best headphones i've tried

Feb 8, 2011

....im comparing this side to side with shp8900 for music listening. with the mdrv6, i can hear so much details especially the bass, that very clear bass i couldn't hear with the shp8900i know this is a monitoring headphones. my band has other plans, but i'm happy keeping it for music listening.the construction oozes quality. i must admit, being a monitoring headphone, it is not very comfortable as it feels tightthis is my first time buying from bhphotovideo after many years of lurking. i can't believe the low prices here at this site.

Great set of headphones

Feb 3, 2011

I use this product in my video production to ensure a great audio track. I can hear an vast range of sounds which allows me to detect unwanted background noise on the video. I can always count on great audio reproduction with these headphones. I would recommend this product for anyone in the video business.

comfortable, foldable, good quility.

I use this Sony V6 with my H4N. It is very comfortable to wear hours and hours. It is very easy to store too. It is foldable and there is a leather case come with it. I can even put my V6 in my camera bag. One more thing is good quility.

I like these headphones

Jan 29, 2011

I bought these to replace my old worn 7506 headphones that have been used daily for years. So far so good. They sound and feel the same to me. I won't know for a few years if they will withstand the test of time but so far so good.

Amazing Sound, So Glad I Bought These!!

Jan 11, 2011

I have been looking around for a good set of over the ear headphones to use in my office and for use on long plane rides, (been using earbuds for the compact quality, but they are just not comfortable for me). I also love music and have a good ear for the fullness and range of sound in the music that I listen to. I am always very aware of the quality of the headphones or speakers while listening. There were three things that I wanted in my purcha... Show More

These things deserve their good reputation. For the very reasonable price, they deliver excellent sound and better than any other I heard anywhere near the money. Better than some at higher prices. Very neutral, clean sounding without harshness, good but not pounding boosted bass. Long cord not the best for portable uses.

These things deserve their good reputation. For a very reasonable price they deliver very good sound, and much better than anything else I heard anywhere near the money. Clean neutral sound that is not thin or harsh. No overboosted bass. Good neutral tonal balance and the ability to handle power without the sound falling apart. Long cord not the best for portability.

A Timeless Classic

Dec 28, 2010

When this product was first released in the 80's a videographer/drummer friend brought a pair over for a session and I immediately went out and got myself a pair. I still have those and this year gave my son a set for his 23rd birthday. The gift was a hit. He has been getting serious about sound and wanted something like this. He loves them as much as I do. These are earphones you can use for everything, and you will be happy with them forever! T... Show More

These headphones are very portable and fold into a well designed protective eckto-sleleton. I use these exclusively while on the road.

Decent headphones

Dec 19, 2010

These headphones are a good value for quality and sound. The sound is clear with accurate range from lows to highs. Only issue for me is that my ears seem to be larger than normal and for extended use they get uncomfortable, even with the deluxe add on ear pads. The sound quality is not audiophile, but for the price I'm not complaining. I use my Stax for that. I use these mostly for computer and iPod use and when I occasionally fly.

OK

Would prefer more bass. Also, the cord is much too heavy, since I use this as an Ipod headphone when I am working out.

Great headphones

Dec 19, 2010

These are a great pair of headphones that I would definitely buy again. They are very comfortable, sound great, sit on my head without sliding off while moving around, and block out a good bit of noise as well. Great buy!

What a sound! Great soundstage and accurate bass. Treble is not as bright as others say, id say it is just right.

These are the best

Dec 10, 2010

I have been using these phones for at least 20 years. I do voiceovers for a living and DJ occasionally. They are super clear, have just the right amount of bass. To me, they make music sound the way it is supposed to sound. You can pay more for a set of cans but why? If you don't need in-ear monitoring, these are your choice.

Great Headphones

Dec 8, 2010

I read the other reviews about how good this was relative to much higher priced headpohones, which I had. Now I wear these exclusively, and a friend who is serious music told me the next version up was considered the studio headphone of choice. The sound is unbelievably clear and accurate.

Perfect for home studio monitoring

Dec 8, 2010

These headphone are amazing for home studio monitoring, the sound quality is excellent compared to others because with this price no any other headphones give that much sound quality, these provide very flat frequency response, which means you hear what is actually recorded without any equalizer effects, for example, bass boost or high frequency boost, so the natural sounds come out and you can use as a live sound monitoring. The only thing which... Show More

Great set of headphones.

Nov 21, 2010

The Sony MDR-V6 are a great set of headphones. I had used them years ago, switch to Bose and now I'm glad I switched back to Sony. They've got an excellent sound and a great feel to them. I wish they had included an extra set of foam covers, that's the first thing that goes. I was tempted to buy a set of Shures, just for that.

Very Nice!

Nov 20, 2010

Haven't used them a lot yet but they've been great. I was a little upset at the padding on them, they fell off immediately when I took them out of the bad, the ear padding. I was like great I can already see I'm going to have to deal with this for a long time. They've stayed on well since then. The sound canceling is amazing for as small as the padding is. Great sound for the price as well. It's great that it's compact, but it also makes the design feel a little flimsy.

I am in charge of purchasing equipment for a film program and these headphones are quite good for the price. The amount of abuse they take from all of our students is impressive. They do fall apart after some time, but if you take good care of them, they will last quite a long time.

Nov 15, 2010

I searched and searched for a headset and thought I would never be happy, until I remembered these beauties. I purchased quite a few headsets already including Bose and Beats and neither live up to the comfort and sound quality of the Sony MDR-v6! - which cost a third less by the way. I had these many years ago but over time and wear, moved on to newer sets, only to return finding nothing that could match up. The only con I have is the coiled wir... Show More

I bought them for use in my home voiceover studio for isolation and accuracy, and they deliver. For CD listening, they absolutely live up to their reputation and exceed my expectations. Great stereo seperation. The broad frequency response really seems to bring out detail in single instrument or small ensemble recordings, such as jazz or chamber music.
