This thing is black-hole heavy; I use them for my trumpets and haven't even slid them accidentally. I still have a heavy duty folder, which loves to tip over, and when folded still adds a good deal of bulk to my bag, which loses me mouthpieces of room. This stand unscrews to almost two dimensions, and the price is outstanding. I fully expected sheet metal powdercoated and bent down along the edges -- the base is actually carved out of a car immobilizer.
