Its a super sharp lens - worth the money!

It is worth it!
I haven't used any other macro lens so I can't compare to others but I don't need to. This lens works perfectly and has great results. I wish the focusing had more travel because the slightest turn make a big difference but other than that I have absolutely no issues with this lens. Amazing Lens!
This lens is amazing as far as macro work is considered. It also works really well as a portrait lens. The only possible issue is the autofocus hunting. Now, this can mostly be remedied by learning how to properly use the lens and how to set it correctly depending on what you're shooting. However, even after learning the lens and setting it properly sometimes it can take a bit of hunting to get into focus. If you can be patient and can set up your shot properly before taking it then you'll love this lens!

Astounding
This is a spectacular lens in all regards. It is well made, a perfect focal length for its purpose, fast enough for most lighting situations, amd it delivers crisp shots with good corner to corner performance. I am 100% satisfied with this lens. Bravo, Sony.

Great Macro lens for the Sony a7 series
The Sony 90 mm F/2.8 Macro is a great lens on any a7 body. The lens does take a long time in low light with AF if target is 1 m away. The sweet area is the 0.28-0.5m focal range. there is a lock to help the AF. Without the lock the lens will pan the full range before finding the focus. Great for portraits with the the focus lock on 0.5-infinity. Clear glass with no visible distortions. Only limitation will be non-macro action shots, but that is not what this lens was made for.

Excellent sharpness, even at large apertures
I rented the 50mm f/2.8 macro before deciding to purchase the 90mm. With the 50, I found I needed several frames with varying planes of focus for stacking--even for such small objects as gemstones. Thus, photographing a large collection of stones was tedious and tiresome. So I opted to buy the 90mm, after reading its reviews. Great lens, mine has dust in it
Awesome lens. Got mine a week or so ago and love it. Went right on my A7ii and hasn't been removed yet. Shot some macro shots last night and realized it had some dust particles on one of the lenses inside. Not much I can do about it, but the spots can be easily removed in post so not that big of a deal.

Quick, Sharp, and Versitle
In the past, I have really struggled with macro, especially "in the field." But the AF on this lens is actually usable when shooting macro with moving subjects, and the AF/MF switch on the focus ring lets you make quick decisions on the go. Depth of field is still a constant challenge, but I guess that's just the way it is. Hoping a ring light/flash will improve this. For non-macro shooting, this lens performs as you would expect from any high-end prime lens. Very happy with this lens!

No regrets at all.
First G series lens I've purchased and I don't regret a single second of it. Lens is sharp as heck, and the bokeh looks amazing. Even at f/2.8. The sharpness at macro distances is what really gets me. Also, this lens is great for portraits! When I first bought it, I didn't think I was going to use this lens as much as I thought but, it's so versatile. I can bring it to almost any setting and get amazing shots.

Super macro
This is the first macro I purchased for my A7RIII. Absolutely no regrets! So far l have been experimenting with creatures and flowers in my backyard. Happy with the results! If you are looking for a 90mm that also does great macros this is it!!

Great copy
Second go for this lens. First was a very disappointing. Waited over a year to try again. This copy is excellent. I am using it as a replacement for my Canon 100 f2.8 L IS with a Metabones adapter. Wow what an improvement. In studio, shooting mostly food with it. Clients love the Bokah. Great macro with PixelShift on A7RIII.

Love it but...
Got this lens for about a month now, shoot about 20 sessions, mostly outdoor flower and plants. The detail is very sharp even in hand held on an A7r iii. The only thing I dont like is it hunts a lot in auto focus, and sometimes failed. Manual focus works perfectly. I tried various AF setting and none made any difference. Great!! So far.....but pricey
VERY sharp,focuses well. Haven't shot with it extensively but excellent thus far. Pretty expensive though in retrospect. SONY has that issue throughout. If you REALLY shoot macro A LOT,this lens is a great choice. If you NOW AND THEN shoot macro,don't bother,get the 85 1.8.

I recently bought this lens together with the new Alfa A7RIII, and its a killer combination. The FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro is flawless. Sharp, with beautiful bokeh at f/2.8. Push/pull Manual/Autofocus function and AF Lock is so easy to use - Love it!

Very Sharp Dual Purpose, Macro & Portrait Lens
My favorite Sony Lens to date! This 90mm is tack sharp with excellent build quality. A little slower to focus on the A6500 but quite responsive on my A7R3. Bokeh is nice and the 2.8 Aperture comes in handy when using it for event coverage. It's easy to recommend this lens and I just couldn't be without it!

Sharp, fast and outstanding value
But for its noisy focus (a bit of a problem shooting video) this lens is a cracker. Sharp, fast, wonderful macro and lovely bokeh and excellent value for money. I highly recommend it.

A great decision.
Bought this to replace a Canon 100 mm f2.8 L macro lens that I used with a Metabones III adapter. That combination work good for manual focus and I decides I wanted a native lens with auto focus and Image Stabilization. The FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro lens is sharp and focuses quickly. It was a great decision.

Excellent, Sharp!
I bought this lens with a Sony A7Rii. I have only had for a very short time, and have only been able to use just a couple of quick photos. The reviews I read about this lens being sharp were very true. I was able to capture some great close up photos of flowers in my yard the very first time I tested the camera and lens. I think I am going to be very happy.

Excellent lens, worth every cent, fun
I hesitated on the cost, but am shooting macro more and more so I made the plunge. This lens has been worth every cent. I find myself shooting spiders, bugs and other crawlies that are a little skittish when I get as close as I must with my 30mm Macro. The 90 fits perfectly. YES! Wish I'd bought it earlier.
I'm using this lens to DSLR scan my film negatives on a copystand. The lens has replaced a Contax CY 100mm Makro and represents a real upgrade in usability on my Sony A7RII camera. Perfect for the job! Highly recommended.
