Great cinema camera
Sony hit a home run when they designed this camera. The controls are well laid out , picture quality is great. And the build other than the viewfinder is rock solid. It is flexible enough to handle just about any video cinema needs, and the fact that you can go directly to cards with 4:2:2 4K video is superb. The downside to this camera is the menu system which takes a awhile to go thru using the controls on the side of the camera. It might have ... Show More

Love that this lens exists, though I have some minor gripes
Great for sony's full sensor cameras, though awkward for hand-held shooting cause of it's weight. Lacking on the wide end of the zoom if using it on a smaller sensor cam. It's great to have a full-range cine lens with a focus ring that can be fully manual or AF (by sliding the ring forward or back) in this price range. Riding focus when in full-manual is a dream. The zoom is pretty laggy, which I don't love but I sorta got used to. Still it's eas... Show More

Amazing lens BUT impossible to hand hold
lets start by optical quality - great. no issues here. BUT if you hand hold it like me, a frequent traveler WITHOUT a tripod there are 2 huge issues: 1) the location of the tripod foot prevents you using the foot for support while on the same time reaching the zoom slider. it is Impossible to reach the zoom even with very long fingers like mine. 2) removing the collar leaves you with a hugely HEAVY lens and while you can finally reach the zoom sl... Great Camera
I've had this Camera for a little over a week now and I'm loving it. I moved up from using a 5d Mkiii primarily and can say that it wasn't as difficult as I was imagining. I have used plenty of other higher end cameras before so that also helped. I've been doing a lot of location shooting as well as interview setups and some creative projects on the side. I've been shooting indoors and outdoors and love the versatility of this camera. The built i... Show More

Am liking this camera now I have gotten to know it
Now after owning this camera for over 2-3 months I am really getting to know it and am getting much more consistent results I can now say its a great camera and highly recommend it. I would make 2 recommendations when buying this camera. 1. Buy/Hire the best lenses you can afford. Due to the high resolution of this camera you will restrict it with low resolution lenses. Xenon FF, Zeiss CP2 primes, Zeiss CZ2 Zooms or some of the higher end Canon r... Show More

Awesome image & bigger than I thought
Brilliant camera! I love it as a great all around tool. It is much heavier than my c100 so I wouldn't think about using my glidecam with this beast. then again... maybe. The high speed is so great. I love it. Comparing the image side-by-side with my c100 I find them very similar in resolution to detail in the image, even in UHD.I give this 4 stars because the noise issues they need to fix with their high speed image. I dislike the fact that 2000 ... Show More

Simply Incredible
So there I was, about five seconds away from pre ordering the Ursa Mini 4.6k and something inside me told me to hold off. I saved a little more money and purchased the Sony FS7 instead. Best decision I've ever made. This camera is absolutely incredible. Cine EI finally gives me the proper non-yellow skin tones I've been waiting for from a Sony camera. 10-Bit color, 60 fps in 4k, 180 fps in HD, and built in LUTS. What more could I want with a came... Drifting zoom, lanc and ergonomic issues
I use this lens with an FS700 and a7s. Mostly bought it to give my FS700 a live ENG ability with a servo zoom. The glass is great, no complaints there. My issues are mostly ergonomic. The zoom slider (wouldn't call it a rocker) is at a strange location on the left side of the lens. I'm accustomed to focussing and irising simultaneously with my left hand and zooming with my right. Just odd, will take a great bit of muscle memory rememorying. The z... Show More

Versatile and utilitarian for video
This lens is sharp across the frame, manual zoom is quick enough for crash zoom effects, and stabilization when attached to an 7S or S II body is rock solid. Coming from the other E mount lenses, I found the size and weight intimidating at first but soon I learned to appreciate the added stability, controls, even fly by the wire focus, which is slightly delayed, and the end effect is worth it. Bokeh is not harsh, although not buttery smooth eithe... Show More

a real wonder
use with sony FS700R sony a7 I just purchased this lens despite sometimes mixed reviews. I mostly shoot sport and action in slog2 4k to prores HD. This lens is the dream come true. the focus is precise and the sharpness is fantastic. The auto iris expose the slog 2 perfectly I used before the 18/200 f3,5 -6,3 and there is no comparaison possible in terms of quality. I cannot confirm in any point the issue of the zoom continuing zooming while the ... Show More

Sony hits the bullseye
Last year, this was the camera I was waiting for, and it was well worth the wait. PROS: good ergonomics and balance with the XDCA unit and an Anton Bauer style battery. Great multifunctional handgrip. And a user friendly cinema mode that shoots excellent 10 bit SLog3. It's a nice image to grade, but looks good out of the box. CONS: it shipped with a bit of a weak lens mount and a few early software bugs - nothing dangerous, merely annoying - when... Show More

