If you could only use one lens
Only the APS-C format can deliver something like this, a wide-angle to telephoto. The 35mm equivalent for this lens is 27-202.5 mm. It's slow (f/3.5 to f/5.6), but today's incredibly high ISO's make it not so big a deal. The bokeh is surprisingly good, too. This lens is pretty much all you need 99.9% of the time, except for photographers who delve into ultrawide or super-telephoto. And finally, this lens is small, compared to old-school 70-200mm ... Fantastic quality for the size and price
This is a very good lens for the size and price. Stopped down it is consistently sharp throughout its very useful zoom range and the color and contrast are respectable. The focusing speed is acceptable. The size is excellent. With an A6xxx camera it makes a very small and useful travel kit that takes solid pictures in good light. You do need to understand its limitations though. It is a small aperture super zoom. You shouldn't expect decent perfo... Show More

Light & Compact
It is very light & compact. My Sony A7ii camera can switch to APS-C, in order to properly utilize this lens. It is equivalent to a 27mm to 202.5mm lens on a 35mm camera. I'm very pleased with the image quality.

I really like this lens
I was looking for a general walkabout lens. There are some out there with a greater zoom range (200 vs 135), but they are not this sharp and I know that they aren't this small and lightweight. I have now retired my 18-55 and 55-210.

a new review after a year of use
I thought that this was the perfect lens until I tried to do some long-exposure shots of the stars and learned that the lens - at least MY lens - does not know what infinity means. Instead of stars (and of course star trails) I ended up with hundreds of photos shot over several hours that all looked like water droplets on the lens. I have done night sky photography for years with a number of cameras and never had anything like this happen before.... Show More

Fantastic purchase for the mon
I got this lens because I wanted a single lens to take around for architectural and travel photography. It's sharp from edge to edge and has a wonderful range. I worried about this vs the 18-200, but, since I don't do videos, this was clearly the best option. Great purchase, and it's lightened up what I carry when I'm out and about.

Best walkabout
After taking 3 lenses on a vacation with my A5100 the obvious happened.. dust on the sensor. Switching lenses outside in the wind is bad, no matter how careful and quick you are. End result.. 1024 extremely sharp and low distortion photos that all required healing. After (extremely careful) removal of dust from the sensor using one of the many cheap hand air blowing things, and a self promise never to change a lens outside again, I bought this ... Show More

Took it on vacation, perfect lens
I tried to take the most minimal camera kit I could take on a recent vacation to San Francisco and Napa. This was a such a nice choice. It was easy to pull the camera out of the bag, quick to zoom and focus as needed. It covered so many great shots from wide angles on the bay to interesting landscapes with out of focus close or far elements. Very happy with this choice!

Does the Job
I like my Sony alpha 6000 for its portability but found it inconvenient that there was no overlap between the two lenses, so I purchased this one. Just what I needed. It's a lightweight lens so the portability wasn't affected. I also bought a filter kit that includes polarizer, UV, and ND filters, thus far have only used the polarizer; glad I got it.

Great lens, I am happy with it
A great lens if you want to be very mobile with just one lens attached to the body. A must be carried if you plan to travel with a A6000 or A64000

Big improvement
I havent been able to use the lens much yet; still recovering from hip replacement surgery so Im limited to photos of the cats, photos through the windows of the house, and product photos for the big auction site. Its much sharper than the 16-50 kit lens, and with better contrast too. Im selling my 16-50 on the big auction site now. I havent decided if Ill also sell my 55-210; Ive read in the forums that this lens at 135 then cropped will out-per... Show More

Decent Travel Lense
Bought this for an all around travel lense. The lense appears to be a quality lense for the price. However, at wider angles (maybe 18-20mm) the lense does not cover the full sensor which leaves you with an image with blank corners. The only correction to this appears to be to crop the photo.

Lovely for travel!
In my recent travel (Tourist way), Ive bought that Sony 18-135mm APS-C, I didnt regret one click. Light, powerful and wide enough, it was my leading lens my second one was a Sigma 30mm F1.4 if need it in low light. The quality from the 18-135mm was superb for my need. The OSS work very well, better then I expected! Yes, I recorded that Sony 18-135mm.

Sony E 18-135mm Great Lens (Love It)
I received my Sony E 18-135mm late yesterday afternoon. I have been looking at this lens since January of this year and also looking at the 16-70mm. I finally decided on the 18-135mm because of many reviews I read and the MTF chart. I am definitely happier about settling on the 18-135mm vs 16-70mm because of cost and zoom range. I like the size, weight and nice build / feel. I really like the resistance and smoothness when turning the zoom ring... Show More

Good but...overpriced
In the short time Ive had this lens Ive enjoyed using it and, in general, have been happy with its size, weight, performance for cost ratio. I purchased it after reading several reviews and watching a number of YouTube reviews so I had a good idea of its limitations. For example, strong corner vignetting at the 18mm setting. Im surprised Sony would produce a lens with this issue, seems like a problem lens makers have solved, and solved well, over... Show More

Great Utility Lens
I've been using the lens for a few months and I have really come to appreciate how versatile the lens is. The autofocus is fast, the OSS is wonderful, and the minimal focus distance make macro-esque photos. I find the lens extremely sharp at the longer focal lengths, especially in the center but the wide angle performance is a bit weak and corner sharpness is a bit weak. For the price it would have been nice to have constant aperture but it is what it is. Overall good walk-around lens but also bring a good prime!

great travel lens
Just came back from a two week European trip with this lens, a 12mm Samyang and an a6000. What a joy to use and the weight difference between my normal DSLR kit and this was unbelievable. Not a great performer in low light, but, if you know this, it is fantastic.

This light weight all around lens is perfect for travel and other everyday uses. I use it with an a6000 as a backup to my full frame DSLR. Highly recommended

As I am not considering to move to full frame this a great addition to the a6xxx series.all you need is this zoom , the 10-18mm and a fast prime and you are set.

Better than the 16-50
I bought this to replace the 16-50 kit lens that came with my Sony a6000. I thought the 16-50 was a pretty good lens for the price. It was very sharp at some apertures and most focal lengths, but pretty soft on the edges. Sharpness at the longest focal lengths was pretty soft. This lens (18-135) has performed well for me in the short time I have had it. It is much sharper throughout than the kit lens. I don't miss the power zoom because I prefer... Show More

Next travel with love!
I used to travel with 3 lenses (no zoom); no problem if you travel alone, but when the other person is waiting for you to move on ?because you change the lens often, is not a good situation for a plaisant trip. Thats the reason this 18-135mm is superb less time to foul around by changing lens, cleaning them, installing tripod to be stable, The 18-135mm is a superb stabilisation system (Some mention it is more stable then 18-105mm).
