Impossible to Rack Focus When Shooting Video
If you are planning to rack focus while shooting video this is NOT the lens for you! Yes, you can manually focus this lens for still photography or prior to filming, however while recording video it is 100% IMPOSSIBLE to rack focus effectively. This is because the lens uses some crazy algorithm to change the focus throw based upon the focusing speed. I am an expert focus puller and yes, I had read the reviews about how difficult this lens i... Show More

best pro kit lens ever
I bought this lens with my GH5 from a local dealer in my area and boy am I happy! This lens offers excellent sharpness and the focal length offers access to all the necessary focal lengths. I do photography as a hobby and videography for hire and it covers just about everything I need, 12mm for wide-angle landscapes, 25mm for video, 40mm for portrait, and 60mm for light telephoto/some macro. My only gripe with this lens and most lenses in the Pan... Show More

Nice piece of glass
This was purchased to use with my Panasonic DC-G9. It works well with this camera as an everyday lens. It covers basic wide angle to roughly 2.5x zoom. Zoom works smoothly and the auto focus is fast. 2.8 aperture lets in lots of light and makes use of a flash almost unnecessary. It is pricey, but does so much for you. Well worth it.

Compliments all the other Leica 4/3 Lenses I have
I am not a lens expert, but I think the 4/3 Vario lenses are very good. I have Canon red ring video lenses and F series still lenses as well as older legacy lenses from Leica, Canon, Minolta and Sigma, and the Leica lenses are just as good.

Amazing!
Ive been taking and making photos since the black and white film days. In those days i had to carry around a huge camera bag full of prime lenses. I wouldnt dream of using a zoom lens, Not true nowadays! My wife just got this lens for me, it arrived today and I took a few snap shots around the yard and house.WOW! At 100% crop I could see my own reflection in my subjects eyes! I took some snaps of cherries on the try and at 100% crop could see the... Show More

Excellent Zoom
Really nice lens. I like how it focuses down really close for a pseudo macro look. I bought this lens for travel. It has a good range for that. Its a little smaller than Olympuss 12-100 which in my opinion makes it a better mate to my Pen F. If you buy this lens you wont be disappointed.

You know, for a glamorous kit lens, I use it all the time.
Its my go to outdoor lens. Run and Gun, here I Come! I would not recommend this indoors. I cant think of a better lens to get when you buy a new camera. Sure, the 12-35mm f2.8 is nice in its own way. BUT if you can only have one lens, this is the one.

Using it on a old GH 4
I'm using this lens more for video then stills. It's not bad. The auto focus seems to work well. It does not do real well under low light conditions. If your using this for stills I would recommend a flash. Oh! there is a bit of noise that comes from the lens when not in use. it goes away when you turn on the camera. The wight of this lens is nice and light. If you buy anything buy a UV lens lens cover it takes the worry of doing anything to the real lens.

Excellent lens for everyday use
I have been using this lens on a GH5 for about a year. The zoom range, coupled with the GH5 2x tele conv option, allows me to quickly adjust for unexpected photo opportunities. Panasonic's power-OIS makes up for the 2.8-4 max aperture. Image quality is exceptional. The lens is solid with smooth zoom and silent focus.

What a downfall!
I Purchased a short while ago this Leitz lens for my GH5. On a trip, when the camera when the camera was hanging on me, the camera was bumped by a person bypassing by in Amsterdam airport. It was quite a mild blow. The lens split into 2 parts. The bayonet remained attached to the camera body, and the rest of the lens barrel was detached. It seems that the metal bayonet is joined with the lens by a plastic ring, three thin plastic prongs and... Show More

Quickly became my "go to" lens!
I am still learning this lens but it has quickly become my "go to" lens. It is mounted to my G9 most of the time. Build quality is solid and I find it a versatile lens. I will follow up once I have more time using it. So far I love it!

Not my favotite
I used this lens for video with a GH5. The focus is fast and sharp. The zoom ring is clunky so not going to pull off any smooth zooms while shooting live video. I also was just not very pleased with the image out of this, almost looked over sharpened and flat. I have a handful of other Panasonic and pan/Leica lenses I love, just not this one.

Is something loose in there?
I received my 12-60mm today, have not tried it yet, but I can hear and feel a rattle when handing it. I saw other reviews touting its solid build but I don't know if I have ever had a lens with this issue. I have six other Lumix lenses (four of them zooms) that do not do this.

A Versatile Lens
This is a nice lens, well made (at least the one I got--some reviewers have had problems), covering a nice range of focal lengths. While 2.8 throughout would have been nice, I usually photograph at f/4 or higher so I appreciate the lower weight and price. However, I number of my photographs are taken in cities and towns, and I found that there is noticeable barrel distortion in the 12-14 mm range even with the build-in image correction (I use Lig... Excellent walkaround lens for GX85
I have a Lumix GX85 as my small travel camera but wanted a wider range zoom for a recent trip. The 12-60 f2.8-4 is close to perfect. Its range covers most anything I needed and I only used my longer zoom one time over the course of two weeks abroad. The lens is solid, heavy, and seems as well built as the other Panasonic zooms I have (12-35 f2.8 and 35-100 f2.8). I probably won't use it much on my GH5 because I shoot mostly video and want const... Show More

Everything I wanted
I'm a big fan of the Panasonic Leica lenses. I also own the 45 mm macro and 100-400. I think these lens are just as sharp as the much heavier Nikon lenses . The 12-60 mm will be my primary travel lens. The zoom action is very smooth and shooting panoramics with this lens is easy.

Best General Purpose lens
Its good for a lot, master of none. The Lecia name speaks for itself. I find that I can get sharp images at any focal range without pixel peeping worries, "I might be losing something," the further into the range I go. As with any lens, it has its sweet spot, this one has a much wider range that its sweet to shoot in. So if your only planing on having one good lens, then this is it! However, I should warn, lens are very niche. If you find that n... Show More

Incredible Lens
The range is absolutely ideal for travel and work. It is the one lens I always have with me. You can basically shoot anything due to the nice range (24mm-120mm equivalent) and it is very sharp, with excellent contrast and overall image quality. I use this lens for 80% of my photography and use the 8-18 for the rest.

One lens to rule them all
I have the Panasonic 12-35 f/2.8 OIS. I viewed this as the ultimate "walk around" lens until I purchased the 12-60 f/2.8-4 OIS. Now I view my new lens as the perfect M4/3rds "One lens". Like many, I've moved away from heavy full-frame rigs. Don't get me wrong. I love my Sony a7RIII with it's exceptional (but very heavy glass options) and it's awesome low light capabilities, but the ergonomics and mobility of my Panasonic gear is a game changer. ... Really great for shooting if you can't decide between a long or wide angle lens. the F stop changes as you zoom, so the 2.8 is only at 12mm. Otherwise, really high quality and some sharp pictures!

In fact I have just ordered a second one for camera 2.

Fantastic lens
Been shooting Nikon equipment since the early 70's. Good Nikon equipment is great, but heavy. Lately I've been looking for a lighter camera without sacrificing flexability or Image quality. The Olympus Mirrorless camera came close to satisfying that objective, and the Leica / Panasonic F2.8 lens puts the combination over the top. It's macro capability will handle most field requirements. Greater macro capability results in greater weight. The 5:1... Show More
