E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS E-Mount Lens (Black) by Sony
A really great lens at a really great price! This lens is nice and sharp and has good contrast, except that it softens slightly at its maximum zoom is to be expected. It is a very good lens for the price and it takes great shots consistently and is highly recommended! Focus is quick and sure, and it has a nice bokeh. It is also a sturdily built lens that will last and stay together. On the A6000 which is great shooting at high ISO's it may be used in lower light situations.

Nice Lens
Works well with my Sony a6000. Slight distortion at the far end of the range. Otherwise, excellent results.

Good Lens
The camera was great for longer range pictures although it was really bad in low light

OSS not compatible with Sony A7S (ILCE-7S)
I am new to the Sony camera system. And I am finding out the hard way that the Sony system heavily relies on software compatibility. For example the OSS built into certain Sony lenses is NOT supported by EVERY Sony camera body. You need to consult the lens compatibility chart for each camera model on the Sony Support website. For example for the A7S (ILCE-7S) the website is:http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/lens_body/index.php?area=us&lan... Excellent Lens
I use this lens on my new Sony a6000 to complement the kit lens my camera came with. I find the image quality is very good at all ranges. In fact, I like this lens more than the 16-50mm kit lens. For the price I have found this lens to be a very good when you need that extra reach.

I like it, but I'm disappointed in Sony
I really enjoy using this lens with my Sony a6000, but I must note that it came with some kind of bubble beneath the surface. After emailing Sony about it, they told me to try cleaning the (brand new!) lensneedless to say, it didn't help.

Price is tough to beat
I use this lens for wildlife and kids sports. So far I've been very happy with it. It's fast enough for my needs, has very good image quality, and I would consider it light for its size. Not that it's a huge lens but compared to other lenses in my collection. I've seen videos on YouTube where people bash this lense but for the $$I paid for it it's great. The next cheapest lens in this size I believe was over $$. This lens is a no brainier.

Good value for the money
I bought this lens to pair with a Sony a5100 and I have not been disappointed. The pictures I have taken are clear with good detail throughout its entire focal length. It's certainly not the most impressive zoom lens around, but for the money, it's an excellent performer and good value. Despite it's size, it is still manageable on the a5100. Autofocus works very well on this lens, though it will hunt a bit at the long end in low light. OSS is exc... Show More

Not perfect but acceptable
I purchase this lense along with Hasselblad lunar which is same as Nex-5 for travel camera. It is small and light as I expected, but quality of lense is not good as its name.

Good lens for the money
I took my a6000 camera with this lens to take bird pictures in Long Beach, NY. The pictures turned out great and the zoom helped a lot. I wish Sony would come out with 18-270mm lens though.

Singularly Unimpressed
Pros: Lightweight, small, good focal range. Cons: Dreadful chromatic aberration at high contrast edges, especially at longer focal lengths. I was hoping this would be a good basic telephoto for the A6000, but, at least the copy I got, was dreadful at the longer lengths. The CA was essentially absent until the focal length was over about 125mm, but after that it was awful (and yes, I was using the appropriate CA reduction settings in the camera). ... Show More

Worth the price
I'm still getting used to my a6000 and the new lens but I try and take it everywhere to get some experience using the lens. I do notice some pictures are crystal clear and others are a little soft. At this point I'm not sure it's the focus or the lens. But the pictures that are clear come out with fine detail even zooming in 150% I have a Tamron SP 60-300 and 28-80 and have had hot and miss success with them also so I think it is focus. Excellent Image Quality
Nice construction and outstanding image quality throughout its range. OSS works well too. But I often use this lens for field video, so I had to deduct a point for the absence of a motorized zoom. I would have paid a hundred bucks more for that. Overall, I consider this lens under-priced for its level of performance, especially considering I spent twice as much on a similar Nikon zoom for my DSLR that doesn't photos any better than this one.

Great Little Lens
this is a great little lens: very sharp, excellent contrast and small considering the zoom range. Easily fits in your pocket. OSS is very effective and one can easily hand hold at 1/8 second on the short end and 1/20 on the long. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because of the plastic lens flange. I'm sure Sony will say that the plastic is stronger and more accurate than the metal but I still like metal. Call me old fashioned. If you are looking for an indoor, low light lens this isn't it. If you are looking for a good all around tele zoom then you can't go wrong.

Surprised!
Many reviews mention this lens is soft at 210mm. I found this is not the case at all. In fact, my test shots are very sharp at all focal lengths. The Steady Shot feature on this lens works remarkably well.

Better than I thought it would be
I got this lens for $ over the holidays with the purchase of an a6000. I generally own/use very good glass, but I don't use long lenses that often and was hoping the 55-210mm would hold me over until I can afford to add a higher end tele-zoom. To my pleasant surprise my copy is quite a good lens and I won't be in any hurry to replace it. I've only tested it at f/8 on a tripod (because that is how I will use it). Very nice results at all the marke... Show More
