Easy to operate but why not a wider angle ?
The built quality is good. The image stabiliser functions perfectly . The zoom ring is tempered but precise once you get accustomed to it. The electronic servo zoom may surprise if you are accustomed to manual or ENG zooms. You can switch quickly from manual to autofocus on the ring without to have to send your hand elsewhere. Your hand can remain operational on the lens. I am very surprised by one reviewvers who says that the zoom cannnot be serviced or dismounted by the Sony aftersale service. I have called Sony and talk to an technician. It appears that this information is not correct.

Holds up well on the big screen
I reviewed this product a year ago, this is an update. While I use the camera for daily jobs, I also used the FS7 to shoot a feature film (Providence). I shot in 4K CINE-EI SLOG3 exclusively, with a 4 person crew. We screened it in a state of the art theater and I was 100% happy with the color and resolution of the image. On a whim we submitted the film to AMC Independent, were accepted and it is slated for a Valentines day weekend release in theaters around the country. If that isn't an endorsement of what the camera is capable of even in my semi talented hands, I don't know what is!

Best Video Lens for A7s
First, I want to thank all those negative reviews. I picked up a mint returned copy for a reduced price. This stought/compact lens is a beauty and easily outperforms the 28-70 Nikkor that is almost as big and heavy with an adapter. The controls are located and work very well. Switches replace A7s menu items. Although this lens AutoFocuses exceptionally well on a FS7, I believe it was designed for the FullFrame A7s where it is more than wide enough for my use. I really like the feature where you pull back on the focus ring to lock it into manual focus if needed while shooting.

Great to have handgrip, BUT...
First impression - wow. Great pictures quality, easy to use and learn, especially if you came from any other Sony's camcorder. However, and I hope you already know that, be ready to spend a LOT for the extra stuff. Today I discovered that I need spend an extra cash in order to be able... guess what - put my camera on the tripod. To make story short - there is no way to slide the camera on/off the Manfrotto 502HD video head without removing FS7's handgrip. Here is a short video explaining the problem: ---------------. Otherwise, I love the camera.

After a few months, not worth it
I understand why SONY made this. But I will get right to the point...I don't like it because:1) it is very odd in its response. This lens is frustrating. It begins zooming late and ends the zoom late. It isn't sensitive. if you are making reality TV or Doc's with it, don't - the lens isn't nearly wide enough. If you are making cinema with it, see #2:2) it is soft. The images are soft. Period.#1 would be bearable, but #2 really is the deal breaker for me. $ - great deal. But for what? Im selling mine and buying something different.

Best camera for the money
Slomotion features are amazing, slog3 offers huge dynamic range and with sony's codec you get a 10 bit file that uses very little card/drive space. The ergonomics are amazing. You are able to use custom LUTs and use LUTS you download online (MLUTS). The one thing I dislike from this camera is the complexity of it's features and how you take very long navigating the menus to turn on certain aspects of codec/framrate and colorspace in order to be able to use certain features (like 180 fps slomo, Slog3 and LUTS), It's time-consuming.

Fantastic video lens for the a7s
I'm surprised the first few reviews for this lens aren't good. This lens is awesome if you've been using photography lenses for the last 5 years. Also, if you pair it with an a7s, you get basically a 28-200 zoom range. The guy who said it's not sharp is just plain wrong. It's very sharp. The stabilization is great, the focus ring has a great feel with a long throw, and having a de-clicked aperture ring is great too. If you want to see me demonstrate the lens, you can view my review here: ----------------------------

Unacceptably Slow Zoom
It's a great concept for a lens, but on my FS7 the zoom is unusable. After you release the zoom rocker, it continues zooming for nearly a full second!! Using the ring or controller on the lens itself, the lens responds better but still operates at 25% the speed of a true servo zoom that I typically using when shooting reality TV. The lens feels sturdy and smooth but in a true run and gun environment it won't cut it in my book. This lens may be a better companion on a full frame camera vs a S35 sensor.

So far so good
Havent finished testing but so far so good. Very sharp videos but I dont have any 4k monitors yet to see them on, just using HD now, even stills look great. Love the smooth zoom and I got a Sony RM-VPR1 remote but the remotes zoom isnt as linear or smooth as the lenss and its kind of a weak clamp. Might get the RM1BP but its a LANC remote so not sure how that will work with the adapter and its expensive. Wish Sony would make a good remote thats as good as the zoom in this lens

Great camera for cinematography first steps
I purchased this camera to have a tool able to film both corporate and short film productions. For the corporate needs, this is an amazing camera to work with. Looks professional, is professional. For the short film production at first I was a bit concerned about how it performs with low light. But then, customizing the gamma and camera's noise reduction I was able to reach very satisfying result. Outstanding results, considering the price range.

