Good camera for some people

Dec 9, 2016

I have to admit, sheepishly, that it was the gimmicky stuff that made me want to take a look at this camera. But how well does the Panasonic hold up in the field? Image Quality - Generally good in daylight and improved over the smaller 1/2.3 sensors. Edge sharpness and eye sharpness is good on nearby subjects. However, IQ seems to drop off noticeably as the distance between subject and camera increases, more so than expected. Photos are usually w... Show More

Absolute beast of a camera

Jul 19, 2019

I own a Panasonic G9 and a bunch of great glass, but hauling it around to parties, or on any trip less than an expedition was getting old. I decided it was time to give compacts a try again for the first time in many years. My priorities, in order of importance, were: - Image quality, resolution and sharpness - Large sensor and wide aperture for good DoF control and low-light performance - At least 50mm (equiv) on the long end - Decent video ca... Fantastic - loaded with features - good in low light - 4k

Dec 12, 2016

yes a fantastic ultra compact camera - loaded with features that cameras like the Canon G7X/m2 and Sony RX100/m2/m3/m4/m5 do not have - like 4k Burst Mode - to capture just that moment - the Post Focus mode - and Stacked Focus mode - The GX7/m2 do not have 4k - the Sony RX100m/4/5 have 4k but have serious overheating issues and overheat at 3-5min in warm weather - besides both have a Max 5min clip time - the LX10 has no overheating issues and 15m... Good image quality, but uninspiring and poor construction

Mar 20, 2018

I really wanted to love this camera, did a lot of research and decided this was my everyday carry - at least for awhile. Before this I was really excited for the Nikon DL series that never came to fruition or the more expensive Fuji X100 series so this seemed to be a good compromise. And it was, at least at first. Overall functionality and image quality is good for a compact shooter and it is certainly 'pocketable' unless you wear skinny jeans. ... Show More

Nice upgrade from the LX7 with a few Negatives

Jan 13, 2017

I've had the LX3,5 and 7 and every upgrade was a big improvement. It holds true for the LX10 with a few minor exceptions. Battery Life is definitely shorter, I'm getting almost 100 fewer shots per charge. But no big deal has I always have more than one battery. No External Battery Charger Included: This is a big pain, as you have to charge the battery while it is in the camera. So no charging of a back up battery while the camera is in use. Panas... First Impressions? AWESOME!

Mar 13, 2017

I purchased the LUMIX LX10 specifically as a travel camera. I conducted extensive research online, and probably read over a hundred reviews. I knew I had to work within a specific price range, and there were several must-have camera features on my list. I am not a professional photographer, but I know my way around the basics and I am fairly comfortable with composition, etc. I have only had the camera a couple of weeks, so my review will be base... Great Value

Feb 27, 2018

Like any camera, I need a few days to get to know it. I still do. It's my first Panasonic, I'm a canon guy. The camera is small but requires both hands to grasp it. But it is very comfortable in the hand and the screen works very well. The ring in lens is a great success to modify parameters. In general lines you can feel a very solid camera, except for the firing button (very small). The camera works very well and the AF is quite fast. The camer... Show More

Just what I needed

Oct 23, 2019

I have a ZS-100 which I love. Its just small enough to keep handy and I can capture anything I want with that super zoom as I slowly work my way up to being an ACTUSL photographer... or so I thought. My primary motivation for getting an advanced point and shoot is video. I have kids in sports and theater, new grandchildren... I want to get those great shots and clips to watch after they are grown. HOWEVER.. the smaller aperture of the superzoom ... Show More

READ THIS BEFORE PURCHASE!!!!!

Mar 22, 2018

I purchased this camera in August of 2017. When it arrived, I shot a few photos with it, as I viewed them on the display, they seemed to be fine. From that time until mid September, it was stored inside the case that came with it, which I had in my backpack. At that time I shot several photos with it. I didn't use it again until mid November when I shot several more with it. At the end of November, I downloaded all the images into Lightroom on my... Show More

Love the imagery, hate the settings...got quirks.

