As Excellent as I Expected
After buying a Panasonic G3, this has been my first (and to date only) lens purchase. I love it for its fast autofocus, sharpness, the gorgeous colours it captures, and of course the option to stop down to 1.8. It's barely left my camera since I put it on, and although I know this medium telephoto length is mainly seen as a portraits lens, I've been very pleased using it as an all-purpose lens. Of course, it takes stunningly beautiful portraits, ... Show More

Beautiful.
I love this glass. It is the first M43 lens I have purchased outside the kit 14-42 which came with my E-PL5, and I literally have not taken it off since I put it on, about two months ago; and my Olympus goes with me everywhere, all the time. It is obviously not the most versatile piece of glass ever designed, being a portrait length lens, and not having a super close minimum focus distance, but the moment I put it on, and framed the same subject ... Who says MFT doesn't get shallow DOF?
I'd been anticipating this lens for some time, and when the shipping notice made its way to my e-mail I was plain giddy. Lucky me, with B&H and UPS both being awesome with shipping from East Coast to East Coast, I got it next day, too! Back in my SLR days I had a thing for the look and feel of the Nifty 50. Though my old 20mm f/1.7 was close, it was too wide - it dawned on me that I was looking for a longer focal length prime, something to crop i... Show More

My Lumix GF3 Bottlenecks this Lens!
There is such a thing as having a lens that is too good for your gear. I am a casual hobbyist, not a pro. I was upset with the lack of low light capabilities with the 14-42mm zoom and the pancake lens for my lumix GF3. Outside shots, amazing. Indoor, terrible. I needed something better, so I turned to this lens. Once I got it, I shot some really great pictures and quickly realized that the lens is noticeably slower to focus than the Pancake for t... This Lens Sold Me on m43
On first unpacking this lens I was impressed with the build quality, having had my expectations lowered by some initial reviews and complaints about it having a cheaper plastic construction. True, there is a lot of plastic, but it hardly feels cheap to me. Not nearly as cheap as the MZ 14-42 ii R kit lens that comes with the EP3. Frankly, if I'd never heard a complaint about build quality I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. To me the lens ha... Show More

Just buy it. Now.
Given the price of this kit, you basically pay for the 75mm and the hood and get the 45 and its hood for free. That alone makes it a no-brainer. Here are the common gripes - the 75 is just too long to be used as a portrait lens. No. Just no. Granted, you probably can't take good kitty-cat pictures indoors on the couch with this lens (I tried). But, for studio or outdoor headshots (or even larger), it works great! Yes, it can stop out to 1.8. No, ... Show More

Nice Lens at a reasonable cost
I bought this lens for my LUMIX GH3. It is a very compact lens, that of course is one of the pluses of the micro 4/3 system. This particular lens was highly recommended at CameraLabs.com so I decided to take a chance on it. The lens mount 'fit' is slightly tighter than the Panasonic lenses I have. That surprised me, since both of these reliable companies have subscribed to the micro 4/3 specifications. I'm not suggesting that this 'fit' on the le... Show More

Awesome
This thing is awesome. Small, light, bright, and fast. AF speed is super fast, nearly instant, and is completely quiet. If I put my ear up to the lens, I MIGHT be able to hear it if I tell it to try to focus with the lens cap on. Sharpness is flat out incredible. Don't be afraid to shoot wide open, its sharper than most other brands primes are at f/4. Bokeh quality is flawless. Shoot at 1.8 and your background becomes a smooth ocean of blur. Chro... Show More

A Must Own Prime for the m4/3 System
It's an awesome prime. I would end it with that but it wouldn't be a good review now would it. :) I pre-ordered this lens on the day it was available for preorder here at BH. I use it pretty much on anything and everything. I hardly take it off the body ever since I received it from BH. So it can be of general use...just not Macro. Pros: So first of, if you own a micro four-thirds body, you need to own this lens. It is sharp on all it's aperture ... Show More

Don't be fooled by its tiny size.
No lens is perfect but this one is closer to five stars than four so it gets top marks from me. The micro four thirds system has been desperately missing fast prime lenses. This is a tiny 90mm equivalent portrait lens. O.k. I would be happy to pay more and have it twice as big if it were f/1.4 (or even f/1.2 like the Canon FD 50mm I have been using with an adapter), but it is the only fast micro four thirds portrait lens at this time. It is also ... Show More

