VERY GOOD FOR THE PRICE, OPTICAL CONNECTION FROM MY HITACHI TV IS SUPER. BASS IS NOT BAD BUT NOTE THERE IS NO SUBWOOFER OUT PORT FROM THIS BAR. A GOOD TIP: WHEN USING AN OPTICAL CABLE YOU ALSO GET SOUND FROM THE TV SPEAKERS WHICH MAKES THE ADJUSTMENTS, BASS TONE ETC MUCH MORE PRECISE AND EASY TO DO. JUST MAKE SURE YOUR TV HAS SPDIF (OPTICAL OUT)

Good Soundbar for the price.
We are pleased with this soundbar as it makes listening to TV much easier for my husband as he has hearing aids. I like the sound too, although our TV had good sound, this makes it clearer but not harsh. Great sound for music too. Good value for money. as not too expensive. Our TV is 55 ins and it has no problem with that and our lounge is quite large.

Good sound
Purchased this as it was one of the shorter sound bars available. Fits just right on my unit. Easy to install and the sound quality for the money is very good. Have one gripe though, used the Argos instant chat to check if the optical cable was included, was told, no, so I ordered one. On opening the box for the sound bar, found there is one supplied!

This sound bar makes a huge difference.
Hitachi sound bar purchased to solve poor sound quality on a five year old flat screen tv. Set up took no more than five minutes even with a satelite box in the circuit. The music audio performance is much enhanced, speech is clearer, even with regional accents and there is plenty of volume available should it be required. Definitely a good purchase.

A little improvement
There was some improvement with the sound speech. I don't think it will get better as today 's programs have far to much load background music and some of the actors mumble their words. For the price it was good value and hardly any base sound which helps. If you want a soundbar with a lot of base this is not for you. I did not want a base increase.

Not compatible
If your sound bar has a connection on the bottom, not the back for the cable then this cable is no good for you. The connector on the end of the cable that plugs into the sound bar is quite long making the sound bar tilt/tip forwards. Had to return, just using Bluetooth connection instead now, the sound quality seems as good as cable connection.

Great for tv's
Needed something to boost my hitachi tv sound, this sound bar is greattor that, its easy to set up or connect too via Bluetooth. Comes with remote control too which is a bonus. Im not to keen on listening to music through it though, however im used to really powerful speakers for music. All in all i would recommend this sound bar for its price.

Just right
Read the reviews , saw the price , went for it as the sound on my thin TV was bad ( all thin TVs have bad sound due to poor quality , thin speakers ). Ordered and paid On Line at 10.am , fast track collected , with no waiting , at 10.30.am and listening to programmes and music , with much better sound , at 11.30.am That's what I call service

Very disappointed
Bought the blue tooth sound bar which was advertised with the TV I purchased at the same time but when I went to set it up the TV needed a cable connecting to the Blue tooth sound bar. Very disappointed. I called the Argos call centre to be told it was my fault and I should have read the instruction manual ( before I bought the sound bar).

Good value
A good value for money sound bar that’s very easy to set up & use. Provides a decent alternative to the standard tv speakers but was as loud as I was expecting from something of 120 w output. Saying that the vocal sound is quite crisp & clear. I’m not big on heavy bass but it could do with a little more. Overall a good value soundbar.

Great value
Generally I am very happy with this item. It is probably the best sound bar around in this price range. Best advice is to read some of the reviews/questions asked and then decide if this is what you are looking for. I am using an optical cable and find I get the best sound by adjusting the sound settings through the TV volume menu.

Didn't work with my telly
Not something they tell you in the catalogue but some tellys don't like other soundbar brands & the Hitachi bar couldn't work with the Audio codecs from my Panasonic TV. It was OK for 'live' tv programmes but anything else wouldn't work, Fortunately, argos staff took it back & were really helpful in sorting out what would work.

Very easy to set up.
Very good value for money . It was very easy to set up . Plug and play . The only slightly annoying thing is , the green "on" light is rather bright and may distract you when watching the tv . I just ignore it . Sound is good for a small to medium sized room . If you have a very big room , then consider the more expensive options.

Some features don't work but not bad
Can t get Bluetooth to work. Oddly red light is on and green is off (this fòoled me for quite some time thinking it was DOA). Other than that it's not bad for the price of you don't want to spend a fortune and does have an optical connection. Sound lacks base but that is to be expected given the size. Much better than TV sound.

Really easy set up
This is the second Hitachi soundbar bought (for another TV) as you don't realise how poor the sound quality is on a 40 inch Hitachi flat-screen until you set up a soundbar - back to sound that you used to get from an actual TV! Dead easy to set up in a few mins and your up and running and that horrible tin sound effect is gone.

Very nice product
Fore the price and quality its a no brainer the sound is very good and very easy to set up plus it looks great on the stand the remote control is very easy to operate with just a few buttons instead of the usual mind field as some of them have I would definitely recommend this sound bar for the price and quality thanks Nigel

Not bad for the price
This is a lot cheaper than many speakers out there, so the sound quality is not amazing. It does have two annoying features. One, it doesn't switch on and off with the TV so you need to keep the controller handy to switch it on and adjust the sound levels. Two, I s couldn't get the bluetooth to sink with any of my devices.

Excellent for the price
Bought this on offer and I'm glad I did. Not the fanciest but only have a small flat so can't be too loud anyway. Easy enough to set up. Don't notice the difference really watching normal tv, but excellent for films or something with layered sound. Loving rewatching LOTR and the hobbit on it. Picks up the score really well.

Hitachi Sound bar
This is a reasonably priced unit that gives well balanced sound quality and is simple to set up and operate. It comes with a selection of connecting leads except for optical. On the minus side, the remote control is too small and flimsy and can easily be mislaid. A perfect candidate for losing down the back of the sofa !!

Just the job, but could be louder.
After reading other reviews I purchased an optical cable to connect it to my tv. The sound is so much better than the tinny sound I was getting from my tv. However, it doesn’t go particularly loud, but at the price I paid I am more than happy with its performance. If the volume level was louder would have given 5 stars.

Poor sound and volume
I thought that this speaker would be of good quality as I would expect from Hitachi, but don't waste your money. advertised as 120Watts output, it turned out to be Speaker Output Power 2 x 15 Wrms @ 2% THD. the sound quality is so poor that I would prefer to listen directly from the T.V. speakers. "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY"

Can't be beat
This is a great sound bar that delivers good spacial sound. I had no optical connect (cable supplied) on my TV so used the provided headphone cable instead. This connection does switch off the TV sound but the sound bar more than made up for this. What's more is that it has bluetooth so connecting my iphone was a breeze!

Good product for the price
Soundbar works well, definently sounds bettet than rhe speakers from a tv. For the price it does the job, however the bluetooth connectivity could function alot better. Can take ages for my device to be paired with the soundbar, often resulting in me giving up and using my other jack connected speakers. Onky drawback.

Not the best by far
I bought this soundbar a few weeks back and after setting iit up which was very straight forward the sound was very disappointing. It seemed very flat and the vocals were not very defined. It could do with some sort of eq but you cannot adjust the frequencies. I returned it and decided to stay with the TVs sound instead.