Jun 3, 2018

My vision is worsening in my old age. Either shoot with a used early Fuji x100 or this little gem - the LX-10. Working in bright sunlight - often my not-so meaty fingers have hit modes on the camera which I DONT want. I cant see some initially - in bright sunlight. Like going into 4K stills or trying to get out of it. Especially when my SD card is filling up on a March or at a Rally. Want my regular quality stills! Dont want to have to go throu... Show More

Great Line of Compact Cameras

Jun 22, 2018

I purchased the LX10 for underwater photography; it came highly recommended as Nauticam makes an underwater housing for the LX10. I wanted point and shoot capability with a large enough screen to see what I was going to photo/ video through the underwater housing with a Mask on my face while SCUBA diving. I originally purchased the LX3, but the underwater housing was no longer available for the LX3. Interesting note for unde... Show More

Ideal Compact for Travel

Jul 16, 2018

This is a great compact camera you can wear around your neck all day when traveling or just shooting for fun. However, I would recommend a sturdy case such as the leather MegaGear case (only half cover shown) in my attached photo. I bought this camera primarily to shoot in low light and from many angles, so the f/1.4 lens, the 1" sensor and the tilt LCD screen do the job nicely. This camera does not have a Live View Finder, which I miss... Show More

Really cool cam!

Nov 25, 2017

I have spent months researching the LX10 and similar competing cameras. I'm not a professional, I just needed a camera that takes better pictures than a smartphone. I do know the basics of aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. I really love the first pictures that I taken with the LX10, the first pics were from Intelligent Auto mode. However, I started using other modes like aperture-priority and manual. If you're a smartphone user looking to find a ... Show More

Amazing little camera...except for one thing

Sep 1, 2018

I've long been a believer in the LX line of Panasonic cameras, starting with the LX-3. I love what they've done to this descendant, for the most part. The manual aperture ring is a nice touch, though sometimes I do miss using the thumbwheel, like most normal 21st century cameras. The build quality is noticeably better than its sibling the GX850. I wish I could get LX10 quality with the interchangeable mount and 4/3 sensor on the GX850. ... Show More

Great camera, but a couple of disappointments

Mar 2, 2017

Based on my limited experience with the camera so far, it appears to be a very capable and high quality compact. I was choosing between the Nikon DL (until it was discontinued) and the Sony RX. The complaint in other reviews about short battery life is well-founded. That is not a deal-breaker for me - I bought a second battery and wall charger to help avoid any issues. I was very disappointed to learn after my purchase that it has no GPS capabili... Show More

The Perfect Backup

Feb 28, 2017

This is my new museum/concert/restaurant/backup camera. My ankle gun in case of emergencies, when my bigger interchangeable lens system locks up on me, runs out of juice or just isn't appropriate to lug somewhere. It takes a while to get used to the tight concentration of controls, but then it's as second-nature as the three LX models I've owned before this. I miss a viewfinder sometimes, and have literally stuck this in my eye without thinking, ... Show More

Good travel camera

Apr 8, 2019

I agree with all of the positive points others have mentioned and do like the camera. I did want to mention a few caveats that may concern some. The lens will eventually have dust particles inside the lens which cannot be removed; this could mean some faint dark spots on light colored sky. The back buttons are over sensitive. If your pictures start looking a weird blue, you have probably accidentally switched white balance to kelvin. The lens cov... Show More

Simple or complex, its up to you

Feb 15, 2019

I took this gem on a two week trip around Rajasthan, India and shot about 850 photos. Although I practiced with the camera before my trip, playing with the ISO, shutter speeds and f stops (incredible 1.4 lens), I found on my trip I did best to just leave it on the intelligent auto setting, and let the software do the work. It performed beautifully on many night shots. I am most impressed, especially with the built in panorama setting which stitch... Show More

Lumix LX10 not up to standard.

Dec 20, 2016

I have owned the Lumix LX3, the LX5 and the Lx7 and more recently the LX 100. All of these cameras were great for the price. So, when the LX10 came out with double the pixels I thought that is the way to go. What a dissapointment. The camera is light and cheap with a small lens - nothing like the beautiful Leica lens on the LX100. There is no external control for exposure like the LX 100. Best full-feature pocket camera

Dec 19, 2017

I had the Lumix for many years as my pocket camera that I always had on me and it was amazing. It took a beating too and always kept working. I replaced it with a Sony RX-100 with a much larger sensor and file size and amazing features, but found it to be delicate and the controls much less intuitive. It stopped working in 2 years. The Lumix LX10 has the sensor size, lens speed and features of the Sony RX100 series, but in a stronger body and more intuitive Lumix controls.

Remarkable little package

May 14, 2018

I still love my old LX7, but the LX10 doubles the resolution and grafts on many of the newest features in my DX2500. This makes it almost too complicated, but it's rescued by good touchscreen menus. The main disappointment, which came as a surprise in the fine print of the manual, is that digital (beyond optical) zoom is no longer enabled in RAW, only in JPEG; I've no idea why. A neckstrap should also have been included, not just a wriststrap.
