Camera turns on by itself
I would have rated this camera a solid 5-star if it is not for this problem. Bought this camera in March to take pictures of my kids based on great reviews. However, after less than one month and 500+ pictures, the camera started turning itself on randomly. Tried to fix it by changing the menu item but failed. This situation was frustrating and I missed occasions of capturing my kids during their games because the battery would be exhausted unexp... Show More

Camera with no manual?
Looking just at the specifications, this is an attractive piece of photographic equipment. Looking at specifications and price, it becomes, at best, debatable. Once you look at specifications, price and the execution, it unfortunately gets worse. What is delivered with this camera as an excuse for the manual is a sick joke. What is offered by Sony on the Internet is so sub-standard that it is of no help for anything but the most basic operation. ... Show More

terrific camera
A highly rated point and shoot that has far more capability than I need, but I'm looking forward to taking pix and learning to do more and more with it.

Really nice photos
Great for portraits and group photos. I use it with the fill flash setting and get great results. Easy to carry with you.

Fits the bill
This camera semi-replaces an older DSLR and HD video camera, and is used primarily as a family snapshooter. Since I own many film cameras and avidly shoot many feet of medium and large format film, I don't need a digital camera that competes with the qualities I get from those tools. What I do need is something that is fast, easily carried everywhere, isn't flustered trying to capture images of fast moving kids, shoots decent video, and can be us... Show More

Fantastic Point and Shoot
I really found this point and shoot to be one of the best that I've worked with. I'm a professional photographer, so I loath shooting with a point and shoot. However, I needed to buy something compact and user friendly for an after school program. I found this camera to be fantastic! I love how quick the camera responds (focus, lag time, shutter), it's great for selective focusing too, and I found the manual settings easy to use once I figured th... Show More

Beyond my expectations
I was reluctant to spend this kind of money on a compact camera. But after several attempts to find a compact that kept my photos in focus (i.e. my children), I decided to give this camera a shot. I had recently purchased a Sony Cyber Shot DSC-WX150 and a Canon PowerShot SX260. Both of these cameras were simple to use but I kept getting unfocused shots. When I first tried my new RX-100, I was extremely surprised how quickly it focused and took sh... Show More

Stunning camera
A wonderful piece of creation by Sony, A compact size camera with DSLR quality, I like it all the way and I never bother myself to carry heavy DSLR since I have it..... worth the cost in all aspects!

I would buy this again
The camera is very well made. This camera is not a beginner point n shoot. The camera does not come with a sufficient owners manual, I needed to purchase an independent one to fully understand how to use all of the functions and what they were for. The download cost for that was $22.00...but well worth it. The 3.6 optical zoom isn't much! But it is sufficient. This is certainly the Best Point and Shoot camera available right now. It will allow yo... Show More

The pictures are much better than my 10.2MP. It is fast and refreshes quickly. BH Photo Video had the best price on the net.

Great little camera
I am a semi-pro photographer using a Nikon DSLR as my primary camera. I was missing out on the day-to-day events with my kids due to the hassle of portability, storage, etc with my DSLR, so was looking for a P&S that I could take anywhere with me. I spent MONTHS researching different P&S. It finally came down to the clarity of the image that was most important to me, although being able to shoot RAW and having control over the aperture and shutte... Show More

WOW!
I've taken pictures all my life. I became an avid, amateur photographer 10 years ago. I bought my first DSLR 7 years ago. I mostly shoot photos of family and friends and I like to create printed photo albums. I started with ImageStation, but have used Shutterfly ever since ImageStation shut down. I compare services every year and Shutterfly is still my choice. We travel a lot and do a lot of outdoor activities. I bought the Sony RX100 camera beca... Show More

Quality images in a small package
I did hours of online research for the best possible P&S that would offer great versatility and quality images. I have a DSLR and really appreciate the awesome images that are produced. The problem is lugging it around on vacations. I've been using the RX100 for a few weeks now and I really wanted it to shine under low light conditions. It didn't disappoint! I'm not an avid camera user. I am just the average consumer who knows a little bit about ... Show More

A great nimble small point and shoot
I just bought the camera before a short trip and was delighted with the results. It is great indoors, fast, easy to handle. The custom case is a must-have. Purchased an external battery charger, an extra battery and faster memory cards, all necessary in my opinion. I would say that I am an advanced amature photographer. I honestly can't see anyone being disappointed in the RX100.

