Disappointed

Jun 17, 2016

I expected an awesome image but that's not the case with the monitor I received. The one I got was clearly repackaged with loose cords and unwrapped components. I've checked the resolution and it claims to be 3840 x 2160; however the Dell 27 inch that I had previously had a much sharper image with richer colors. I suppose I should return it and try again, just wanted to share my experience. I also found that this unit does not have built in speakers and is not set up to accept the Dell speaker bar so if you want sound you'll need separate speakers.

Outstanding Monitor

Jun 3, 2016

Love this monitor. One the main reasons why I purchased this monitor is for its wide color gamut as I do a lot of Photoshop work. I am very pleased with the results. In addition, the monitor displays very clear, crisp details and text. I love that the monitor displays 2560 x 1440 pixels because I can view so much more on screen whether web pages, multiple documents, spreadsheets, etc. The display area reaches nearly to the edges of the monitor so... Works well on Mac

Jun 2, 2016

This monitor looks great. Connected quickly to my 2013 Macpro via the supplied display port cable. Monitor looked good out of the box but after a quick calibration with with an i1 display Pro it was perfect. I am using this for video editing and color correction.

POOR COLOR UNIFORMITY

Jun 2, 2016

The monitor I received had a distinct change in colour/hue from left to right across the display. The left side was green/yellow, the right side was magenta (see pic). This had a distinct impact on (for example) skin tone rendition across the screen. The only way to get rid of this hue change was to switch on the software-based 'Uniformity Compensation' mode - under UC mode the monitor looked fine, i.e. evenly lit and with even color. BUT in UC m... Show More

The monitor for photograhers

Mar 28, 2016

This wide gamut monitor is THE monitor to buy for photographers. On the price/performance scale, I believe this is the best on the market. People who wear progressively ground lenses in their eyeglasses (me) will like the 25 inch size. Others may opt for the slightly larger 27 inch model. I'm driving this with Windows 10 and and NVIDIA GE Force 960-based video card. I have thus far not installed any of the Dell software that came with the monitor and have thus far not missed it.

Upgraded for Photo Editing

Mar 28, 2016

Upgraded from a 7-8 year old Sony CRT monitor; primary use will be general home applications plus photo editing; planned to purchase a more expensive monitor for photo editing, but B&H salesman convinced me of the merits of this monitor; first experience with a flat screen home monitor; resolution and color are outstanding.

I love it

Mar 16, 2016

Everything about this monitor is fantastic. The contrast and color is great, the angle of viewing is splendid. The cost is great. I love the height adjustment a lot. The two USB.3 connections on the side are the real deal, Almost as fast as my hard-drive upload speed. I have yet to calibrate my Epson v850 scanner and the screen together. I use the monitor for scanned film editing, as well as CAD drafting and Photoshop.

The best Dell Monitor I ever used!

Mar 7, 2016

This is by far the best Dell Monitor I ever used. I had 2 Ultrasharp U2711 and they served me very well int the past. UP2516D is improving not only by image quality but also ergonomics and aesthetics as well. Just put your overglorified Apple Cinema Displays into the trash and grab these ones! In that price point it is the most cost effective and performance solution you can get from a professional monitor!

Great picture quality with horrible firmware/electronics

Mar 3, 2016

With great sadness after spending two weeks and enjoying great picture quality I will have to send it back to B&H. Issue is that monitor periodically locks up and the only way to reset it is to unplug power cord. What happens is that monitor goes into power saving mode and stays there no matter what connection (miniDP, DP or HDMI connector) I'm using. Power button is not responding either and considering that there is no physical switch I have to... Show More

Great while it lasted

Feb 18, 2016

Purchased this monitor strictly for post processing and editing photos. Easy set up and everything was well calibrated right out of the box. Unfortunately the second time I powered up the monitor a thin green line developed from top to bottom on the right side of the screen. I have contacted B&H Customer Service and as normal they are handling a replacement. I hope this was just one bad monitor and not a known issue that impacts all.

Great Monitor for photo editing

Feb 16, 2016

The color after calibration is outstanding! Dell suggests the use of the X-Rite Colorimeter and software to calibrate the monitor. With a little effort I was able to tune the display to match my Standard Epson PDI target colors perfectly with my vintage ColorVision Spyder2 colorimeter. The prints of the targets from my Epson R2880 are also a perfect match (the objective of calibration)! The trick is to use the monitor's buttons and select Color|C... Show More

Expensive, but Likely Worth It

Feb 8, 2016

This monitor will take up a good chunk of desk real estate. There is no two ways about it. However, it will also give that same real estate back in allowing applications to show a lot more information at once and unlike multiple monitor setups, there is no bezel to get in the way. This monitor is very effective for photo editing. The high resolution and size means that you are practically zoomed in on an image for some serious pixel peeping even ... Show More

not even close to 99.5% aRGB

Feb 2, 2016

Perhaps I received a defective monitor. I was replacing a U2711 monitor with this one. The size is amazing, and the anti-glare screen is nicer than the U2711. It's a lot less fuzzy. I was going to initially run them side by side, but I think this monitor can replace a dual monitor setup if you don't need to look at something on the other side. The USB 3 ports work as expected. The U2711 is supposed to have 96% aRGB coverage and calibrate to 97.5%... Show More

Great monitor for photo editing

You have read the specs so no need to go over them again. This is a great monitor for photo editing. The colors are bright and crisp. I have seen some subtleties that I missed before. The size is big but not too big. I am obsessed with quality. Just be aware that at this resolution text will appear smaller that usual. I have a key on my keyboard that enlarges text in brower pages but it does not affect the panels in Lightroom. If you have vision ... Show More

Excellent picture with some quirky UI

Jan 24, 2016

Pros: Excellent picture quality, likely the best monitor under $2k you can buy today. Comes individually calibrated from the factory. No dead pixels. Great viewing angle. Just unbelievable 4k picture. Cons: The menu is only available when you can see the input signal. Thus it is pretty useless when you need to debug why you see no signal. Other thoughts: HDMI2 was off by default. Once enabled - I had trouble with sleep/resume on HDMI2 4k@60Hz - n... Show More

Get what you pay for (in this case)

Briteness very acceptable, in fact I may choose to lower the briteness a bit because it is quite bright at factory settings. Clarity is awesome. Color correctness seems spot on. Unsure about response time (good or bad?)--I'm not a gamer, and I don't watch movies on this thing, so I haven't noticed any bluring of image or such.

Best display you can buy

Dec 6, 2015

This thing is huge, bright, accurate color rendering, USB 3.0 hub, and 4K resolution that's actually good quality. So much space to work on just about anything, but my profession is creative, so video and digital it specifically excels at for me. The adjustment to 4K can take a little getting used to, but once you do, there is no going back. Using mine with a canister 2013 Mac Pro and it was plug and play, with hardly any calibration needed.
