Very happy with this camera

May 17, 2016

I am having a lot of fun with this camera. I would say the hardest part is remembering all that it is actually capable of, and then finding it when you need it. This is a good problem to have because while I am capable of taking pictures in the normal ways, the different options can expand my creativity and give me a reason to play with the camera even when I am not taking pictures. I was excited about the super slow-mo, but underestimated the pr... Show More

This is a great camera.

Dec 20, 2016

This is an awesome camera. The lens is tack sharp at all zoom ranges. 149 menu options give you lots of control of every parameter on the camera. While pretty hefty for a bridge camera, it feels very solid and comfortable to use. Allegations of slow focusing are unfounded. I have not had any focus speed issues at all. It may hunt at full zoom on poorly lit low contrast objects, but that is not unusual and common among other cameras in that situat... Show More

BIGGER AND BETTER THAN BEFORE

Jun 21, 2016

I have been a devoted fan of the RX10 since it first came on the market. It was a convenient travel camera where size and weight were a factor. It was capable of excellent results with stills as well as videos (especially videos). This latest version is more than just an incremental improvement in the camera. It isn't so much evolutionary as it is revolutionary. It is fundamentally a different camera. It's larger and heavier and it posses capabil... Show More

Not worth it!

May 17, 2016

The quality just isn't there...from the battery door which has no spring to close it to the lack of intuative controls. I had it for 3 days, then returned it. It is heavier than it should be and the 24-600mm lense is a farce! Admittedly, I am a long time Canon shooter, but the ads (especially the video from Sony) were misleading at best. I have a full line of Canon DSLRs and lenses, as well as three pick up & go Canon Cameras and I will tell you ... Show More

Excellent Travel Camera

Jun 2, 2016

Just used the Sony RX10 III in Morocco for 24 days and loved it! The lens does everything you need--close up and far away--on a trip. Great in low light and focuses quickly. Can easily be used in Auto mode like a click and shoot camera...or you can do everything manually. The electronic view finder works great. Really liked having the level as well as focus marks. Comfortable grip. I made the neck strap as long as it would go so when sitting on t... Show More

Contacted Sony to see why the AF illuminator on the hot shoe flash was not working. Come to find out, none of the hot shoe flashes produced by Sony that have AF illuminator lights will function with this camera, even though the flashes are equipped with an AF illuminator light. Had I known this, I would not have purchased the camera. The AF illuminator on the camera itself is halfway blocked by the camera lens when shooting in low light situati... Show More

Great Overall Camera

Dec 16, 2016

I do a lot of street photography and the range of this zoom from 24-600mm and the compact size of the camera is ideal. I also have photographer friends who do a lot of international travel, and they love this camera since, in addition to its relative light weight, take this along rather than their SLR and an array of lenses. I find the built-in flash to be surprisingly adequate. I do, however always use a Puffer. I am very satisfied overall. I al... Show More

This is an awesome camera! Highly recommend!

Jan 30, 2018

We received the camera, and were immediately impressed. The zoom and being able to take videos in 4K were why we bought it, and we were not disappointed. The quality of the camera is excellent, and Sony delivers when it comes to colors. We also chose this camera over the RX10 IV because the main differences that we could see between the two was an improvement in the slow-motion feature, and the resolution...but I am not interested in printing 4'x... This camera has outstanding versatility and value for money

Sep 19, 2017

I am an amateur photographer. I use the auto settings exclusively. I recently purchased this camera and used it to video in 4K at maximum zoom. The result was crystal clear, smooth video. The still images are also excellent. The camera is rather heavy but beautifully balanced even at maximum zoom. I dropped it by mistake off the bed onto a concrete floor but not a scratch. It is built like a tank. It looks and feels very well made. I am about to tour a hot, dry, desert region in outback Queensland and I am confidant that it will handle the conditions perfectly. Worth every cent!

Great potential

Jan 24, 2017

I bought this camera in hopes that the design will evolve. The lens is quite sharp, especially given its range. I also own an A7Rii which is a more specialized camera while the RX10III is my go to camera for every day use. Both cameras use the same battery and many controls are the same. Unfortunately, the focus on the RX10III is too slow and often hunts, especially on longer shots. Then again, I am hoping the next iteration of the design will include improvements in this vein. Meanwhile, I will try to be patient and enjoy the camera's many qualities. Sony, are you listening?

Nothing in world is like this miracle machine

Jun 17, 2016

The Magical Machine is loaded with Tools. The pictures are so beautiful with a nice blurry background if you desire. The Sony RX10iii is full of features so I have not had enough time to delve into many of them. 600mm is a whole new world of unseen details. It is a real machine and hence it weighs as much as a Nikon D750. But the Lens gives it the edge on all others. The only thing I am missing that stops me from rating it at 5 stars is a built in GPS for noting my exact location. The Canon 6D and 7DMarkii and the Pentax K-1 and K-3ii have that feature, why can't all cameras?

Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III Digital Camera by Sony

May 17, 2016

This new camera is awesome! Love the zoom length and the macro shots. Movies are so clear they almost seem 3D. I had the RX10 original version and the improvements are noticeable. The flexibility for this single lens camera is what I upgraded for and I got it! I also like the new memory recall setup and the exposure wheel on the top. It is heavier and larger than my previous version but worth it with the new lens upgrade. The only negative comment is that the manual they give with it is worthless so you need to go online to download the Users Gide which is much better.

