Best Pocket Camera Period
If you are serious about always having a camera with you, you value IQ and you enjoy video this is THE camera. It is worth every penny. I just returned from spending a month on a very small and dusty island in Greece. The camera never left my front pocket (no case or anything) and the images are better than what my son's big name consumer DSLR delivered within the same limited focal lengths. This is by no means a super zoom or even a portrait zoo... Show More

Top of line pocketable camera
Can't get any better in pocketable camera. Great image quality from the 1sensor. Menu system somewhat scattershot. Would be better with longer end zoom.

I love it!
It goes with me for the occasions when it is not sensible to carry my much larger and heavier Nikon D800. Now I have a camera where ever I go.

Works as promised.
This is a very good, high quality pocket camera that takes excellent pictures. That being said, it's not a full-frame DSLR, nor can it function easily in manual mode. The EVF, while functional, isn't as large as it should be, but then again, this is a pocket camera with a lot of features crammed in for the price. It does what it's supposed to do. This is a backup camera, one you keep in your hip pocket while traveling, or in your camera bag if yo... Show More

Small Package, DSLR Capability
This camera does exactly what I need it to do. Travels well and produces excellent images. The built-in viewfinder is terrific.

The best pocket camera for sure
I have the RX100I, which was great and Sony RX100III is even greater. It's a little bit more expensive than con-generic products, but it's worth it!

I'm liking this one - Thanks, Sony!
Look for my review of the RX100m2. This version is better, in my opinion, except for the changes in lens design do 2 things I don't like as much: A The wider aspect is less POV Friendly if that makes sense. The m2 had a certain perfect focal length to it that made its wide end perfect for 1st person views of, say, walking in forest, driving POV, and for aerial work. While it is not bad per se, I find to get the same vibe I have to zoom in a littl... Show More

Very nice
Great images, excellent resolution, excellent for existing light shots and as a walking around camera. Ability to save in RAW format is wonderful. Good battery life, nice feel. Very fast response time. Press the shutter and there is no delay. It is like in the old days with film cameras. Like all small cameras flash output is OK but not great, but that is not what this camera is for. Try it, you'll like it

Need Bigger Zoom
The camera appears to work fine. I wanted a camera that operated in low light, which this does. I also needed a bigger zoom so I returned the camera. It it wasn't for the zoom issue I was satisfied with the camera.

First Impressions are excellent
Such a great little camera. Packs a mighty punch into a small body, offers great features that other cameras this size cannot rival. Once you get used to the controls and ergonomics, (which doesn't take long) you can shoot in multiple styles, including from the hip, Hasselblad style at the waist, like a rangefinder, on the ground (with the swivel LCD screen this is incredibly easy), even selfies. Image quality is really great. Lens and depth of f... Show More

Great camera
Had to replace a Nikon J1 compact (which was ruined when dropped in water), and bought the DSC-RX100. Really happy with a lightweight camera with great capabilities in a small box. High quality Zeiss lens is a big selling point.Use my iPhone for quickie pics but this camera offers the quality you want when you go beyond that but do not want a DSLR because of size or cost.Very happy.

RX100 III is the best-ever pocket camera
By adding a viewfinder to the already-great RX100 I & II, Sony has created the world's best pocket camera, the RX100 version III (M3). I'm getting amazingly sharp shots handheld at 1/15th second, great for blurring moving water while freezing the non-moving rocks. RX100 M3's great 20-megapixel sensor and sharp lens resolve more detail than my former 12mp Nikon D5000 DSLR camera using kit lens at ISO 200 to 800. The RX100 M3's only rival, the new ... Show More

Amazing performance from a
I originally bought this to bring to concerts I don't have a photo pass for and it has become my everyday carry-around camera. Amazing low light performance for something so small. And the ability to shoot in RAW allows for a lot of headroom with post-processing.A few small gripes - I wish the camera didn't fully power down when closing the Electronic Viewfinder. And I wish the focal length was just a bit longer (like RX100m2). Although, the wide... Show More

Small but powerfull
I use this camera for travel, because of its size. For studio shooting I use my Canon Mark III, but for the travel it is too much to carrry heavy chunky camera with lenses unless I have a specific project to work on. The Sony DSC-RX100 III is an amazing camera because of its size. That small camera can take incredible photos, almost comparable to big DSLRs and high quality HD video. It is in my opinion gets as close to perfect camera as possible.... Show More

Exremely happy, it is amazing
I use it mainly for short trips or places that I may go to and don't want to lug a big camera. It replaced 2 other compact cameras that I have and it has the best features of both cameras plus quite a bit more it seems the features are endless, and yes the quality of the pics are very good and the videos are tremendous for such a compact camera. But you would that what you paid for the camera that they would include the grip instead of having it as a option

Great photos, fiddly controls
Lightweight with great resolution. Viewfinder collapses if it hits my glasses and controls very complicated, especially that it takes several keystrokes to find and move the flexible focus point. I use it when I do not want to carry a heavy SLR: urban, walks, street photography. The camera is a battery hog.

RX100 III
Very pleased with performance of RX100 III. Only drawback is complicated selection of settings which for most part must be made from pull-down menus. Camera seems to be a little sensitive to noise as ISO is increased.

Nice little camera
I just purchased this camera and am happy with the quality of the pictures. However, I'm not as happy with the zoom range of the camera. I thought it wouldn't bother me, but after using the camera I have found this disappointing, I am also not enjoying th viewfinder. I find it annoying to have to pull it out all the time. That aside, the pictures are sharp, and the colors are beautiful.

Almost a DSLR, tons of features
Great picture quality, fast focusing, great video quality, but not a camera to buy and use on a vacation without learning the camera. Battery life is short, so spares are needed. Has a pop up viewfinder.

Is this a disposable camera?
I've been a photographer since 1972; I own many cameras (some of them SONY) and bought the RX-100 in June 2013. For no reason I am aware of, one day in February 2014 I experienced the first major malfunction requiring factory warranty service, replacing the Mounted C.Board CD-847(S), whatever that is. A brief search on the internet shows I'm not alone as others have had the same repair. In September 2014 the exact same malfunction has occurred ag... Show More

Excellent but with a caveat or two
It is an excellent camera for what it is. But, they should not have removed the hot shoe and they should have at least a mic input for external audio, especially when one of the major selling points is the video. It is also a bit on the high side for price.

Wonderful Camera
This is an excellent camera that is very easy to use. The Sony menus are clear and very intuitive. Photos and AVCHD videos are great. The camera is a bit heavy but its made of high quality aluminum and not some cheap plastic. I love the built in EVF it works great in bright sunshine when the LCD is difficult to see. The zoom is a little short, i would have preferred a 10X zoom. The camera is expensive but its worth it. The large sensor makes all the difference in photo quality. I have a micro HDMI cable and i view all my photos and videos directly on my 50 HDTV and the quality is fantastic.

Great P&S
I bought the Sony RX100 Mark III to take on a trip to Disney World to be a convenient option and supplement to my DSLR. I am extremely pleased with this cameras versatility. My main subjects were the family but I used the Sony for a few landscape shots and I was pleasantly surprised. Shooting during the day, I was able to capture some sharp action ... Show More
