This and the Sennheisser MD46 are the only, two directional dynamic mics from major manufacturers. The Sen sounds warmer, but has an open cardioid pattern. AT BP4001 is more resistant to ambient and handling-noise, but making it so makes it too wide for most mic-flag-square foams. It is also heavy, but the Sen is heavier- and requires grip-adjusting over time- which causes handling noise- so if you have enough room in your bag for this big mic with big windscreen to cover the open head, the BP4001 may suit you. Price may also be a consideration to get it.

Great for interviewing in Noisy location
We do many location shoots and often have to do interviews in noisy settings, and this mic allows us to get clear audio, even in the most difficult of areas.
