Love this camera!

Dec 30, 2019

I wanted to try a mirrorless camera and was also looking to lessen the weight. I didnt expect to be so impressed with the Olympus M1 Mark II. The image stabilization is remarkable and I would not want to have another camera without the live histogram. The options are just about limitless. I have raved about this camera so much that my husband just bought the same one.

Much to like and not like

Dec 30, 2019

There is much to like about the OMD EM-1.2, and there are many good reviews online that report on this. I will say some things I like about this camera at the end of the review.I will start off by highlighting some not so good things that has made my purchase bittersweet. Anyone who is considering purchasing one or has made a recent purchase should be aware of these issues. As for some background, this was an upgrade from the OMD EM10 I purchased... Show More

Outstanding Camera and Lens

Nov 13, 2019

I just switched from a Canon full frame camera and L Sreies and was afraid that I might suffer picture quality issues going to a Four thirds frame camera. I am very happy with my choice, less weight, smaller footprint and no picture degradation as far as I can tell. The largest prints I am making are 11x14 and O am delighted. Olympus hit a home run.

Very disappointed in Olympus

Oct 1, 2019

I have been an Olympus user for 15 years. I loved my E-1, so I was excited to upgrade to the OM-D E-M1II. I purchased the $4000 package from B&H, and I've owned it for only 16 months, and have put fewer than 1500 images through it. Over the weekend I was using it to capture video. On Friday, I shot about 12-15 video clips. On Saturday morning, I turned it on and began recording and found that it no longer recorded audio. I assumed that I had acci... Show More

Better fit for an old friend

Jul 26, 2019

I've owned the original Olympus OM-D E-M1, along with and E-M5, for 4 or 5 years. I'm retired and spend a lot of time doing nature photography as a hobby (don't retire without at least one). I have no complaint about either camera, except that the E-M1 always struck me as a little too small for my hands. So when I got these hands on a friend's E-M1 mkII, which is just bit bigger, I decided to purchase one. I'm glad I did. I feel right at home wit... Show More

Not Disappointed

Jul 24, 2019

Purchased this camera in addition to its predecessors, the EM-5 and EM-1. Olympus has never disappointed me, though the EM-1 ii has more features than I could ever use. But then again, so does the EM-1. Great camera and easy to carry due to its size. Also, a shout-out to B&H. Ordered one day, and it was in my hands the next. Incredible service!

Really like this camera

Jul 17, 2019

I am a Canon user but needed to get something that would be lighter in weight. I am extremely pleased with this camera. Even with the heaviest lens on it, it is still light in weight. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Lovin my new Olympus E-M1, II

Jul 9, 2019

After a few weeks and a couple hundred photos I find the camera really great. Really a high quality piece of gear producing great photos. Using it mostly with the 12-100mm, f4 Pro lens. Stepping up from the E-M10,III to the E-M1,II was not a problem with the aid of Darrell Youngs book. The Version 3.0 firmware update brings in many features from the flagship Olympus E-M1X.

Great camera - steep learning curve

Jun 2, 2019

I bought this camera to use for walking around and a group tour that will mean a lot of walking thorough European cities as an alternative to my much heavier Nikon 610 gear and after a week of trying it out I believe it is an excellent choice for that purpose. To use this camera effectively you really need to get to know its knob, dial, buttons and lever, and that makes for a steep learning curve. The little booklet that comes with it doesn't b... Upgrade from OM E-M5 Mk II

Jun 2, 2019

Just got back from a trip to Czechia with this new camera body! Love the familiarity and similarities with my old body! The built in Keystone feature is great for catching those pictures of historic buildings. The speed with the correct cards is a remarkable upgrade and would highly recommend this camera. Next test will be out set in Yellowstone NP.

Exceeds my expectations and imagination

May 14, 2019

Two weeks in and already loving my choice. Moved from Canon DSLR to Olympus. Primary reasons were weight, speed and value. Hit a homerun on all three. Can really see and feel the difference in size and weight next to my friends DSLRs. Photographing birds at 15 and 60 fps is a joy and ProCapture adds capability I never even imagined. and the equivalent lenses 12-40 and 40-150 f2.8 Pro are a fraction of the price of Canon L lenses. So far so good

Apr 18, 2019

Noticeably more dynamic range and detail than my em-10, and more comfortable in the hand even with em-10 grip on. What is more noticeable is the focus speed and tracking. Birds in flight lock on extremely quickly and track very well. Focusing on birds in flight was a noticeable weakness of the em-10 contrast focus. Still learning the customization options and settings, but the basics are stellar.

Im in love

Super in love. Ive had Olympus cameras for ever but this is my first pro-grade MFT camera. I can throw a filter on a get easy 1 sec water shots, 2 sec shots hand held. Does fantastic in low light. Bumping to higher MPs from my old 16 MP camera makes a huge difference. Really impressed with the settings and features. Still getting my work flows down in the menu system. Fantastic camera.

Outstanding quality, highly recommended!

Mar 21, 2019

I have been using this camera and lens for 3 weeks, already shot more than 4,000 pictures. Whether in a botanical garden (close-ups and macros) or around the sea; whether stills on the beach or pelicans flying fast, this is the best combination of camera and lens. Besides the 12-40mm, I have been using the 7-14mm f/2.8, the 12-100mm f/4, and the 40-150mm f/2.8 with and without the 1.4x teleconverter. First and foremost: Why it is worth buying a ... Show More

An inspiring camera and lens

Mar 14, 2019

Great tech inside. Wow software! Many people have agreed that the camera is so adaptable as to border on difficult, and that may be (I am not there yet), but conversely the camera will work beautifully right out of the box. A few tweaks, and boom, it is doing what you want! Excellent color, a ton of resolution, super sharp in lens and sensor, and crazy fast. Electronic viewfinder is surprisingly easy to get used to. KNOW WHAT YOURE GETTING BEFORE YOU ASK FOR IT

Nov 12, 2018

An outstanding marvel of complexity! Ive wanted the camera for over a year, based on reporting in Shutterbug and others. The reported fps speed is astounding, the ad photos amazingly sharp. Problem: there are so many types and combinations of settings, for A, S, WB, ISO, and a host of other variables, its taking me a very long time to learn how to use the camera, short of setting the dial on AUTO taking whatever image the camera wants to give me,... Brilliant!

Nov 8, 2018

I recently sold my Canon full frame gear in favor of lighter, more nimble equipment. The finalists were the Fuji X-T3, Lumix G9, and the E-M1 Mk II. I opted for MFT because of my favorable experience with a Lumix G7 and the variety of lenses available. All I can say is that this camera is just brilliant. Its quality, capabilities, and output are superb. Ergonomics are perfect for me. I spent 2 days with Tony Phillips E-M1 Mk II book to learn the ... Show More

I have been using pro level cameras and lenses from Canon and Nikon for the past 30 years and digital cameras from them for the past 16 years and first tried an Olympus Pen camera with its 3-axis image stabilization and found it wanting. A great camera.

Oct 7, 2018

I have been a Canon user for many years. My main reason for looking at M/43 cameras was trying to maintain quality while losing the weight. I rented the EM1-2 and really like the size while keeping the functionality and image quality. Excellent product.

I got this after hearing from several of my photographic cohorts. The camera is way ahead of its time feature wise but does take a while to get to know the menu system. I love focus stacking and bracketing, along with target focus and spot metering sync. much lighter to use and carry around.
