Good quality mic for a ridiculously low price
So many people make the mistake of thinking a camera mic is fine for everything. It's not. When you get your camera far enough away from your interview subject for a wider view, unless your subject is wearing a lavalier mic (or has another mic that's closer to them), their audio is going to lose presence and become overshadowed by the location's ambient sound. Your video will not have that pro sound. If you're trying to do narration/interviews on... Show More

Much worse than built-in microphone.
This microphone was a major disappointment. I bought two, and I checked both batteries but neither mike seemed to be useful at all because the gain is so tiny, it was barely clear that they were turned on. The built-in mike on my iphone6 worked considerably better, even at a distance of 15-20 feet. When I plugged these mikes directly into my Canon D70, the sound was not nearly as good as the built-in mike. I'm sending one back to B&H for a refund... Show More

Great Mic for the Price
As a high school broadcast teacher for the last 26 years, I can not tell you how valuable this mic is. For the price, it meets all our needs. The long cord is sometimes a challenge to keep from tangling, but it is so advantageous to have the flexibility in the field of not having to be physically close to the subject every time you do an interview. The small batteries last a long time, and for sound bites and even long interviews, the audio quali... Show More

Not ready for prime time
I bought this mic to record VOs and on-cameras for web instructional videos. My grant budget is limited, and I'd read some good reviews of this unit, so I jumped on it. The audio quality is much better than the built-in mic on my Panasonic HCV750. BUT I get a loud hum in the signal when using the DC adapter or if the battery housing isn't dangling freely -- I could work around that. But there is some very subtle background noise I can't get rid o... Show More

Cheap and decent, but know it's weaknesses
First of all, this thing is dirt cheap, but you need to understand it's limitations. It can be pretty good for the price, and I've used them for a couple of years in different ways. It is not balanced, so you can get noise from electrical interference. For instance, I've used them effectively when plugged into XLR inputs on video cameras (you have to use a cheap 3.5mm to XLR adapter), but only when the camera is operating on battery. If the camer... Show More

Good Microphone for the Price
I have used this microphone in the past to record audio on a Sony Handycam. I am using it to have production assistants record interviews, so it is an easy setup for them and they don't have to deal with wireless components. A couple of downsides are having a long cord stretched out to trip on as well as production assistants forgetting to turn the power off after each use and running down batteries. Still, it serves the purpose I am using it for. Microphone clip is cheaply made. Broke the first time I tried to attach it to the microphone so be careful! Have spare clips.

For $bucks, what to expect really ?
I'm using this mike plugged into my Garmin VIRB action cam (to avoid the wind noise). The result isn't good, this mike, even when shielded from wind still deliver miserable sound compared to a simple wired mike I was using with a DRIFT camera. The wire is long and cumbersome and the battery powered interface is even clumsier (that freaking battery gives unacceptable interruption even when it is still fairly fresh). What you save in initial cost you'll lose buying batteries. All in all I lost $ $. Buy something better from the get-go and save yourself the aggravation.

Great for the price
A fantastic step up from using an in-camera microphone. I bought the mic to record speeches. I wear the mic and plug it into my iPhone which is kept in my pocket, then later sync the audio to the video. It's does a fine job. The negative is that the plastic attachment meant to hold the mic onto the lapel clip broke off immidiately. The other small thing is that the foam wind screen falls off easily. All in all a good deal, though.

Very good value
I have several of these for students who use unbalanced audio input camcorders. The long cord is a great feature as many others have a 3 foot cord which then requires an extension cable for practical use and that is one more thing to get damaged. Audio quality is acceptable, especially considering the price. The only additional feature that would make it 5 stars is an LED battery indicator.

Your iPhone's mic works much better than this
Purchased this to avoid having a iPhone in the frame while shooting video, but the quality is so low that I end up using my iPhone in long distance since it still records in higher quality comparing this mic. I also tried it with a pre-Amp/Compressor to amplify the tone. But still the result was terrible. If you own a iPhone you better off purchasing this mic and use your iPhone instead.

