Super point and shoot
I'm a working professional and I've got more camera systems than you can shake stick at, from 4x5s to Dslrs. I recently purchased a Pen F in an attempt to get useable quality in a lightweight package. I use it on quick hikes and family outings when I don't want to carry a lot of stuff. The pen lends itself to the fast primes and that is what I use almost exclusively with it. Here's my impression after about three months use. The image quality is ... Show More

Takes full advantage of the m43 format
After years of toting full-frame outfits, I wanted a camera outfit that wasn't so heavy. I say outfit because the weight of the body by itself is irrelevant unless you know a way to take pictures without using lenses. I tried a Fuji, and with the lenses I wanted, the savings in size and weight were not enough to justify buying another system. Didn't like the electronic viewfinder either. I was very wary of the small m43 sensor but honestly, wi... Show More

Very nice
After all these years, we're finally getting a high quality digital camera outfit that's genuinely small and light. It won't replace a full frame SLR but when you can't carry that much and still need an assortment of very sharp lenses that fit in a small bag, you can't beat the Pen. In good light, I find the quality the same as APS. In low light, APS has less noise, but the Fuji's electronic viewfinder drove me crazy. I never thought I'd make pea... Show More

Wonderful Camera
Purchased as an alternative travel camera over lugging around my heavier, bulkier Canon Pro dSLR equipment. Had looked at other Olympus models and the Fuji XT-1. Decided I wanted a different sort of camera smaller and light and different from the typically looking dSLR camera. Definitely an awesome size and weight for travel. It is so easy and convenient as I only have to carry just two lens; the 17-40mm f2.8 as the general purpose lens and 40-15... Show More

Very pleased, but with 2 reservations
Like so many reviewers, I wanted something versatile, yet much lighter than my full frame SLRs. The Fujis seemed ideal but for some reason, I could not adjust to their electronic viewfinders. And when I added up the weight of the lenses, it was the same as a small SLR. I tried the Pen and quickly got used to the viewfinder which is almost as nice as an optical viewfinder, yet with all the advantages of an EVF. Of course the camera isn't a rangefi... Show More

A Little Jewel that Works!
As a longtime Olympus Pen user (E-P2 and E-P5), I took me a while to bite the bullet and go for the Pen-F. The Pen-F had all the features I wanted save one - unlike the older Pens with their separate viewfinders, the Pen-F with its fixed finder does not allow for waist-level viewing, something my aging knees appreciate. With my E-P5 getting long in the tooth (60,000 shutter actuations), it was time to upgrade. In a word, I love the camera. I... Show More

This is what it looks like when design and use come together
I'm giving it 5 Starts because this camera is everything you would expect and more. I cam down from a top of the line APS C body looking for a travel-light camera and was expecting it to have limitations. WRONG. This little camera is fantastic. I made a second big change and went with all Prime lenses. 17/1.8, 45/1.8 and 30/3.5Macro. This is the only way to go with such a beautiful body to take advantage of the small size. I now walk around with ... Show More

I loved the feel of my first Leica M3
Aesthetics and feel: The camera is wonderful; handles easily, even with my big (old) hands. The controls are well placed and almost instantly adapted to for people who have experience with other recent Olympus cameras -- menu, the same. I have used the body with pro lenses, the results are very good, also use it with a portable flash system for photographing insects and plants. Focusing speed and accuracy cant be faulted for any of my uses. The c... Show More

My phone takes better pictures
I am utterly disappointed with this camera. I was hoping to take good pictures worthy of being framed, clear and bright with great depth of color. What i get is grainy, blurry pictures that aren't worthy of a facebook post. Often the auto-focus doesn't, so about 30% of pictures I take get deleted. The focus is slow and inaccurate at best, and I have to try repeatedly to make sure it is picking the right target. The low-light performance is abysma... Show More

Love it so far
I recently bought this camera from B&H to use as an alternative to the much larger Canon gear I had been carrying around every day for several years. So far I can say that it has been a real pleasure to use it on a daily basis. The image quality is phenomenal, it is reliable, and it is easy to use. I read a lot of reviews on it and there seem to be a lot of complaints on the Olympus menu system, but I found that it is very easy to use for me and ... Show More

Feature-packed and fun!
I bought this as an upgrade from my E-M5 mk 1. I wanted the wifi and new exposure options, but after reading reviews, became very interested in the creative features. I quickly came to like the monochrome creative dial setting -- its easy to set up. The number of other creative options is almost overwhelming, and it will take me a while to get them set up the way I want. The viewfinder is great - I'm a right-eye shooter, so ymmv. Great Style, Quality and Performance...
The Pen-F is very nice camera! I'm primarily a jpeg shooter and the front dial, controlling film styles, is really inviting for me to use. The viewfinder is the perfect magnification to see the full frame, as I wear eyeglasses. The body is comfortable and secure to hold, I have the optional ECG-4 hand grip which helps when using larger lenses like the 12-40 Zuiko Pro. I really like the ease of using the dials, especially the (new to Olympus) EV c... Show More

