So far so good

May 8, 2017

So far so good. Am enjoying having everything in one camera including video. The camera itself is heavier than my Nikon DSLR I replaced it with - but certainly worth the trade off considering my camera bag doesn't have to carry a bunch of heavy lenses around.

I will use this cam till Canon upgrades HF-G40 to 4K

May 3, 2017

Some Great Features: 4k video is stunning on my 60 Sony 4K TV! Stunning when everything is right. The 240 fps vids are wonderful, fun, sharp. The 20x lens is superb! The 480 fps vids are pretty good. Now the Bad: The 960 fps vids are a joke: Totally unusable. The focus is a disaster. Extremely difficult to work with. I have ruined numerous shots because it will not focus in time (I am a bird videographer) and then the focus ring is not mechanical... Show More

Great Way to Get a 600mm Lens with a Camera Thrown In

Apr 28, 2017

I had been waiting for months for Tamron to finally come out with its 150-600mm lens for my SonyA7Rii when I came across this camera with a built in Zeiss 24-600mm built-in lens. It was almost the same price as the Tamron lens without a camera and weighed a lot less than the SonyA7Rii with the Tamron. So I decided to try it out. What a delightful surprise. The RX isn't perfect. Complicated menu (I bought a book on it to help with that) and its fo... Show More

Great camera

Apr 4, 2017

Camera takes great images. A bit of a learning curve due to the disorganized menu system. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase

yes the camera is great and found no problems.

Now about the manual. It is absolutely terrible. there is no explanation of what does what and some information is actuarially missing. Get a look at what Nikon puts out and compare it with what Sony does. And to top it off it is printed on Toilet paper. When a person spends 1500.00 for a camera a better manual should be included.

Correction to my Previous Review.

Feb 23, 2017

I recommended a manual for the DSC-RX10 lll and gave the wrong name for it's author. Alexander S. White has written the best manual I've ever seen for any camera. Its title is Photographer's Guide to the Sony DSC-RX10 lll. This camera performs beautifully at its default settings, but has so much more to offer that I needed a guide to access and program its many features for my kind of photography.

I absolutely love this camera!

Feb 22, 2017

I am a serious photographer - I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography with a degree in professional photography. My usual carry-around rig as a nature photographer is a Canon 7D Mark II with a Canon 100-400 mm L lens (first generation). I love the setup. When I am traveling light, my camera of choice is a Panasonic DMC ZS40 which has given me award winning shots in a very small package. I was looking for something in between - an... Show More

Feb 22, 2017

My first RX10 lll was defective. B&H replaced it in 6 days. This is a pretty amazing camera It produces beautiful pictures right out of the box at its default settings. However the Sony engineers have provided six programmable buttons that can control 34 settings. WOW! It takes some time to sort through them and make your choices. The downloaded manual is limited. Buy Clarence White's manual. It is well written, complete with illustrations and an... Show More

Great camera

Feb 21, 2017

The reviews are all good, some say it's the best bridge camera on the market. I'm using it since a month now and I can say it's a really good camera. Perfect for wildlife photography, the 600mm+ lense is sharp and effective. It's really cool to bring only a camera, no lenses and no lense changes. With 24-600mm you cover almost everything. The video capabilities of this camera is stunning, high quality 4K video and even ultra slow-motion at 920 fr... Show More

I will always have an RX10

Feb 8, 2017

I love it. This is my second RX10. I ruined my old RX10 by getting moisture in the lens and mildew eventually spread. I will be more careful with this one. This RX10 III is a serious upgrade. We are going on a cruise around the tip of South America and this is the perfect camera for light travel. The 600x zoom lens doesn't seem to stop. I'm presently using it to shoot video in our church of the services. From the back of the sanctuary I can tell ... Show More

Almost Perfect

Feb 7, 2017

I love this camera despite a few drawbacks. This is the most versatile camera I have ever owned. One lens does it all, and very well. I like to do urban street photography, and this lens puts me anywhere I want to be with stunning results at all focal lengths, and in all lighting conditions. While I am a serious hobbyist, I am not a pro. I have replaced my full-frame camera and all it's lenses with this one, relatively light camera. The only reas... Show More

Lots of digital capability in a single package.

Feb 1, 2017

I purchased this camera to upgrade my digital photography from much simpler point and shoot cameras and to combine with an upgraded capability for videography. This is a very sophisticated and capable camera system and with an awesomely capable lens. As an amateur user, it will take me a while to fully utilize this camera's features. I love not having to carry around several cameras and a bunch of lenses.

I really like this camera, especially the lens.

Jan 31, 2017

Its not perfect but its pretty close. In this case I would love to have dedicated dials on the body for adjusting aperture, shutterspeed and iso while in the manual setting. That said I realize it has programmable buttons which will likely do the trick. Rolling shutter is a downer when taking photos while flying down the road. I really like the apps you can download to the camera. And I love the wifi nfc features for remote control with my phone. Also digging the easy wireless downloads to my laptop and phone.

Great potential

Jan 24, 2017

I bought this camera in hopes that the design will evolve. The lens is quite sharp, especially given its range. I also own an A7Rii which is a more specialized camera while the RX10III is my go to camera for every day use. Both cameras use the same battery and many controls are the same. Unfortunately, the focus on the RX10III is too slow and often hunts, especially on longer shots. Then again, I am hoping the next iteration of the design will include improvements in this vein. Meanwhile, I will try to be patient and enjoy the camera's many qualities. Sony, are you listening?

DSLR functioncapabilities in a light-weight package

Jan 19, 2017

My primary shooting cameras are the Canon 5D IV and the Canon 7D MII with a wide assortment of lenses depending on my subject. I purchased the Sony RX 10 III for use as a dedicated travel camera to dispense with multiple gear bags and the associated walk around weight of tripods and multiple lenses. I have been testing the Sony in several scenarios and it has not disappointed in either distance reach, focus ability or quality of image. The bigges... Show More

Terrifiec Bridge Camera

Jan 18, 2017

I had been looking for a bridge camera for travel somewhere between my DSLR + lenses and my point and shoot camera that would not take much room. The RX10 M3 is the perfect camera. I'm still learning all the features but so far I am very, very impressed with its abilities. Love the 24-600 lens and all the other stellar functionality of this camera. Not quite all the features of my Nikon D7000 but pretty close. The RX10 M3 is my new go-to camera.

Jan 16, 2017

I've had the camera for only a short time and had it out to photograph only once. I'm still learning how to get the best images from this camera but I am already impressed with what it can do. The most striking quality for my use is the lens, that will zoom from wide to 600 mm and is pretty sharp. That is the reason I bought the camera. A good travel camera if willing to pay for the quality

Jan 14, 2017

I bought the camera looking for a smaller, lighter camera for birding and wildlife travel. I found that carrying a Canon 7d Mark II (with 2 lens including a zoom) all day while hiking was not practical (too heavy and too much risk of getting banged up due to size with zoom). I have been learning about and experimenting with the camera in preparation for a trip in March. There is a steep learning curve and the guides could be better. However, ther... Show More