Great Camera

Aug 13, 2017

After a long research and extensive comparison procedures, I decided for this camera. It is exactly what I wanted to buy. A nice and resourceful camera, good for travelling, family parties and offers all wanted by a serious photographer, but not professional like me. Once you get used to the menu and the many features, it becomes easy to find your way around. After just one day with this camera I was sure mine was a good choice. There are some books about this specific camera and it might be a good idea to read one of them in order to complement the original manual.

Cup is 3/4 full

Jun 18, 2017

Plus: most pics are good, but not dSLR good. Good low light performance. Wide zoom range is useful. Lots of control options. Lighter and smaller than a full frame dSLR. Quiet operation. Claimed weather proof. Minus: Lighter than a dSLR, but still is a brick. Long tele focus is consistently soft, so a lot of the zoom range is wasted. Menu controls are tedious and dumb (but not as bad as some reviews suggest). Always restarts to previous focal length. No touch screen. For a lot less money you can get a camera that is nearly as good, weighs less, and is easier to use.

From skeptical to impressed

Oct 2, 2016

I borrowed a RX10-III and was skeptical about shooting with a sensor that small (2.7 crop factor which is about 1/2 of the APS-C format), but i was really impressed with the results. The AF is not as good as the Sony aSeries (like the a6000) but with the reach of that lens, it is understandable. Up until now, my a6000+SELP18105G was my go-to rig for people photography and events... now i am having second thoughts. I have done Model shoots, Weddings and nature photography with the RX10-III and I am having a hard time returning it to its owner. See attached images.

Loving this camera

May 17, 2016

I won't pretend to be a camera/photo nut. Which is why I buy advanced point and shoot. I have had the Panasonic FZ200 for a number of years. I wanted to upgrade so I could wirelessly transfer photos to my phone (which works flawlessly by the way) and the increased telephoto makes taking pictures at my kids sports events that much better. I like eveything about this camera. Reviews stated that the controls were clunky and not intuitive...I disagree. I'm clearly no expert but I've been able to make the camera do whatever I need it to. It's a big winner!

Amazing but difficult to set menus

Oct 4, 2017

To get the most from the camera and to make your photography both easy and fun again, the menu System needs to be set CAREFULLY. Once done, it is a pure joy to use and it is easy. Great photos are possible with little effort. The zoom brings one up close and personal for just about any kind of photography. First outing was pure joy. Started with butterflies and was amazed at the detail. See picture. Negative side is battery does not last long but if you turn it off between shots, it lasts quite a bit longer. Great camera and images.

LOVE it!

May 6, 2016

As a professionalPhotographer and Videographer I could not wait to receive this camera. I was looking for a longer zoom and a Sony cyber-shot that could take an external mic and additional flash unit. I had received a Sony DSCHX-200V as a gift a few years ago and the image and video quality blew me away. The RXIII looks like a photographer's and videographer's prayer answered. Took some test images this morning and the results are great. Will post more images soon but wanted to share the excitement of this camera right away!

Worth the money in build and image quality!

Sep 22, 2016

As a semi-pro who does some freelance video and still work, I am loving this camera. It replaces a Sony VG30. The RX10M3 is much more user friendly and more comfortable in hand held mode than the 30. It has the heft of a serious DSLR without the need for a bunch of separate lenses. This 600mm built in zoom is pleasingly fast and the stills and video look great. Haven't tried 4K yet but am anxious to. A big plus is the external mic and audio monitoring ability not found on many if any other entries in its class.

I really like this camera, especially the lens.

Jan 31, 2017

Its not perfect but its pretty close. In this case I would love to have dedicated dials on the body for adjusting aperture, shutterspeed and iso while in the manual setting. That said I realize it has programmable buttons which will likely do the trick. Rolling shutter is a downer when taking photos while flying down the road. I really like the apps you can download to the camera. And I love the wifi nfc features for remote control with my phone. Also digging the easy wireless downloads to my laptop and phone.

Fantastic all around camera

Jan 3, 2017

I use this camera as a replacement for my A7Rii and a bunch of lenses when traveling. I am always afraid to get dust and dirt on my sensor as well as dropping expensive lenses as I change them and the RX10-iii has alleviated all those fears. The pictures are excellent, sharp, with excellent color. The only thing Imiss is the ultra-wide angle lens (10 mm) so I use my A7Rii for those kinds of shots. The videos are superb. Other than the price I have only good things to say (but then again...nothing good is free)

The Best Available Travel Camera

Jun 30, 2016

After 3 weeks of working with this camera, I'm still figuring out the various configuration optiions; others have noted the confusing mishmash of screens that make this particularly hard. I agree and would add that the documentation available from Sony is not much help. After all that griping I'm amaized at the quality of the images at low ISO settings (100-800) and the maluability of raw files which respond extremly well to post processing. I've concluded it's worth the fight to get the best from this camera.

Exceeded My Expectations!!

Jul 1, 2016

After reading all the great reviews of this camera, I knew this camera would be perfect for vacations and while hiking. My current camera and 150-600mm lens and tripod has gotten to be too much for me. I really needed something light but with at least a 600mm zoom. My one concern about getting another bridge camera was the image quality while shooting at max zoom. I was told I would not be disappointed. I'm not. I can even hand hold the camera at the max zoom. Perfect little camera and I am very happy.

Impressive

May 12, 2016

I am a Canon user, this is my first time I try a Sony Camera, and it is a big surprise, Sony did an wonderful job in here. My first Impressive is the lens. Something I can call it dream lens, Zeiss 24-600mm and f2.4 - 4. It can cover all what you need, low light is good. On the other hand, it can capture 4k video, so it is the great ideal for traveling that I don't need carry a big bag with lens, or use it as backup or secondary camera. I have some pictures here, so you can have your opinion.
