Great travel & street camera

Mar 8, 2018

Having not owned a Micro Four Thirds camera in over 5 years -- I sold my E-P2 and GX1 for a Nikon D7000 -- I'm coming back to this system with fresh eyes and without the baggage of being fully invested in what came before. I needed a travel camera that still allowed for interchangeable lenses, and I also wanted an EVF. This is the camera I landed on. Honestly, despite what a previous reviewer has written, it doesn't matter much what this camera ... Show More

Save money buy the Olympus EM10 MK2 instead of the EM10 MK3

Oct 13, 2017

Save money buy the Olympus EM10 MK2 instead of the EM10 MK3. Here are the reasons why: 1. They changed the ports and there's no remote shutter cable connector. 2. They took away a lot of programmability on the function buttons. 3. They took away the programmability on the direction pad. 4. One less programmable function button. 5. They took away the Myset preset option. 6. They also eliminated the wireless RC flash function. As far as I can tell ... Show More

High quality handiness

Jul 11, 2019

After many years of using, first Pentax, and then Nikon DSLR's , both film and digital, and even though delighted with their quality, I began to wish for something equally capable but smaller and lighter; I experimented with advanced point and shoot cameras, both the Canon G5X (excellent but the zoom is a little short at 24-100 mm) and Sony DSC-HX99 (also excellent and with a much longer zoom but.....no interchangeable lenses).....So I began to l... The Best Travel camera upgrade!

Jun 6, 2019

I had the Olympus PEN E-PL6, which I bought in Hongkong in 2013 to replace my Canon 500D as my main travel camera. My Canon 500D is still my reliable go-to camera but due to its bulk, I decided to buy a mirrorless camera that be perfect for my family travels. Unfortunately, in our recent US trip, the LCD display of my E-PL6 suddenly stopped working. I was not yet planning to buy another travel camera but since I am travelling to the US east coast... Ignore the Beginner Camera label

Jan 9, 2020

This camera does everything you need. The only thing I miss is the ability to enter some settings and be able to save them as a preset. The camera is smaller than an OM1, smaller than a Pentax ME smaller than a Canon Rebel. ...but it does so much more. This camera fits in the hand so nicely, yet is smaller than all of the above compact 35 mm cameras. The kit lens is just outstanding, too. It's not fast, but it is sharp and compact. It's not as ... Streamlined Starter Camera

Mar 6, 2018

I bought the 3 as a second camera, my other camera is a Pen f with more than enough features, too many, really. I agree with the other reviewer as far as what Olympus has subtracted from this model vs. the em10 2. However, the 3 is a step up in processor speed - Tru Pic 8 vs 7. I think it even focuses slightly faster than the Pen f because of it. It also has 4K video and a better grip. For what it is, those features are enough for me as a street,... Show More

Moving from OMD-10 Mark 1 to OMD-10 Mark 3

May 20, 2018

I loved the old model, so that skipping a generation was easy. The new camera improves many aspects of the old camera. Its feels more solid and premium. But it also failed to excite me. In this review I would like to highlight the things that I DON'T like in the new camera body (compared to OMD 10 Mark 1): The battery life is shorter. As a result, I need to charge the battery once a day - very annoying It's heavier and bigger. Not something th... Show More

A lot to like

Jan 21, 2019

This is presented as an entry level camera, and it fits that purpose beautifully It can be as automatic or manually controlled as you want it to be, so the beginner can take charge of more as he/she becomes more capable. Ive been using cameras since about 1950, and the retro design makes it feel the way a camera is supposed to feel (to me). The eye-level viewfinder is a nice plus, although the viewing screen is bright enough to be usable in most ... Show More

Good things in small packages

May 1, 2019

The camera is a bit smaller physically than I expected but feels rugged and well built. The on/off switch on the left side of the hump takes some getting used to but otherwise everything is where youd expect. The shake reduction feature is amazing and is demonstrated in the viewfinder with the shutter half pressed. Pretty cool, actually. The image quality is superb and I love Olympuss color renditioning, but I never go for large blow ups or pixel peep so take that for what its worth. All in all a great little camera.

This it the 3rd one I've had

Aug 12, 2019

I have moved to Olympus, starting with the first E-M10. I upgraded to the mk ii, and bought the mk iii to convert to IR. My go to camera is the PenF. It has more features, but is more expensive and does more than I needed for playing with IR. So, I had no reservations about getting another E-M10. Olympus does not seem to make a grip for it, but I found a third party grip at B&H that rounds out the camera well for shooting one handed or when I put a bigger lens on the camera like the 14-150.

Mark III ... Compact and Light

Apr 4, 2019

I already own the EM1 Mark II camera ... but I wanted a smaller and lighter body ... for casual photography ... and also ... would handle all my current Olympus lens ... the M10 Mark III is the answer. It has the main photo features that I need ... Raw & Jpeg files ... Bracketing ... Time Lapse ... and Live Comp plus 4k & FHD movies. Olympus Mirrorless cameras are light ... easy to use ... very well made ... take excellent photos and videos ... and make photography fun.

My camera is overheating in causal use - locks me out

Feb 10, 2018

I was excited to purchase this camera and am carrying it on my trip to Argentina but found out it overheats and shuts down after casual use. It cools down after a few hours and I can use it again - for a few pictures. I have no idea how do deal with this while I am traveling. Do I really need to spend another $600 to purchase a piece of equipment that works?

Special Little One

Dec 16, 2019

This is my second time purchasing this camera. Both times were upgrades from massive DSLRs. Loved the ease to learn and use. Its small in size but big in bite. Features are plentiful for all levels of photographers to enjoy. I will always have this camera as a primary or secondary.

Great Camera !

Nov 17, 2017

I love to travel and take pictures with my regular size DSLR until I decided to switch to Olympus mirrorless. With it's great functions, touch screen, picture quality and most especially lightweight. I highly recommend this mirrorless camera especially when you love to travel.

A great little camera

Dec 11, 2017

I use this camera mostly for family, travel and other personal activities with the 14 - 42 RII lens and it's just perfect, but I do wish it had a wired remote connection. Video is much improved over the em-5 which I use for commercial work with the 12-40 pro lens.

Improvements over Mark I

May 13, 2019

I replaced my E-M10 mark I with the Mark III. The auto focus is better and faster, it now uses a standard microUSB connector, and there are probably other improvements that I have not experienced yet. It is a great MFT camera and has everything I need.