Much more than expected
It is an interesting option to take a step forward in the direction of improving the poor audio built into the cameras. It is reliable, the sound really good catch. Obviously not replace professional mics with similar characteristics, but it is a suitable solution to move to a more suitable sound management. I think it's very well built and that price you get much more than expected.

A mixed bag
The mic work great for the most part. I've used it several times with my iPad or iPhone and have gotten good sound quality out of it. On the flip side, it's rather cheaply made. It was broken out of the box (the on/off switch was just floating in the box). And the first time I tried to get the microphone to attach to the clip it broke. So I had to return it for a replacement.

Great product at a great price!
This was recommended to me by a friend who teaches audio/video when I asked about quality audio devices. It hasn't let me down. The cord is EXTREMELY long, so there's no worry about how far away the speaker is from the camera. And if, for some crazy reason, the speaker is farther away, you can always plug the mic into a smartphone and record that way.

Okay At Best
These lavaliers are very iffy. For us, they cut in and out and the first time one of my students used one--it broke. We ordered another pair because A) We needed one because it broke B) We were recommended the product and I thought it was a fluke. We have two of these now and one works excellent and the other is awful =0( Overall, it's okay at best.

Picks up interference
I purchased this mic for simple video interviews. Almost immediately after purchase, I noticed the mic picked up a buzz through some sort of electrical interference. The same buzz was present when plugged directly into my dslr camera, and H4n recorder. The buzz is so bad, it's pretty much rendered the mic useless. I guess you get what you pay for!

Solid overall lavaliere microphone for smartphones
Sound quality is good. it's powered by a battery, which allows us to use it with our DLSRs (our Nikon D600 requires a powered mic), though I'd recommend you pick up a few extra batteries just in case. Not sure how easy that type is to find around town. It's great to have a long cable, but this cable might be too long. It gets tangled very easily.

The included TRS to TRRS smart phone adapter is worth $20 alone.
The included TRS to TRRS smart phone adapter is worth $20 alone; and it works unlike the popular Rode versions. My only recommendations are to buy a sturdy earbud case, keep the cheap and unbalanced 3.5mm cable from binding and buy backup windscreens. If you're capturing bad audio with this device - its you're fault not the microphones.

A good mic
This is a decent lavaliere microphone, and an excellent value. It is sensitive, and will let you capture intelligible dialog. It simply does the job. It may not be as pristine as a high dollar mic, but those who need better, will buy better. For my video trail-side chats it will work great.

Surprisingly good
For a cheap lavalier, it's surprisingly good. Compared to using the built in microphones from a camcorder, this is a huge upgrade. It's not studio quality, but for basic stuff, the price and performance can't be beat. It's wired, so it does limit walking around, but the wire is really long.

Just what I was looking for
Just what I needed. A respectable quality lav microphone to add professional quality audio to talking head iPad and iPhone recordings. It sounds great and fills the bill perfectly, and at a very attractive price. The fact that it is from a respected manufacturer is a bonus.

Good for the price
I bought this to use as a backup mic. The sound quality is okay. For the price, it's hard to complain. If you're using it for youtube videos, or other small scale projects, it will work great. If it's a higher scale production, spring for a more expensive mic.

Didn't really solve the problem
We were looking for a microphone to help with videos we create using an iPad when travelling to trade shows. These didn't really improve clarity the speaker over background noise or really make much of a difference in a quiet location. Disappointing.

get something else
This hasn't worked well since day one. Maybe I got a defective one but I would recommend getting a different lav altogether instead. Both the mic and adapter had issues. Not even worth stating them. Spend a little more and get something good.

Excellent product for good quality sound.
Good product. Just plug into DLSR Camera and attach to your shirt with the clip. Works well for recording voice. You can hear the voice very well and there's enough cord to use. You can use this product for DLSR Camera and Smart Phone. :)
