Sharp Lens
This is a preliminary review as I haven't been able to make many test shots, but for the ones I have made they were incredibly sharp, corner to corner. Great contrast. Lens is light weight and fits nicely on my A6500. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that the circular polarizer that came with it is a joke. Took me almost 15 min to get it to screw on. I would imagine regular filters will be fine, but a spinning filter like the polarizer is difficult to grab the lower portion of the filter and get it to screw on. And don't get me started on trying to remove it.

Great lens
I own the 24 and 55 f1.8s Sony Zeiss primes and use on an A6500. Both yield spectacular images especially in low light. Amazing bokeh. Both feel great in the hand on my A6500 and body and lenses make for a compact package that travels well. Highly recommend both, as these are all you will need for most everyday photography situations. Note that I am an amateur and use primarily for family and travel.

I wanted to love this lens
I was excited about getting this lens and wanted to love it. I have the A6000, 18-200mm lens and Sony 50mm lens. The 24mm (35mm on full frame) angle of view is my favorite, and I looked forward to having a fast, sharp prime walk-around lens for my A6000. Yes, the images of people were better than the zoom lens but not as great as I thought they would be. Autofocus was slow. Landscape images didn't have the pop I expected from a Zeiss lens at this price. So, I am returning. Many thanks to B&H for their great customer service.

If this had OSS this would be the best lens for sony aps-c.
This lens is perfect. It's missing OSS though which would have made this incredibly worth every penny for use on aps-c. It's crisp and fast. There's little to no distortion. This is so fun to use whether to with autofocus or manual. It is pretty expensive though compared to the 35mm which everyone chooses over this. If you have an aps-c sony camera and don't ever plan on upgrading to a full frame this is worth it. Otherwise, the 35 is a better option.

Excellent choice for a go-to, walk around lens
I've been searching for a prime lens that would give me an angle of view that would work for travel photography for both street and interior use and also for close-up (but not macro) work. This lens is right on the mark for the focal length I was looking for on an crop sensor camera. I test drove it at an arboretum on an overcast day so I could get an idea of how it would perform indoors without flash, hand held. I was very happy with the quality... Show More

Buy good glass
Paired this lens with my a6500 camera and I really like the combination. This lens has a small form factor, well built, and has the angle that fits my shooting style. Great for street photography as well as portraits. I love the sharpness, colors produced, and speed of this lens. It was a bit more money but once you use this lens you will really enjoy your work much better - don't cheat yourself, buy good glass.

Great lens, still wish it had OSS
This is a great lens - very sharp, I like the field of view as 24mm looks very natural on APS-C for a good general purpose lens, and f1.8 is great for low light. My bottom line is that I bought this while on vacation in NYC and I ended up with some great low light / night time shots that I probably would not have been able to get otherwise. So it's a keeper for me. I give it 4 stars because it doesn't have OSS (stabilization) and I think it's a l... Show More

Good Match for the a6300
I was looking for an all-purpose lens for my new Sony a6300 and have chosen this lens. This was a good choice for several reasons. First and foremost, the lens performs very well in the sharpness and color areas. Secondly, it is a good size for this camera as it allows me to cradle the lens/camera in my left hand while using the viewfinder giving me a nice, solid platform for shooting an image. Looks pretty good on the camera, also and is not thr... Show More

Purple hues
This one was not a keeper for me. I tried using it on my a6000 and was surprised at the number of shots showing unacceptable amounts of chromatic aberration in the usual places (trees), and some strange chroma effects that I have never seen before. I have a Zeiss FE 35mm f2.8 that I absolutely love on my a6000 and expected the same from this lens particularly given all the good reviews. I had only a limited amount of time with the lens, but was s... Show More

Best E-mount lens
Picture sharpness, contrast and color rendition with this lens when paired with my Sony a6000 is on par to my Canon L glasses. It gives me equivalent of 36mm (1.5x factor) which is my most used FL and it balances very well attached to the a6000. I bought it to replace the kit lens and I use it for street photo, grouop photo, low light and landscape.

Great Zeiss Lens..Served me Well
I purchased this Zeiss lens about 6 months after I purchased my Sony NEX-7. It was the best piece of glass I ever owned. I used the lens for fantastic photos in my travels to Lanzarote, Spain; Rome, Italy; Florence, Italy; Pisa, Italy; Marrakech, Morocco; Copenhagen Denmark; Tallinn Estonia; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia. I also enjoyed using it in the Caribbean. My pictures were always sharp with great color rendit... Show More

Great lens. I do a lot of indoor sports photography and the 1.8 f comes in handy. The quality of the photos are sharp and great colors.

Well, this is one of the best lens I have ever used. I have tried quite a lot of lenses, and yeah.. this one is great. It have everything: (1) fast AF, (2)It is F/1.8, (3) It is well built, (4) Sharpness couldn't be better and (5) Close focus ability. What else ?

Appreciate the detail!
So far I have simply been testing the 24mm f.1.8. I plan to use it to photograph people and flowers. I find it is easily as sharp as I had hoped. Also the autofocus, while a bit slow, has so far seemed adequate. Yes, there is more plastic than I wish were in the mounting, but such is the state of things these days. I don't think I got away from plastic even in my EF lenses. I especially appreciate the quality in a lens that works with the NEX-7 to give me a camera I can one-hand when necessary.

Amazing lens...wow factor
I love this lens. The clarity is a true wow factor and quickly has become my favorite lens. Only downside and reason for only 4 stars is lack of sony's optical steady shot which makes low lighting shooting difficult if not on tripod or really concentrating on holding still. However, of all my lenses, this is my favorite!

Pricey...but yes, worth it
I agree with the positives from other reviews; good glass, fine focus, etc..surprisingly good macro. High-quality images with my Nex 6. I am happy with the investment, because over time I can upgrade my camera, but the lens should retain much of its value. Seems solid, well built. I LOVE shooting with it.

THis is a Great Fast Lens from Sony
The Sony SEL24F18Z 24mm lens works great for me and looks beautiful on my Sony NEX-EA50UH camcorder. I needed a wide angle fast lens that looked great using only candle light to light a scene in our horror indie film. The director was amazed at how well it looked after we did our first test shots. I recommend this lens to anyone needing a great low light lens with optimal depth of field. The only thing I wish it had was image stabilization; but this is not a huge deal since most shots I do are on a tripod or steady cam.
