Excellent lens

Sep 6, 2017

Covers 22-44mm (35mm equiv) which is a great range for a zoom lens. That's the whole range for a medium wide-angle lens. Excellent sharpness and color edge to edge. Nice smooth functioning of zoom, focus, and aperture ring. Of course works perfectly with my E420. I would change one thing - the sun shade that comes with it causes vignetting at the widest angle setting. Doesn't show in the viewfinder but it ends up on the flash card.

Overlooked Lens

Jun 13, 2012

This is a very nice high-grade lens, albeit somewhat overlooked after the introduction of the 12-60mm high-grade lens. It is fast and has little distortion. I picked up a used copy to use with the scuba kit, but I also use it on hikes in the mountains in and around Tahoe.

In a class by itself!

Aug 25, 2011

This lens is a scene photographer's dream! A near ultra-wide to near standard field of view lens in one weather resistant relatively fast package. I'm amazed at the sharpness of small distant objects and lack of all the well known distortions in this lens. I use it with an E-5 body and I love how they work together. No other manufacturer offers an equivalent set of specs believe me I researched for months.

Great low light wide angle lens

Dec 23, 2010

I use this lens on my E-30, I almost got the 9-18mm (f4-5.6) lens but I prefer not to use flash when photographing evening/night/indoor events so I got this one. The lens works well in low light and I do not consider this lens to be loud when auto focussing as others have found.

Great lens that I would buy again

Nov 5, 2010

This is a great high grade lens for a reasonable price. It would be nice to have an f/2.8 throughout, but this feature is restricted to the super high grade Zuiko lenses. With my E-30 the lens is not too heavy or bulky and the camera/lens combo is very well balanced. The image quality is very good and I am very happy with this lens.

Great glass for the cash.

I think this is probably the best wide-angle you can get for the 4/3rds system without paying a bazillion dollars. Finding it used (refurbished) from B&H just made a good lens even better. It's pretty darn fast too, considering the price.

I used this lens on my last trip to Wyoming. It was perfect for getting the wide shots on landscapes. Great quality.

As most of my Olympus lenses amazing

Sep 13, 2010

Love the clarity, love the 2.8. The wide angle gives me the ability to shoot a larger area closer and make the shots more interesting. For shooting groups of people it is wonderful.

An Excellent Wide-Angle Lens

May 1, 2009

This lens is fantastic. I shoot a lot of cityscapes and buildings and it consistently gives me sharp images. The contrast is great too, and so I love using it in bright sunlight. The 11mm wide-angle is beautiful with virtually no barrel distortion. The lens is also lightweight and well built, being both dust and splash-proof. Auto focus is quick as well. I couldn't be happier with this purchase, and I highly recommend it to any Four-Thirds user.

Solid wide-angle

Dec 23, 2008

I bought this lens before the 9-18mm came out and the 7-14mm was too expensive. A lens worthy of the name Olympus: good sharpness and contrast, little barrel-distorsion at 11mm. I use it for architectural photography a lot and it does the job. Low flare in verry contrasty conditions like night-shots. After my 7-14mm comes in (from B+H) I will continue using it with a pol-filter. Cons: not realy, it is a bit heavy and it looks like a small tele, but that is the price to pay for real quality.

Sharp. More sharp at all apertures than 14-54 I have. Wide. So wide so you want to shoot at shorter focal length all you see. It became my regular instead of 14-54.

fantastic lens for quality and use

Feb 10, 2008

Quality of the lens is perfect. But the most important thing is the use. For tourism it is perfect. You can use it for 99% of situations (excluding 1% of times you need tele). Very specif for internal picts: ex. church, houses, etc.

Great, worth every penny

This lens is razor sharp, well built, and wonderfully bright. It rivals or surpasses the results of any of the Nikon super wides I've used in the past.and its weather sealed... Expertise: Pro Problems Encountered: None so far. Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Lots of Nikon pro gear Items I Recommend: E-1, or whatever pro body follows (e-3?)