Great low light lens for M4/3 cameras ( I use GH3 and GH4)
I would say this lens is excellent for GH3 and GH4 cameras. A plus is that it has automatic focus and its compatible with panasonic GH3 and GH4. This is a M4/3 lens so there is no crop factor with it which is amazing. It is also a great low light lens! I can say I can do almost a whole event with this little lens and almost never switch to other lenses I can get decent medium close ups medium wide shots and some times even some close ups its a ve... I have a Nikon D600 and a D7000 and the holy trinity of zooms along with a handful of gorgeous Nikkor primes, but the nicest photos I've ever taken (I'm a bit embarrassed to say after spending all that money) is with this lens mounted on my OM-D. There's something about the combination of the sharpness of the photos and the wicked creamy blur with the aperture wide open, that just makes my jaw drop. I love this thing. So happy with this lens, I bought another micro 4/3 camera.
I own the Olympus OMD EM5 and was satisfied with the pictures and video but was considering a full frame camera to get better photos, but decided to try this lens after watching youtube reviews. These hit a sweet spot.
These are two very sharp and compact lenses for micro four thirds cameras. I use them for street photography. I have paired them with Olympus 12 and 17mm primes, so I have four lenses that dont seem to attract attention, focus quickly and have great quality, both in construction and in the images they produce. This kit includes lens shades, which are good quality. It seems that Olympus, Panasonic and others are concentrating now on big zooms, but... Show More

Sharpest Lens in the Bag
I bought this mainly as a portrait lens - which the 45mm f/1.8 delivers marvelously; good colors, natural skin-tones and narrow depth of field that gives superb separation between subject and background. When I discovered how SHARP and FAST the Autofocus was, I decided to try my hand at photographing the birds that visit my backyard feeders. Take a look at the 3 bird photos I put up to demonstrate what the lens will render. WOW! You can see the r... Show More

I purchased this lens as one of two primes (the other is the Lumix 20mm f1.7) to use with my Olympus OM-D. I am relatively new to photography and interchangeable lens cameras, and was very impressed both by the camera (but that's for a separate review) and this lens. Great lens. Undersold by Olympus
I wrote a long review about the image quality of this lens (which ids excellent) but there was an internet glitch and the web page ate it, to my disgust! Others have written about that anyway so I will say: Great and much needed portrait lens for the M4/3 system. It is inexpensive, small, light and has outstanding overall image quality. The reasons it drops a star for me are that, firstly it should have matched the build quality of the 12mm f/2 a... Show More

Clean, fast, well built lens.
I purchased this when B&H were having a sale. The lens is a massive step up in terms of quality from the kit 14-42mm kit lens that came with my camera. The lens is very sharp through most of the f/stops, and is easy to focus. I also love how the front element does not move or rotate at all! The focussing ring is a bit to get used to (I am used to using SLR lenses where the focus ring directly moves the elements, whereas with this lens, the focus ... Show More

My favorite lens
I was on the fence about getting this lens since I had the OM-50 (it's cheaper) and it is a specific focal point rather than an all purpose or walk around. I am glad I purchased it. It does stay on my EP3 most of the time, I hate to take it off. It's a comfortable focal length that allows me to get most of the photos I need before having to change the lens. It's fast and despite it being plastic as some have reported, it is NOT cheap plastic. It ... Show More

Brilliant Prime for CSCs
This lens focuses fast on my OMD and takes sharp photos. I enjoy the focal length, especially outside, but indoor portraits can get a bit cramped. (Remember that it's like a 90mm on a full frame DSLR.) Build quality is excellent. The 1.8 speed allows for some great low light opportunities, shallow depth of field images, and even sports photography if you can get close enough to the action. Outstanding Portrait Lens
A+ lens. What is not to like about this lens? The silver color, and that black is not (yet) available. Everything else I can say about it is positive. Compare the dimensions and weight of this lens on an MFT body to, for example, a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 on a full frame body. Such is the comparable lens/body combination.
