Excellent Travel/Street Companion
If you're looking for a GX8 successor with many of the G9 features in a rangefinder body, this ain't it. It's pretty clear this is more a GX85 upgrade in the tradition of the GX7. It's called the GX7 mark iii in Japan, BTW. I've mostly shot 16mp Olympus bodies and I'd say the IQ is improved. A little better resolution, a little better dynamic range, a little better high iso performance. AFS feels faster and seems more accurate than any of the cda... Show More

Upgrading my Gx7 to the new Gx9
I have enjoyed my Gx7 for the last 3 years ,a 16 mega pixel small ,good performance and easy to handle camera.I was looking for an upgrade and the Gx9 seems like a very good one, after 2 weeks : 20 mega pixel, more natural colors(mainly green and skeen tone),sharper images, more accurate AF,faster burst rate(better sports pictures for exanple),softer shutter, much better stabilization system which results in sharper still pictures and much smooth... my impression of the Lumix DC-GX9 after 6 months
I bought this camera as an upgrade from GX7 and it definitely does the job in every aspect. It produces sharper images ,better colors and the vidio is much better thanks to the image stabilization (works well with the lens stabilizer). The operation is very functional with the excellent menue and the touch flipping screen which is very useful . The EVF is slightly too small as in the GX7 but very sharp.I bought the eye cap and it helps especially w... Show More

Nice small mirrorless camera
This is my first ICL mirrorless camera. I have a Canon 70D and wanted a smaller camera system for travel. I purchased the Tamron 14-150 lens along with a 7artisans 7.5mm wide angle fisheye lens. I have experimented with the camera for about 2 weeks. Actually the first camera that was sent had a problem with the EVF and had to be replaced. Nonetheless I was not disappointed in the size of the system. There is a considerable size and weight di... Show More

Excellent camera for the size and price
I've been testing copy of this camera on loan to me from Panasonic ahead of the initial release, and I love it. It's not perfect, but I have never met a perfect camera. Specifications and hardware features aside, the camera feels solid, handles nicely and is intuitive enough that I don't have to go through a sharp learning curve when coming from a Canon pro-level body. The images are sharper than I would have expected from a 20MP MFT sensor, and... Show More

a really nice travel camera
Having gotten tired of carrying my Canon 70D with its larger lens on my travels, I purchased the Lumix DC-GX9 along with a Tamron 14-150 (28 to 300 mm equivalent) lens and a 7artisans 7.5 fish eye (15mm equivalent). Pixels are equivalent in the Canon and Lumix but the weight and size to carry around are so much better. I use the LowePro Edge Slingshot 250 AW. It handles the camera, two lenses, a small tripod and miscellaneous accessories easily. ... Show More

good M4/3 camera
Most importantly the output is good, I shoot raw and like the results with Lightroom edits. If you want just jpegs, from what I can see, they look pretty good. Pros: image quality. Light and inconspicuous making it good for street (my main reason to buy it). I like the screen articulation which is good for street. It doesnt fully articulate out but I like this. EVF is a pro and con-- I wanted an EVF and I like that it can be moved upwards, but th... Show More

This camera does not make a real 8Mb 4K Photo, as advertised
When I try to make a 4K Photo, the size of outgoing 4K picture is no more than 2 Mb. The MP4 file I have recorded using any from three 4K mode is too small, no more than 80 Mb. So, even, if I shot very fast such one second, for one second camera recorded 30 frames with a total size 80 Mb...it's easy arithmetic. The menu for 4K Photo in GX9 does not have any options to change the 4K Photo size, comparing to G9 menu. Any my attempts to ask a Panaso... Show More

The Perfect M43 Camera
I love this camera. This is the reason I moved to M43 from Nikon years ago. I got so tired of lugging around a big camera and long lens when I hiked or went out photographing. This camera does everything right, the buttons are all in the right place, especially the exposure compensation dial and the on/off switch. Its the perfect size for (my hands) with a nice, solid feel and the grip isnt too large, just right. Its the goldilocks camera for me.... Show More

Should be 4.5 stars
I bought this as a travel kit, not being satisfied with my EM10Mk2 for various reasons. Mostly I love it. I do wish the screen either flipped out or up, and a bit of weather resistance would be nice. Im also not one of those folks who gets all upset at having to carry an extra battery. Buy the eyecup if you wear glasses. Makes a pleasant difference for the EVF. I havent explored the video aspect, as Im largely a stills shooter. Its not the e... Show More

