I have enjoyed the short time I have had the a9. I am in the middle of switching over from Canon and with the introduction of sony's longer lenses recently I finally had a reason to purchase this a9 that is ideal for wildlife/action purposes (what I primarily shoot). Wow
I've only had the a9 for two weeks but I was able to use it to shoot 3 high school basketball games. It's a long-ish learning curve, but so far I've been able to use the focus (expanded/tracking) paradigm. Knocked my socks off. Can't wait to grow with it.

Amazing action camera!
New to Sony, I first rented this camera then purchased it. The burst rate and focus accuracy are just mind-blowing. I have so many sharp pictures to sort through now (not a bad problem to have...)! Mostly birds and will be looking to shoot some sports to see what it can do. As I am not a professional, the M2 was not worth the extra $$.

Wow! Exceeded my expectations.
Subject tracking including continuous real-time eye detection are CRAZY good. And totally silent shooting is a bigger benefit than I anticipated. 20 frames/sec with full auto focus is great for sports, but the subject tracking and silent shooting are useful for many types of photography. Camera arrived defective
Sony has a quality control problem. Camera arrived...I charged the battery...updated the firmware...started to setup the camera..then the camera stopped function during the setup...could not access the menu again...wasted three hours trying everything and researching on the internet...very frustrating

So far it's been really good and I'm still learning.
This is my third a series camera and it's better than the a7 and a7rII that I have. I'm still learning and will try to get better.

Great camera
Ive only had the a9 a couple weeks, but I love it already! Since I have other Sony cameras I find it easy to use since the menu is similar on all of them. Im waiting for the Sony 200-600 lens to partner with it . In the meantime Im shooting with a Tamron 28-75 with good results.

Amazing performance
A great camera for action. Paired with the Sony 100-400 bird flight capture improved by an order of magnitude. Careful attention need for setup but extremely well worth the effort. Really like this camera.

Best camera ever
The Sony a9 is hands down the best camera I have ever owned. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants instant and accurate focus on moving subjects. I am an avid bird photographer and after taking some time to program the custom settings on the a9, I am able to easily lock focus and capture a series of photos - all in focus - of birds in flight. I LOVE this camera.

Okay so, my reference point is that I used to own an A7III which already has an incredible AF system. Upgraded because I wanted the electronic shutter of the A9. With firmware 5.0 on the A9, the difference is that while the A7III can keep up with subjects (even running longjumpers coming straight at the camera) the A9 allows you to be specific, which is essential to successfully photographing team sports. Im really happy with this purchase. I was considering the a7iii but glad I went with the a9. The AF is really great! Dont be mistaken though, this wont make up for bad technique. Youll still need to apply proper photographic knowledge to get the most out of it. WOW especially with firmware 5
Really terrific sports and wildlife camera, I was saving for a second Canon 1DX2 body and this tool came on sale with a 1K rebate and I couldnt turn it down. Light easy to handle BEST focus tracking on the current market easy to adapt current lenses uses FAST cards huge buffer great to carry around.I would give it 10 stars if possible!

The Best Camera Ive Ever Worked With - A True Flagship
This camera blows my mind. I love being able to shoot frames like a high powered machine gun, ensuring that I get those perfect moments - never missing a kiss, those moments ion between blinking, any sort of action etc.. and Ive never had my camera blackout or buffer. Great addition to my A7rIII.
I am a wildlife and landscape photographer and needed a camera that had a bit faster AF for shooting birds in flight and the A9 meets or exceeded my expectations. There are few Youtube posts about using the A9 for wildlife so was taking a chance by purchasing this camera. The only other addition I need for my type of shooting is for Sony or a third party to release a lens in the 150-600, 200-600 or 60-600 in E-mount.

Spectacular Camera
I bought after living with an A7RIII and A7III for months. It does not disappoint. As a result, I have sold the A7III and will use the A9 for daily shooting, sports, action, and wildlife; the A7RIII will be primarily for portraits and landscape where extreme detail are required. With the upcoming firmware update, the Sony Alpha (wolves?) will maintain their position at the top of the camera food chain! Eye AF is absolutely stunning and will be even better with the new firmware!

a9 rocks
I shoot portrait, wedding, and nature and I love this camera. I actually moved from a7riii to a9. I just liked how it handled images better. Focus is so fast!

Beast in a Small Package - My main Surf Photography Body
I have the A7 III and was waiting on the rumored new announcements. However, when Sony dropped the price on this - I could not hesitate. This works amazingly with the Sigma MC-11 and 500mm. It will reach 20fps if you let up on the autofocus and has to be hitting 10-12 even with continuous. superb for wildlife
I mainly shoot Canon 1dx2 with 400mm, 500mm and 600mm for many years. Now I got Sony A9 and after I used a few days, my jaws dropped wow amazing AF system and completely silent. I love it. Not too shabby
This camera is very much like any other Sony third generation body with the exception of the technology centered around the sensor. This is a great camera for sports. It's Amazing. That said, if you do not shoot fast athletes or animals, there's is absolutely no reason to get this camera over The A7III or A7RIII. None. The speed of this camera is overkill for anything else. If you are a sports shooter like I am, the extra money is worth it and you won't have any buyer's remorse.

The higher quality YouTube reviews of this camera are spot on. I really liked my A7Rii, but had my eyes on the new A7iii. However, I have recently been wanting to take more images of things that moved rapidly and in all kinds of lighting. Sony A9
My initial experiences with this camera are all positive. The fast frame rate is amazing. I have to remember to step it down when I do not need it since it fires so fast. The lack of blackout is phenomenal along with silent shutter. I have not experienced any major focusing issues with the complete array of G Master lenses I own. I highly recommend this camera, It does the job it's supposed to do and the recent substantial price reduction is what made me finally decide to pull the trigger.
