 years as I sold my DSLR setup from a back injury. The weight of the glass, body and type of wilderness photography I used to love with hiking was not longer possible and I had to accept this 6 years ago and sold my gear instead of it collecting dust. I've tried APS-C cameras, but still neede... Show More

Powerful Pocket Camera - Very Sharp and Pleasant Pictures
Based on one week's experience, I am very satisfied with the camera. I use it mostly with the Sony GP-VPT1 Shooting Grip, which allows for easy holding of the camera, e.g. for overhead shots and for selfies. Even in camera Auto mode, pictures look very good in most situations, as the camera intelligently evaluates the photo environment and switches to the optimal settings. The mode selection wheel allows to easily set to Program, Aperture, Shutte... Show More

No regrets
If your reading these reviews it means your probably wanting to buy this camera, but are hoping for a few bad reviews to dissuade you from spending the $1,200. I get it, I did the same. But this camera though expensive can nearly do it all. I've been using for travel and have not missed a shot. Not cumbersome. Easy to pack and go. Great video, zoom is great, and the menu is not as bad as other would have you believe. The touch focus is a nice tou... Show More

Love love the camera, but...
First the good news. I love the feel of the camera and the straighrforward way it operates. I find it very logocal and I'm a Nikon guy. I heard so many bad things about the menue but found it easy to learn and navigate. I traded up from the Lumix ZS100, which in comparison has a far more convuluted system of controls. Tha RX100 vi feels much more substantial in my hands as well. The touch focus and expose on the Sony is so far superior to the Lum... Show More

Sony continues to improve its mirrorless cameras
I just upgraded from an RX100 V to an RX100 VI because of the focal length of the new zoom lens that goes from 24 - 200 mm. It was well worth it. I find the addition of the new zoom lens a real asset. This camera is so convenient and fits in your pocket when you are not shooting. It is unobtrusive and turns out fabulous pictures. I am anxious for Adobe to come out with a new RAW conversion so that I can import RAW files into Lightroom and Photoshop.

Excellent small camera
This is my second RX100. The M6 has the extended zoom range and an easier electronic pop-up viewfinder. The image quality is more than adequate.

I should give 5 stars!
I took out 1 star for one reason: no RAW reading from LR and CC (but don't worry they say they will update every 3 months, for now just use from Sony, they do have). I am the Sony lover. I use RX100 from mark 3, then 4, then mark 5 until last month and now this "new toy" mark 6. I just love them all. After reading so many complaints from this mark 6, I thought it would be a disaster to have it, but...turn out it is nothing. Yes, I agree I d... Show More

very good but not perfect
GOOD THINGS: 1) very good image quality from such a compact camera; 2) very useful zoom range; 3) majority of controls and settings are straightforward and intuitive; 4) really excellent viewfinder for such a compact camera; 5) tilt screen is very useful; 6) ergonomics are generally excellent. NOT SO GOOD: 1) close-focus distance is a severe letdown; 2) flash is cut-off at close focus distance; 3) the individual eye adjustment of the p... Show More

Great Quality in a Small Package
I owned the RX100 III and was pleased with the quality of the images it took, but I found myself leaving it at home because of the limited 24-70 zoom range. I bought this RX100 VI the first day it was available and am very glad I did. The same quality but a lot more versatile with the longer 24-200 zoom range. I'm a serious photo enthusiast who competes in photo competitions and my main camera equipment is a top of the line Canon DSLR and a varie... Show More

This is an update to my 8/6/2018 review titled "minor, albeit aggravating, issue". See below. Okay, B&H replaced the first camera. The new copy arrived today with the same diopter adjustment problem. I called B&H Customer Service and they had no ready solution. I could return the camera and try again or call Sony for repair. Not really what I wanted to hear. Cannot process in Lightroom or Photoshop
For all the hype and all the cost the RAW files cannot be processed in Lightroom or Photoshop. No update nor does the Adobe conversion program adopt the file. I have been stuck with a Sony processing program that is just ok. If this changes I may increase my rating.