First Impression - Big Features In Small Package
I have owned the GX7 and GX8 and I just received the GX9. I wanted a smaller 4k camera for street shooting and the GX9 is about the same size as the GX7. For discreet shooting I prefer this tilt up viewfinder to a swing-out articulated viewfinder. GX8 owners will be disappointed that It doesn't have the weather sealing and a mic input, but for my purposes I was willing to give up those features for the smaller size. Maybe Panasonic should have gi... Show More

Great Camera+Lens With Poor Instruction Manual
I love the camera because of the great images that it produces, its tremendous functional capabilities, its size and weight. I was able to produce good but simple photos right out of the box because of many years of digital photography experience. Getting familiar with the camera's intricacies is, however, a different story. The manual not as good as required for it to be generally understandable. I have spent many hours ferreting out how to invo... Show More

Great add on to my bag
I have a Olympus OMD 1 with a half a dozen pro lenses I needed a backup with 4K video capability. In the few weeks Ive been using the GX9 it has become the body I use the most. The software on the camera is easy to figure out much easier than the Olympus. The lens that came with it is not the best I dont even take it with me as I have the Olympus pro lenses when I just want to be carrying something thats in a small package I use the Panasonic 14-... Small but feature-filled
I spent a long time trying to decide between this DC-GX9 and the G85. In the end, I went with the GX9 and I'm glad I did. I really like the big sensor and all the new features. And the small size and light weight tipped the balance for me. I recognize the drawbacks, but I have an LX100 and I was able to use the charger from that camera and the spare battery to make up for the lack of a bigger battery. So far, the tilting touchscreen has been OK, ... Show More

As expected
It focuses fast enough - faster than my X-T2 - and the colors are better than Fuji (in JPEG). It is light weight, the screen is clear and the viewfinder (some have complained) is very good. Missing? A weather resistant body and a better handle. For the price, no complaints. I have had no issues photographing on the streets or under relatively low light. The 12-60 lens is not a 2.0 but it is light, it is as sharp as any lens with this zoom could be throughout the zoom. As usual, excellent service from B&H.

Great service for good camera
I am an owner of a GH3 and four Panasonic lenses. I wanted a lighter weight camera for travel, and this GX9 is it!!! Took other lenses with the GX9 on trip, but the 12-60 mm was just fine for all shooting! BIG PROBLEM...I could not transfer photos to Lightroom using my RAW shots. BH guys were the only ones who gave me the proper info to update Classic Lightroom with Adobe people. Everything is fine now, but I realized I needed an extra battery. Thank you so much once again, BH!!!

WOW!
What a great surprise after getting into the menu to find this " EX. Tele Conv." With one, make that two, flicks of the switch my Lumix 14-140mm becomes a 59-602mm, in 35mm. Holy moly you'd think that would be one heck of feature! Who knows, who cares! Love this combo but took a loss on the kit lens tradein. You'd think after ten years of making this m/43 system Panasonic would offer a body only. Also battery life sucks so I got a spare and charger, only complaint. Super camera.

Great camera
I love the look of the files from this camera. I don't see me using a micro 4/3 for portraits, but it is great for macro, landscapes and street photography. I won't use it much past iso 800. There is a bit of noise. I have full frame Nikons for my portrait and low light shoots, but I am seriously going to check out Panasonic's full frame mirrorless. This camera paired with Panasonic/leica glass is wonderful.

Excellent 4/3 design
Just received a few days ago and put it though about 150 pictures and some video recording. The control layout is far better than my GX85 that it is replacing, and the picture and video quality is really good for an M4/3 camera - with the same lens, it is indistinguishable from my G9's pictures.

Great choice!
This camera is a great choice if you're looking for a small, lightweight mirrorless platform. I also have a GH5, and the images from this camera are just as good (although not as many video options as the GH5 of course). Perfect for a photog on the run or one who needs to travel light!

This is my first mirrorless camera after a decade of using Nikon crop DSLRs for my amateur photo and video. I'm really impressed by this little guy. Fast focusing, impressive image quality, superb ergonomics and fantastic video quality - all I was looking for is in it.

Compact and capable.
The GX9 has the buttons and wheels in the right place. Put a good lens on it and it will reward you with sharp, well-exposed shots. My GX9 has worn everything from 7mm to the 100 - 400 and handled well with all of them. Good body and I highly recommend it.

An updated GX85 with pretty much same IQ and 4k...
I looked for an improvement in IQ due to the 20MP sensor (comparing to the old 16MP), but I cant see any in practical use. It is a great camera all right but, if 4k is not important, one perhaps can be equally OK with the GX-85.
