Good value
I recently aquired a portable DVD player which would be ideal for my young granddaughter to use in the car while travelling. It has speakers, but the volume level is low and poor, hence difficult to hear in a car. I therefore looked for a low cost pair of headphones which would be more sensitive and block some of the ambient noise. I was pleasantly surprised. The build quality is good for the price and the performance more than adequate. A good set of phones for "low fi" such as MP3 iplayers and dvd players.

Just the job
I needed replacement headphones for my iPad I didn’t need anything expensive or fancy but I wanted over ear headphones not ones that go in your ear. Saw these and at this price thought I’d try them. They are comfortable and sound decent so they are ideal. Only criticism is that no instruction book was included and I didn’t think it would fit the iPad socket but then I found if you pull the gold jack off the smaller one is underneath it. Also there’s a dial on the wires to control volume.

Good value
In terms of value for money this product is good, looks stylish and the in-built volume control is very handy. At this price point you are not going to get top notch sound quality for listening to music, in fact I use them mainly for TV, though they are not too bad for music and I use them with an iPod when I'm out of the house - comfortable to wear. Lead is quite short which is a good thing when you are out. For TV I use a headphone extension lead Bought a spare set as I find them useful.

FANTASTIC VALUE
Purchased for my disabled wife's use, to enable her to listen to audio books played on an Alba portable CD player, these lightweight stereo headphones have proved to be excellent for the purpose. The addition of the in-line volume control and mono/stereo switch, which do not appear in the description on the website, are simple to use and prove beneficial for listening also to music CD's. With the padded foam ear pieces and adjustable length they also prove to be comfortable to wear.

Still under consideration
We purchased these headphones for our son who only likes this style of phone so our choice is a little limited. I was amused to receive this request for a review today as this pair were purchased to replace an identical pair purchased on 10 August 2011 which had given up the ghost. I actually returned the first pair to Argos today for replacement as we were away on holiday last week and only now have I been able to get at the receipt. He has had cheaper phones that have lasted longer.

excellant value
I bought these to take on holiday, to use with my ipod, as the type that sits inside the ear,i find uncomfortable to use, I must say I was pleasantely surprised at the sound quality they produce, and given the price I paid ,I am really pleased with these headphones, I would not hesitate to recommend them to any one, the dual socket is also a big plus, as they can be plugged into home stereos , radios, and such like. a very good buy, I am more than happy with them, well worth buying.

Stopped working in less than two weeks
Due to these headphones being inexpensive I was very happy with them until they stopped working after less than 2 weeks. last Autumn I bought an Alba tablet that turned out to be so flimsy the glass cracked across the screen also within weeks of buying it. I was told as it was the glass broken there was nothing Argos could do unless I could prove it was a manufacturer fault which of course I can't prove. After these headphones I have decided I won't risk buying Alba again.

Lightweight
Very lightweight headphones for working at the computer at home, to avoid heavy or tight ones that end up hurting the ears, or earbuds that keep falling out. It's always the wire that breaks on headphones first, so low cost ones like this are the best way to go. I use them for spoken word and not for music so can't comment on that type of quality. I like to be able to hear something of the other sounds in the house e.g. doorbell, and it's easy to slip one side off for that.

Cheap and usable but not on personal music players
I wanted an occasional alternative to earbuds. These looked like the solution. Very disappointing. They are set up for high output sources (hifi, TV, radio) but not ipod type devices. They are very low sensitivity meaning that on an ipod, they are far too quiet. There is simply not enough volume and they have to be turned up very high indeed in order to hear anything. They work ok so have not bothered to return them. Instead, the wife uses them for the TV.

You get what you pay for
I know nothing about headphones and though that, if I bought a cheap pair, they would work just as well as the earphones that came with my mobile phone, which have unfortunately lost an earpiece. How wrong was I? ! With my earphones I can listen on a noisy tube to foreign language recordings with perfect clarity. With these cheap headphones, I could barely hear the recordings in a quiet room!!! Needless to say, I returned them and got my money back.

Sits on ears nicely
Needed headphones that sit nicely over the ears and suitable for laying down in bed and going to sleep on! These fit the bill perfectly, not too bulky! Sound is good for my audio tapes, comes with volume control which is handy. Could do with being a bit more robust, but what can you expect when you go to sleep laying on them! This is my second pair and have bought a third as a spare. For the money, they are good, no, excellent value!