Great value hybrid cinematic lens
For those who will be using the Sony 28-135mm Lens, most will find it great. The power zoom is awesome, especially for those who have only been using photography lenses. As is, the zoom is ok. You CAN creep the zoom, by buying the remote control VCT-VPR1 (and throw away the flimsy tripod it comes with), and for some reason, the zoom is quicker when operated from this particular remote (there is a switch on the remote to enable/disable slow speed)... I didnt believe that this camcorder is available in india for demo in this Broadcast Show. Video quality is amazing in 4k and Full HD. In 128Gb QXD you can record 20 min in 4k 600mbps means 4:2:2 Bit rate RGB is extremely amazing. I spend 2 Hours with this camcorder every day and in three ... Show More

Makes the A7SII great for run and gun work
Previously was relying on the Canon 24-105mm with metabones adapter for run and gun work but started having issues with losing control of the aperture in the middle of a shot and then there's the issue of light loss at the tele end. I decided to give this a try and it's worth it so far. I appreciate the extra throw on the long end and having the step-less iris is great for adjusting in the middle of a shot. Manual focusing is easier because the f... Show More

AMAZING CAMERA!!
IM very happy with my FS7. The colors are great in Slog3! A few drawbacks are the odd remote handle, this thing just seems like an afterthought but I guess its better than having to buy an arm in addition. The cord that plugs the monitor into the camera is not well thought out either. What do I do when it breaks? Sony obviously did this as forced failer. No big deal I will just connect my 7 inch monitor by hdmi once this happens. I have used this... Show More

Fantastic.
I waited until a year after this camera was released to purchase it. I really wanted to see if it would live up to the hype. I can safely say, it does. This is the most excellent video camera I have ever used. The image is gorgeous, the specs are amazing, and overall performance is top notch. There is a very steep learning curve if you're planning on shooting in Custom mode, and I highly recommend renting Doug Jensen's FS7 Masterclass. It's the m... Show More

Is the FS7 worth the money?
Back in the fall of 2015 I bit the bullet and upgraded from my old faithful C100 to the Fs7. I myself do allot of commercial and narrative work and needed something that I could quickly set up and shoot with. I must say I am very impressed with this camera and with S-log3 I have plenty of latitude while grading in post. The image is superb but can be noisy at times, especially in the shadows. The menus before firmware 3.0 were honestly sluggish b... Show More

Powerfull tool for Cinematography
I have been using this camera for the last 5 months for the educational filming and short films. Despite it is somewhat slow and servo zoom and auto focus works funny, I like the camera. Good camera - Horrible Viewfinder
The camera works quite well, but the viewfinder came loose on the 1st day of its first job. The clam that holds the viewfinder to the rod came loose. 2 issues: 1 - It's not a thumb screw so you'll need a tool to loosen it (Nice for being on set with producer staring at you) and 2: The screw STRIPPED straight away (See photo) I've come to expect more from Sony than this. Now I get to do the runaround with BH where they will most likely force me to... Show More

Great All in One Camera (Doc & Narrative)
We purchased this camera early this year and I have got to say I love it. We make documentaries and need to be comfortable shooting all day; which this camera solves. It also allows us to make more commercial narrative content without much of a trade off. We were using all Canons (C100, C300) before; but I'm loving this. I do like the Canon sensor and colors better; but the ergonomics of this camera are worth the trade off. The Sony Codec is a bi... Show More

We owned 3 of these lenses, unfortunately, in the real world of film making, sometimes equipement break. 2 of our 28-135mm mount broke (one was dropped by accident and the other one broke during transport) Sony Services center won't offer any repairs claiming that the technology used in the lens won't allow such a simple piece to be repaired. Right camera, wrong sensor/lens mount
At first I thought that this might be the camera I have been waiting for. On further inspection I was disappointed to see that they abandoned the time tested pro power zoom lenses in B4 or PH mounts. SLR type lens mounts that are spring held are fine for short slr lenses but will not support big power zoom lenses. These need a breech locking mount common on all the old ENG style cameras.Smaller sensors on those cameras also gave them considerable... Show More

I came from a C100 mark 2 (still like Canon Cine cameras) and the Sony is really impressive. I will say there is some learning curve and some very deep menus to master. It's worth it though. My Least Used Lens
It's somewhat ironic that my most expensive lens (this one) is actually the one I use the least. Why? 1. It's large and heavy, so inconvenient to lug around 2. 28mm is not wide enough on short end, and in the middle ranges, I think some of my other lenses look better. 3. There just haven't been many situations (yet) where I needing anything over, say 70mm. It's not a terrible lens. I do like lenses with autofocus, so that you can push to focus to get a nice, quick, accurate focus. I just think that in hindsight I probably would have used the money for something else, knowing what I know now.
