Amazing Performance
The Sony Alpha a9 full-frame mirrorless camera delivers on performance. I'm fairly new to "hands-on" photography (i.e., not just point and shoot) so I am still figuring out all the bells and whistles. Most of the reviews I have read on this camera are accurate. I agree, the menus can be a little confusing, but in general, intuition can get you to the settings you are looking for.

The Best Mirrorless DSLR
Been shooting for 30 years I go back to film days and the Nikon F. Technology has come a long ways mostly for the better. I have had Nikon / Cannon / Hassblad for those that remember the 2 1/4 quarter days. Great features like 20 frames continuous shooting and ISO numbers that are incredible The new Sony A9 is the best camera I have used in many years. I was a Cannon fan and a friend convinced me to try Sony. I dumped all my Cannon... Show More

Amazing camera! Awesome results with both the Canon 70-200 f2.8 and 100-400 with Metabones V adaptor.

The Sony A9 is just AWESOME
The Sony A9 is one of the best cameras I've ever owned...period. In 30 years of photography I've never seen a camera react so quickly and accurately to everything I've tried with it so far. The focusing system is astounding, fast, deliberate, and perfect every time. Subject tracking is excellent, facial recognition is slightly better than the previous A7S/R II's, and the light meter is extremely accurate. Eye focus is good, though it does strugg... Show More

EVF/LCD monitor malfunction
The camera was working satisfactorily until I noticed the EVF and LCD monitor were not functioning properly. Right now, I can only shoot pictures using the EVF and If I had to shoot using the LCD monitor, I have to tilt it so I can see my subject. I also have the original Sony Alpha a7r and this one still working perfectly.

A+ for A9
Loving it, settings is great to reach to it. Able to view my pic through the screen is just great. Enjoy playing with it and taking pictures. Thank You Sony.

Sony's home run"
I have been a long-time professional Canon owner and bought the A7R2 as a replacement for one of my Canon 5Ds. I was so blown away by the A7R2 that I finally decided to switch entirely to Sony with the new A9 replacing my 1DSMk2. The A9 is an amazing camera on many levels but its most appealing feature for me as an action shooter is the ability to see a continuous image in the viewfinder while doing action pans. No more brief dipping to black as ... Show More

THIS IS THE BEST CAMERA, WOW #1
I've had this camera for about four months now and to keep it simple and sweet. I'm 100% happy with this camera and i'm thinking about getting one more. Yes it's that good.

Best Camera I have ever owned.
I bought an a9 primarily for sports and motorsports, and find myself using it for more than that. It is such an amazingly powerful camera, AF is incredibly fast even with adapted lenses, IQ is incredible and the Silent Mode is great for working in environments that you want silence. It truly is silent. Best camera I have ever owned, and I have had a few.

The A9 is a DSLR-Killer
I bought the Sony A9 to replace a seldom used A7ii, and as a companion to a much used A7Rii. After two weeks, the A7Rii may be the spare, despite its many fine qualities. The A9 is easy to use, and nothing gets in your way. The high shooting speed and quick AF are everything Sony promised. It is also nice to discover bonbons in its operation not otherwise promoted. It is ready to shoot after about a second from a cold start, even quicker to wake ... Show More

Great camera except....
I love the autofocus, customization. and frame rate on this new body but can't figure out why Sony did not increase the battery life more especially since this is a new battery design. Also seems like they designed the grip around the battery and didn't pay much attention to ergonomics. They would rather sell you $120 grip extension.

Fantastic camera
I have shot Canon since 1973 and I am 69 years old. I was shooting with a Canon 5D mark lll all L glass. It was getting too heaving and I needed to make a change and Sony was leading the pack in mirrorless. I have been using it for less than three weeks and I can not be more pleased. The set up was pretty simple and the biggest plus for me is incredible fast focusing. I still like Canon but I have had three shoulder surgeries in the past year and had to make a switch to a lighter camera. I am very pleased with my Sony a 9 and would recommend it highly.

Game Changer
Always been a Canon guy--not anymore. This camera and all its functions have blown me away. I'm shooting darting and diving birds at 50-75 yards with 100-400mm lens and they are tack sharp at full crop. I,also, own the Sony A7RII. Both are phenomenal. I just hope Sony improves their customer service and repair capabilities to rival Canon and Nikon.

The vastly improved (over A7R2) is worth the cost for me. Very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend.

INSANE SPEED WITH NO BLACK OUT!!!
As a Sony Artisan of Imagery and adventure sport photographer, I have been waiting patiently for this camera to be released. I was in need of a faster camera... one that could shoot more frames per second. Well, Sony delivered! Not only am I blown away by the 20 frames-per-second RAW capability with almost no buffer, but the fact the camera will do this with NO shutter black out, is unbelievable!!! In other words, as you're shooting stills and lo... Show More

Wow
The camera came in the day before Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I took over 2000 photos at the event when the temperature was in the high 90's. I LOVE IT. No heating problems and absolutely delighted with the photos.

Great camera for wildlife
The first mirrorless camera that can keep up with wildlife. As a long time Nikon user I've had a bit of a learning curve but it has been worth it. A silent shutter is the future of wildlife photography. It has allowed me to make photos that a regular shutter sound would have scarred off. Sure would be nice if Nikon would do the same. They still have a better selection of lenses. Do you really need 20 shots per second? Sometimes you do. But it can... Show More

A new standard for mirrorless cameras.
I was hoping the A9 would impress me and it went above and beyond. I shoot a lot of family events with about 20 people in constant motion. The speed of the camera is outstanding but I was surprised at how the speed of the autofocus system was improved. I rarely miss a shot to poor focus anymore. Love the change adding a dial to the upper left for focus mode and drive mode. Makes if that much quicker to set up changing shots. The new battery reall... Show More

A Perfect Balance of Form and Function
The ergonomics, image quality, and functionality of this camera are unparalleled. Naturally, different cameras work best for different applications, so there is no single best camera body. However, the a9 has incredible still and video capabilities, whether you shoot landscapes, portraits, sports, or nature. Paired with the GM series lenses, it's a phenomenal system.
