Excellent!

Jan 8, 2017

I received my a99ii in early December and have been shooting with it since then. The main things I wanted in the a99ii was better low light performance, better AF performance and more coverage from the AF points. The a99ii has exceeded my expectation in these areas as well as nearly every other I could come up with. In low light I find I can shoot easily at 6400iso and even 12800 is quite usable. The AF performance is improved and the frame cover... Show More

Excellent upgrade

Jan 5, 2017

I've been using Minolta/Sony gear for around 30 years now. The new A99 II looks to be their best body in the old Minolta Maxxum mount. I bought it to use mostly for landscapes, architecture, anything that holds still. So far very impressed with it for these applications. Excellent resolution, nice colors, etc. Easy to learn for anyone familiar with Sony's A mount SLRs. The AF is very accurate and locks on very quickly - it still surprises me how ... Show More

AMAZING and Worth the Wait

Jan 4, 2017

I've been waiting for the a99 II release for what seemed like an eternity, but I'm so glad it's here and so excited that I have it in my hands. I am upgrading to the a99 II from my a77, which I loved. I just received it today and so far I absolutely LOVE it. It's super fast, awesome in low light and takes sharp images. The body of the camera fits really nice in my hands as well. Looking forward to getting out this weekend to take some shots at a wild life refuge.

A Must for Wildlife Photography

Jan 3, 2017

Any new camera is the greatest camera ever according to the manufacturer and the reviews it sponsors. Sony did a nice job with the A 77 ii. It's a decent mid- range camera but, lacked a couple of attributes: it's autofocus was a little slow and it's low light performance was below average. I was a little skeptical about the A 99 II claims. Not any more. My litmus test for wildlife shooting is flying eagles. The autofocus on this thing is absolute... Show More

Still too early to tell

Dec 30, 2016

I recently received an early Xmas present when my Sony A99M2 arrived. I am still in the process of digesting the user guide. My first perceptions - I really like that I can use my old minolta and alpha glass. AF works beautifully so far. However, per the guide if you use a third party lens, there are many more steps now - you must select Steadyshot to manual and according to the focal-length set using SteadyS. Focal Len. I haven't tried both yet ... Show More

Sony Alpha 99II

Dec 29, 2016

Took delivery of the A99II from B&H in early December. Been using an Alpha 77II. The full frame 42Mp chip is great! Nice upgrade from the APS-C chip in the A77II. Main use is for sunsets/sunrises and landscape. I use Manual mode and manual focus 99% of the time. Auto focus is very fast and reliable when used. Attached photos are handheld using P mode, auto focus, stabilization off, F7.1, 1/200 sec, ISO200. Two frames stitched in PhotoShop. Lenses is the Sony SAL1650. Location is the Spur Cross Ranch, Cave Creek, AZ. Love the camera and well worth the wait.

I have been a Sony Amount camera fan for years starting out with the A55 in 2010 since then I have owned an A77 and A99. This camera is the one for me! It has everything I want and need in a Sony Amount Camera. In low light it is excellent! Quick to focus! I love the different metering options! The eye focus is accurate and awesome to use! The file size is much larger and will fill up the memory card twice as fast, but the image quality is Excell... Show More

Worth every penny.

Dec 18, 2016

I purchased the A99II to replace my A77II for wildlife photography. The AF on the camera is very fast and accurate. The learning curve on the different settings will take some time but worth it. The SAL 70-400G2 is a great lens for this camera and this combo has been a joy to use.

A99II is the perfect camera for all uses. Seriously.

Dec 16, 2016

It is exactly the camera I wanted. It has lightning fast autofocus and an amazing number of frames per second AND the image quality is as good anything out there. Before this, I used the A77II for sports, but the image quality was not great, and my A7rII for everything else, which has better IQ, but is not good for sports. The A99II combines and adds to the best of both and is my perfect camera for all things. Also, I had my A-mount lenses, so I have no need for new investment in lenses.

Great for photo but NOT usable as a 4K video camera

Dec 16, 2016

I love this camera for photography. I've had great success shooting live event in low light. Auto Focus works great and even at higher ISOs the image is easily cleaned up. The Full frame sensor with more Megapixels allows more flexibility when cropping and getting more out of each picture. This camera is loaded with great features and programmable shortcuts and custom buttons. The autofocus is fast and images are sharp. The Image Stabilization is... Show More

Finally!

Dec 16, 2016

I pre-ordered very early. I just received it on December 5th and am still getting acquainted with it but the photos thus far are great. Still learning the ins and outs of the menus and buttons. I upgraded from an a65 but I also have an a7ii and RX100ii so there are menu similarities. I bought 2 lenses and am using some older full-frame lenses already in my possession. I am a hobbyist, not a professional.

12 FPS when E Mount/Canon/Nikon are still 5 FPS

Dec 10, 2016

The headline alone is enough to make this body worth your while if you like sports, action, or wildlife photography. Not to mention photographing children or events. Even if you don't, the 5-axis IBIS is pretty amazing here and works even better on A Mount bodies than E Mount mirrorless frames because of the physics of larger vs. smaller diameter mount sizes.
