This review is limited to the differences between the Fiio AM3 vs Fiio AM3A (primarily in the balanced mode). The AM3 is easily more dynamic, warmer, and with a greater bass response. The AM3A is brighter, sharper, and maybe a bite clearer/cleaner. The modules are used on the Fiio Q5. The enhanced bass of the AM3 is primarily due to the low output impedance (0.3 in balanced) vs (1.7 in balanced) of the AM3A. It is definitely worth the $79.99 to h... Very sensitive earphones like Campfire Audios Andromeda are very source dependent and sound quite different between the two modules. Using the Q5 I didnt hear any hiss with either module.
