Good value in a long zoom lens for Micro 4/3 cameras.

Feb 23, 2017

This is a fairly sharp lens once you get it focused. As others have noticed there is a tendency to hunt for the right focus point, once it finds it, it is very sharp, provided you keep your shutter speed up. It is important to keep your shutter speed up, from my experience at least 1/200 of a second or higher. This lens works best in full daylight, not as forgiving in early mornings, evenings, or, dark overcast days. I definitely recommend you us... Show More

Long reach, light weight

Feb 22, 2017

Good lens for the price. Best for stable subjects in good light. Image stabilization works well. I was looking for this kind of reach in a small package. This lens fit the bill for me. Not for everyone.

Very good lens for a good price

Jan 13, 2017

I am more than pleased with this lens; coupled with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera the image stabilization allows handheld shots with the lens at 300mm. Sharpness is good over the full range of the lens. A very good addition to my other Olympus lenses. I now cover the range from 9mm wide angle till 300mm tele in 3 lenses (9-18mm, 14-150mm, 75-300mm)

Good lens.

Reasonably sharp for the price. Using it when I don't want to carry my CANON 100-400mm with Metabones adapter. Not a Pro lens, but a very good value.

I would not purchase again.

Nov 21, 2016

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this lens. I am an experienced photographer utilizing Canon and Olympus cameras. I paired this with the EM5 MkII. I shoot a lot of action and wildlife. I already have the Olympus 12-40 F2.8 Pro lens and the 40-150 F2.8 Pro lens with converter, as well as some prime lens. In Canon I am shooting with all their Pro L series lens. I say this because I unfortunately am comparing it to those lens which have sup... Show More

Wanted to be able to reach out even farther than with the 14-150 (35mm equivalent 28-300) for bird and other wildlife photography. Have been quite pleased with the results so far.

BEST SUPER TELEPHOTO LENS

Aug 12, 2016

As an Advanced Amateur/Hobbyist, this is by far the best Super Telephoto Lens I have used. I mainly shoot Wildlife. The reach you get is as great as or greater than Canon's 100-400mm L. The price and quality with Olympus Products allows one to achieve semi-to-professional pictures. Not to mention the smaller size and less weight than the big guns of other manufacturers. Glad I switched.

Great lens for long distance capture

Aug 1, 2016

I purchased this lens to take photographs of aircraft either landing or departing from my local airport. I previously purchased the 40-150mm f2.8 Olympus lens, but, wanted the extra distance capture and did not want to purchase the Olympus 1.4 multiplier because it would not extend the lens the millimeter range I wanted. When purchasing this lens, I would recommend the following: a B&W 58mm Xs Pro Clear MRC, the Olympus Lh-61e lens hood, and, bec... Show More

A winner!

Jul 23, 2016

Fantastic lens! I have owned it for just a few weeks and love it. About the size of a can of pop, lightweight and easy to handle on my OMD EM1. Others have noted a softening at the 300mm mark, and I would agree. But what I win in reach outweighs this imperfection. A delight to use. One of the most affordable super zooms ever!

Amazing lens for no bigger than it is

Jul 20, 2016

I just had a chance to try the lens out this past weekend at a botanical garden near me. There was a special cactus that only blooms once a year and I was there, each one was about 20' from me, as that is a close as you could get to them and the 300mm setting really brought them in for some nice pictures. One thing that you have to be aware of is the f stop on this lens at 300mm is only 6.7 so watch you have a high enough iso so you can stay at 1/500 of a second or the pictures will blur or if the iso is too high the pictures will be grainy.

Great lens

Jun 3, 2016

Great lens. Need to understand that it is a long reach and not a fast lens. Use high shutter speed and plenty of good light. Shot it handheld with no blurs at 650 and above shutter speed. Keeps up with my Sigma 150-600C on 5D III.

Must have Lens!!!!

Outstanding lens that covers the near to far shots. The ability to reach out and capture images close up without compromising quality, then this is the lens that is a must have in your camera bag.

Excellent Lens for the Money

Used on Olympus OM-D E-M10 II. I use this lens for birds, animals, and moon shots. It is lightweight and easy to use. Only complaint is it does not come with a hood!

Good reach, kinda slow

May 1, 2016

Build quality seems good as does image quality. Small given the focal length but given a 600mm effective focal length need a steady hand, tripod or a good bit of light for a fast shutter for maximum sharpness. Sensor based image stabilization helps if you got it but 600 can be just hard to keep steady. I generally use to take pictures of things rather than people, like the effect of compressing space.

Great for wildlife

Apr 6, 2016

I purchased this for my wife to use with her OM-D E-M5 mark I (she wanted to do more wildlife photography). Even with the older version of image stabilization within the body, she can handhold this lens at 300mm just fine. She absolutely loves it and it's now the lens that tends to stay on the camera by default. I took the lens for a spin as well, and I have to say it's pretty solid for the price point. It's not a pro lens, and it's not weather-s... Show More

Disappointed

Mar 21, 2016

I had hoped that this lens would be a longer reach alternative to the Olympus 40-150 lens that I've been trying to use for wildlife. On the plus side this lens is lightweight for the reach, is a nice size match to the E-M1 that I'm using, and usually focuses quickly and reliably on that camera even at 300mm. On the negative side, it's just not that sharp over most of its range. My copy was only acceptably sharp at around 250mm. It's soft at 300mm... Show More

Fabulous range in Light Weight Lens

Mar 9, 2016

I have a Canon 7D with a Canon 300mm f4 L lens and 1.4 extender. I have used this combination for bird photography. I recently bought the Olympus OMD EM5 and the 75-300 mm II lens. This combination is so much easier to hand hold and the image quality is excellent.

A little jewel

Mar 8, 2016

I use this on may Olympus OM-D E-M5II camera and to tell the truth I was completely surprised at the clarity this lens produces. It is slightly heavier than I expected but good glass weighs a little more. I am a bird photographer and I need the reach this produces on this 4/3rd camera. I wish I had known this sooner. It is a superb lens and deserves the 5 stars I gave it.

Good Lens - Disappointed with Attachments

Jan 15, 2016

The lens itself is great and I have no complaints about the lens, but I wasn't aware that the lens doesn't come with a lens hood and you have to pay extra for that. One would think spending $ on a lens it would come with a lens hood.