fantastic slow manual focus
I don't have the luxury to switch a few prime lenses, this has 95% of the focal length I need... and most important to me was slow smooth focus pulls... modern focus by wire still camera lenses just don't do it... Also the step-less aperture ring is nice to be able to gradually adjust exposure ... so happy with this lens... probably shouldn't mention here :) but since it's been out a few years you can pick up a mint condition one for under $1,700

Great camera, versatile
One of the best cameras to come out in a while as far as specs+pricing. It will take you about two days to get familiar with all of the menu options - but once you get the hang of it, you're hooked. The new firmware (3.0) gets rid of the slow/delayed menu and adds interval recording for some easy to set up timelapses. I highly recommend this camera for people transitioning from DSLRs and for people who want internal 4K, slo-mo and a great image.

Freaking Awesome Lens!
I've gone back and forth on getting this lens over the past couple of years and finally got it and I'm super happy with it. I'm a bit more into video than photography and for video I love it. Since I got it it's been the only lens I've been using. In addition to being a great overall lens during the day it's also wickedly great in low light! I just with Sony would make a whole line of these lens in more focal lengths.

I know it is heavy complicated lens but it is true magic !!
My secretweapon is this lens - Several high endvideo producers has all said my work is of Cinematicquality. I have Sony A7rm11 and this Lens ... It is used most days in very trying conditions and it has not missed a beat or a shot..the Zoom is so amazing, the image quality with the right camera settings for the locations is even more amazing..It takes time to learn this lens and to feel it ..so try it out ..

It's great!
It's a great camera whatever the design or image quality. I could say it's the best camera in this price range. qualityless 60fps 4K recording. It allows user switch the mode between Cine and Custom, u get a small F5 when you turn it to Cine mode. However, the firmware is the main issue. Always having problem of displaying histogram and wave. Hope it will be fixed via future upgrade.

great for video/4K ok for stills
i love this lens on cameras like the FS7 although it is a little tight on the wide end, coverage is a dream on FF but for stills on high resolving (A7rII) bodies it is a little lacking....i would still prefer it to the 24-70 f4 which looks digital to me...the new 24-70 2.8 GM is a much better solution for stills.... for video work i love the size, handling, reach....everything....

The C300 destroyer
180 FPS, optional raw output - around 14 stops dynamic range - 2000 native ISO - weighs almost nothing, batteries last a very long time - s log 3 and sgamut.cine. How could you hate this camera? I shot a short film with it - Charlie Chicken, Canine Artist - I love the camera. If you don't get it well that's your fault. Cause I can't wait to own it.

FE PZ 28-135// f/4 G OSS lens on the field
I'm using this amazing Sony lens for a few weeks and I'm very impressed with the quality of the glasses and exterior finishing. The functionality is great, smooth and quiet zoom is perfect. This is now my standard lens for my 4K videos, and now I'm ordering from B&H a polarizer lens to make even better blue skies. I recommend guys. Best regards

Dude, Im amazed with this camera!
This camera does everything, the image quality is beautiful, i love shooting on Slog 2 and Slog 3. Slow motion is stunning. I have an FS7 mark 2 as well, and let me tell you something: the improvements were just all right, now with these two cameras I feel I can conquer the world... at least with these range of prices.

AFFORDABLE CINEMATIC TOOL
This is an affordable cinematic tool that delivers stunning images for the big screen effortlessly, S-log 3 gives very flat images that can be artistically painted to any imagined pictures .Even on a 35mm cinema screen, your images remain as seen in the studio. For me ,its a preferred choice to Arri Alexa...........

Superb imagery
The FS7 is by far the best camera I have owned and I have owned a lot. Great images, easy to use especially in cineEI mode. On the down side, the ergonomics are a little awkward, the XQD cards and Sony batteries are over priced and the menu system needs some work. Overall though a great camera for all occasions.

Great Camera
You can't get much more bang for your buck! This is a great 4K camera. Exellent dynamic range when shooting outside. A little grainy in low light while filming in S-Log, but all in all pretty good. Sony fixed most of the erganomic issues of the FS-700 with this camera. Still a few kinks to work out though.

Great camera!
Sony got it right on this camera. It takes some getting used to due to Sonys vast menus. But over all this camera is a great camera. It looks amazing and is quite affordable. You should get the extension unit and of course you will need a lens adaptor but over all I love this camera.

weak mount
Like others, I take serious issue with the quality of the mount. It easily broke off. Sony does not repair this. They also charge $135 to tell you they won't repair it. At least other manufacturers modify their standard mounts for these heavier setups. I'm beyond angry with Sony.