Perfect complement (replacement?) to SLR
This is a one-month review, so let's call it initial impressions. I am a serious DSLR shooter who was looking for a camera that I'd always have with me. My iPhone is always with me but too many times I actually wanted some quality and was frustrated. I finally decided to get the RX100 after concluding it was the best option from everyone else's overwhelmingly positive regard for it. The short answer is: what everyone else has said. It's a great c... Show More

Nifty, Worthy pocketable little camera
I just received the RX100 about two weeks ago. It is an amazing little camera, and the sensor is large enough to produce excellent photos. That said, I returned it a few days ago. It was not for anything that was wrong with the camera...it was just too small for my large hands. I constantly bumped buttons that I didn't want to. My opinion is that it is a fine camera that fits the pocket, but if you have large hands and fingers, I would try it out first.

High Quality Camera
Fantastic camera with high end DSLR like features in a small compact body. Image quality is excellent. Perfect camera for a novice or experienced photographer. Battery life is not that great so buy an extra battery. I wish the optical zoom was bigger such as 10X. The 1080P video is excellent.

Pricey but worth it!
I did a ton of research on this camera before buying it. It came down to either this one or the Canon G1X. Although the G1X has the bigger censor the images that i saw from this camera were a bit more impressive. My main problem with the camera initially was the price. For what it cost i can get a pretty good mirrorless system with interchangeable lenses.I ended up decding on this cam. After about one week with this camera i can say it was worth ... Show More

Sony RX100 1.5x sharper vs Canon S95/110
A side by side test shows that Sony RX100 achieves autofocus twice as fast and is more than 1.5x sharper than my Canon S95. Sony RX100 excels for macro and all-around portable use, and serves remarkable well as a second travel camera paired with my Sony NEX-7 (whose 18-200mm lens is fuzzy at closest 10 focus, but otherwise excellent for all-around travel). Sony RX100 packs the biggest sensor (1-inch-Type) ever designed into such a small body (only 8.5 ounces, shirt-pocket sized).

Great Little Camera
I am a professional photographer that has All the best Canon DSLR bodies and L lenses. I wanted a small carry around camera and bought the Sony Rx100. WOW... this little camera is great, with a very sharp lens. You can shoot fast when you need to or do HDR images.I shoot mostly RAW images and the Sony software is not great, but if you have Lightroom or Aperature it is easy to edit your shots. The only down side is there is a learning curve with all the settings, and the manual is not good. I bought a book for my Ipad that explains all the functions and more. This is a great little camera!!!

Very Impressed with DSC-RX100
This camerais a great second camera for those times when your SLR is just to much. It's small size makes it easy to carry and image quality is virtually as good as an entry level SLR. Infact in many ways with it's auto point an shoot functions it is easier to capture perfect results. However it can sometimes do unexpected things when it tries to do too much for you. It's small size is both a positive and a negative as it can sometimes be awkward ... Show More

Almost there.
I needed a point and shoot to supplement my pro cameras so narrowed it down to the Canon g1x, g15 and this Sony. Until its in your hands its only the specs and examples that you can go by. The Sony specs won and the examples looked good so I pulled the trigger. This thing is tiny!! That's good when I mount it to the hot show of my pro camera to run video. But when using as a standalone, its a problem as there's no gripping area. I solved this by p... Show More

Nice camera, waayyy better than my phone
I'm not a photog, I don't even have a pro account on flickr. I was looking for a camera that is comparable in size to a smartphone (easy to transport and carry), simple to operate (i.e. point and shoot, pic-ing for dummies/idiot-proof) and capable of taking high quality digital pics. This camera fits the bill quite well. I chose the cybershot over others in this price range mainly because of the sensor, megapixel count and Zeiss lens; and, for my... Show More