An average product with one flaw
I only use it for voice so I can't judge its sound quality for music. What I don't like at all is the shortness of its lead. I have it plugged into the front of my computer which is approximately 3' from my head, and the cable allows me very little movement. It's just too short. I don't know if the length was stated in its page. If it was, it was my own fault for not reading it well enough.

Perfect for the kids
I bought 2 of these for the children to use on a long car journey. They were very comfortable (much better than the "ear plug" style) and easily adjusted to fit my 4 and 7 year olds. You could still hear some background noise but the children were more than happy and could hear their dvd no problem. No good if you're seriously into your music but for children/occasional use they're great.

Did a good job
Needed somethibg for a short flight to Scotland, bought these as my 3 year old doesnt make things last so didnt want to spend a fortune. They were amazing she was happy she could watch things on her tablet and without disturbing anyone, she was really well behaved on her first flight ever. I gave it a 3 for sound becos the spund wasnt great however i wasnt using them so didnt bother me

Useful headphones at a good price
I have been buying these headphones for many years. I like to listen to the radio at night but without disturbing my husband. These are fine for that - if I fall asleep you can’t feel them and if they break - sometimes the wiring comes lose - it’s reasonable to replace them. Having said that, they were only about £6 the last time I bought them and they have really gone up.

Came In Very Handy
Bought these for my dad to use with his AM/FM radio while he was in hospital. They helped him to not go insane with boredom (and not disturb the other patients) during his stay. Said they were very comfortable and did the job well (and he is quite deaf so I was very pleased by this). Would thoroughly recommend as a great budget headphone option for "over the top" headphones.

Not bad for first headphones i bought
The Alba on-ear headphones, whilst not looking like much from a picture, actually come as a surprise. Sound quality is great, and with an in-fitted volume-control wheel as well as the option to switch from mono to stereo, it quickly hits satisfaction for ease of use. Sound quality is great. Overall, not bad for a roughly assembled and cheap set of headphones.

Not Too Bad
Bought these headphones to replace similar ones I'd bought for around the same price some years ago, as the foam around the headphones was worn away. These headphones aren't as comfortable, in my opinion, due to the lack of foam around the headphone. Yes, they're cheap, but should still be more comfortable. Still a decent enough buy for the price, though.

Cheap but good headphones
These headphones were quite cheap but I didn't want to pay a lot as my daughter seems to get through a lot. Saw these and thought they will do. They are great for the price. My daughter said they comfortable and got good sound. And she can even adjust the sound on the wire as it's got an adjustment button on it. Which is great. Definitely recommend these

Durable on-ear headphones
If you need a pair of cheap on-ear headphones then look no further. I bought them for my dad who wears hearing aids. You need to separate the stereo wire a bit before you put them on, and some people may not be aware you can do this without damaging the product. Needs a little bit more thought. The packaging is easy to get into, so top marks there!

Plain and simple
Brought these to replace a similar pair. They are not the most robust of headphones but for my purposes they are just fine. I listen to a lot of music from my tablet and, unlike heavier models, they sit nicely over my ears, are very light with an excellent mono/stereo volume control. Depending on frequency of use, I would certainly recommend them.

Design Is There But Not The Sound
Alba has always been a favourite of mine and although these headphones were cheap I still expected something good from them.They don't sit comfortably on the head,you can still hear everything going on around you and the sound,at full volume is just a whisper. In the end I returned them and spent a few pounds more elsewhere on a better quality.

Cheap and functional
Over the years, I have bought several of these, as I use them to listen to my MP3 player when I find it difficult to sleep. They are comfortable to wear when lying down. Sometimes, the plastic leg might crack, but that is not the fault of the headphones, more the way I use them. They are lightweight for travelling as I take them on holiday.

Great headset
Thoroughly recommend this headset. Fantastic price and very comfortable with really good sound quality. Just wanted these for my android phone so they are ideal. Comes with a 3.5 jack plus a larger adaptor for other uses. The switch to go from stereo to mono broke on first set but new set seem OK. Also has volume control. You can't go wrong!