I love this little Jewel
I had countless cameras for the past 50 years, including film cameras but never loved any camera as much as I love this beautiful, functional, excellent little Jewell. I have other Olympus cameras as well such as 2 Olympus E-M1 bodies which are also excellent, but I never fell in love with any of them as much as I am with this camera. The 20MP image quality is outstanding, the images are razor sharp with my pro lenses. The HiRes mode produced me ... Show More

...a very nice street/personal camera!
If you are looking for a feature rich street/personal camera then the Pen-F should be a candidate. You'll be able to shoot excellent portraits and landscapes with the very fine Olympus f1.8 primes. Add a good tripod and you can take advantage of the Hi-Res facility that will allow you to take 80MP RAW and 50MP JPEG photos with very good image quality. Olympus invites you to try your hand at dailing in some fun JPEG art photos. Shoot in RAW + supe... Show More

Just a Wonderful camera
Im not going to say nothing technical, except that the camera has more resolution and image quality than I need and that I dont use the art filters. During film years I used an Olympus OM1, an OM2n, an OM4T a Leica M6 and my favorite of all, a Leica M4 that my father gave to me when I graduated as an electrical engineer, which I still have. I started digital photography with an Olympus E1 and then most Oly cameras, some Canons and some Nikons. Le... Show More

Nice little camera and I just love the looks of it and how it feels in my hands--can access all controls without taking my eye away from the viewfinder Pictures are great but I did find one flaw with the B&W--when I use the red filter I have to use editing software to get the noise out of the sky other wise I am pleased with this camera Yes to me it is a keeper. Designed to go wrong!
This camera seems designed by engineers totally out of touch with human beings in the real world. Though I have 53 years of camera experience and though this is at least my 20th Digital Camera, I have constantly gotten into trouble that I cannot get out. I now have a choice of seemingly 50 Art Effects, all f which distort the true image and I find myself unable to get out of this mess. Even a member of the Olympus staff had to seek help and call ... Nice but not a home run.
Much of what has been said about this new camera is true, both good and bad. Leica killer NOT but for $1200 pretty nice. Build quality is superb, a pleasure to hold and quite nice to shoot with even without the optional grip. Down side, slow auto focusing, menus are a mess, battery life is very poor. An hour and a half of street shooting without screen needed a battery change. The special effects knob on the front is cute but out of place on a re... Show More

A fun camera
I'm a Nikon user and this is my 1st MFT camera from any manufacturer and deciding between the Fuji xt2, Sony a7, and the Olympus omd lines. I'm happy that I decided on the pen f. It's light and compact, yet well built. I really like the retro look. It's fairly easy to use out of the box. The color is soothing. The various on camera art filters make it a fun camera to use at parties and friend and family gatherings. I had used it at a Jul 4th BBQ,... Show More

Excellent MFT Camera but somewhat pricey
The retro look is lovely without sacrificing handling. This camera is a joy to hold and carry around. It's light, as you would expect of from a MFT camera and shoots excellent images. Autofocus is snappy and there is hardly any shutter lag. The one reviewer who said he might switch to the Fuji Xpro 2 because of the better autofocus is in for a disappointment. What really sets this apart from other MFT cameras in the past is the upgraded sensor. T... Show More

A Digital Camera with Soul
This little camera has really rekindled the photobug in me. I want to take it everywhere. With the tiny Olympus lenses(the 12, 25 45mm primes in my case), you'll have a very lightweight kit that provides superb images. I plan to add the Oly 75mm soon. I don't see using a big zoom on the Pen F without an optional add on grip. This camera works best with prime lenses IMO. YMMV. I have used the color wheel more than I thought I would mainly for th... Great Design, Great Images
I love the design of this camera because it reminds me of an old Leica IIIf film camera , but with all the advancements of digital. I especially like having the ability to use my old Leica M-mount lenses (with an adapter) and having an incredible 5-stop image stabilization. That means I can handhold a Leica 135mm lens (270mm equivalent) at 1/8 second and get amazingly sharp images. I shoot mainly RAW, and I haven't used the creative dial modes ex... Show More

It's A Joy To Use and To Look At
I purchased this camera to replace an Olympus E-P5 camera that I enjoyed using and get excellent results from, but could tolerate the bulky add-on viewfinder. This camera supplements my E-M1 which I enjoy using with the Olympus Pro line zoom lenses. The Pen-F will be matched with my fixed focal length Olympus/Panasonic lenses, for a more causal shooting experience and a lower profile for street photography. The high res mode is amazing, but being... Show More
